I just found this on the website. Accurate? I assume the Eatery is the food court.

Express Comps are 1:1 for accommodations, dining, entertainment, M life Moments and more.
At Borgata retail shops and The Marketplace Eatery outlets, Express Comps are 2:1.

Ooo, didn't know that (obv). The coffee downstairs is better (and closer to where I stay/play/park) anyway.

First trip i played a VERY modest amount of poker, like 2-3 hrs a day. was playing mostly low stakes table games with my wife. I figured I wouldnt get comp offers, but my offers would at least budge a bit, but they didnt even change at all, borg treated it like I didnt even show up.

Most recent trip, I was something like 2/6/6/4 and also got 4 “points” (i guess a point is 150 tier credits = 1 hr of poker at 2/5+) between friday and saturday, not sure which day I got the points. So I didnt seem to hit the 15 express comps threshold, although I fell not too far short for fri-sun, and may have gone over one day. Also I hope the 2 hrs I played when i got in at like 1 AM thursday night/fri AM didnt “hurt” my average. Would I really have been better off for comps to just go play at harrahs and not even show up to the borg thurs?

As far as the OP, fair enough, it seems I didnt hit the “modest” amount of hours from the forum, and maybe that is a modest number for grinders. I personally wouldnt consider 7.5/10 hrs a modest amount of hours per day. Thats a full work day and then some. Doable certainly but not modest, and do wish I had this info before I went. I would say at minimum, remove the word “modest”, and put the 7.5/10 hr amount as a “general guidelne”, because at least I felt misled. The vegas poker room rates require 6 or 8 hrs/day/room, so 2 person room =3 or 4 hrs per day per person, I guess thats about what id expect for modest.

And for wheoever asked if this was just for next week, I just looked thru for cheapest days. My cheapest offers are $109 Sun-thurs, $249 fri, $319 saturday, with the vast majority of offers higher than that, Most are much higher, may is like $449+ in sat. I would think... that there wouod at least be an in between where I can get like.... $79 sun-thurs, $189 fri, $249 sat foe the amount I played, but these prices, although I guess slightly lower than I was seeing before, is still astronomical. Like damn, who is paying $500 including fees to stay at the borg for a night?

Anyway, good info, I guess Ill give it another try and hit the 7.5 hrs/day.

i have no idea why the borgata hates you
i get 2 nights a week and most fri and sat
i have friends who barely play- maybe every six months they'll play a few hours of 1/2 nl and they get sun-thurs comps

That has NOT been my experience.
I'm sure your friends must be playing a lot more poker OR other table games. I was at the Borgata last weekend and was careful to play appx 9 hours (mix 1/2 & 2/5) on Friday and only play in a tournament on Saturday (no cash games). I got $13 in comps & now get ONE weekday comp per week.

So.... comps seem OK but perhaps a bit stingy.
I agree with a previous poster that paying appx $500 per weekend night is insane.

Don't play tournaments unless you can play double the amount of cash than normal

You have to swipe your card to play in them, so they constitute you as there and basically not playing all day.

As I stated, I played 9 hours of 2/5 on 4/14/18. That was it. These are my offers now:

Poker play doesn't earn points. They come from slot play.

In theory, yes. 16/3 > 18/4 All short days will drag on your average.

The $15/day thing is that if your average (i.e., over multiple days) is more, you'll probably start getting Fridays and Saturdays free.

You might try asking at the Rewards desk next time to see if they can tell you anything about it. Mixing in table games is a big variable; I don't think we've had any reliable information on what that does. Likewise, if there's a minimum average to set off the offers we don't have enough information to know it. But over many years of the thread we have many reports that it doesn't take all that much to get the standard discounted rates or get Sun–Thur comped. And, yes, in-season and on weekends the rates often don't look special at all.

It wouldn't be the rate if nobody was paying it.

Johnny, I dont know why but my AFTER shot looks worse than your BEFORE. I just did the later months, the earlier months are worse.

And yeah, I meant I earned 4 “points” at table games beyond my poker, which the rewards desk said are worth 150 tier credits each (so the same tier credits as 2 hours of poker)

Yeesh, and im not far off and not getting any comped weekdays. Historically I regularly got comped rooms sun-fri, and some sats. Maybe things have changed with MGM management.

I have personally not found the rewards desk particularly useful for this sort of thing. The rewards systems are all separate from each other, so like, for example I asked how many tier credits I earned during the most recent trip, and the rewards desk said they cant see the poker stuff. I also had an issue with my borg trip in dec (basically somehow they transferred my MGM account into Borgatas system instead of reverse, and broke all my cards??? IDK), and i didnt find out until I was at Aria in Jan, and they told me I had to call Borgata directly, because they didnt see anything except for what I did at Aria. There doesnt seem to be an easily accessable location with someone who can see ALL my play and evaluate it unless youre high roller enough to get a host.

From my experience, if my room is for Friday night/check out Saturday, I play Friday for a full day and I make sure that they charge my credit card, not my comps, for the fee for the room when I check out Saturday. I've been told that when they swipe your card for anything, you are now considered at the casino for the day. If you get 0 hours, that will kill your daily average rate.

I know this is commonly accepted here as fact, but my experience has been that it's not. I don't get a room that often anymore, but when I do I apply comp dollars at checkout and use my free parking with no ill effect.

Maybe there's a grace period, maybe obvious departure actions are excluded, maybe it's just not true.

Wow!
I didn't realize that playing in a tournament affected my average hours of "play" per day.
Good to know.
Thanks Johnny_on_the_spot!

Anybody else find it weird that his before has rates including fiore suites and the after is comped but only regular and water club and not even a choice to purchase a fiore. I am having the same issue with comps and have yet to get an explanation from anyone at borgata

Of course they comp the fiore suite, you just have to be a degenerate. I got it comped after playing like an hour with $200 spins at roulette.

Anyone having the issue that their 2nd night of comped rooms is now $69? I was just there and put in a $23 comp dollar session, I guess I need to put in a few more before my offers return to normal.

Two 60 year old women just got into a full on fist / kicking fight in line for the buffet and neither were banned. It’s really frustrating how unwilling this place is to ban people for violent behavior.

Sounds amazing. Wish I saw that.

I’ve seen some crazy stuff at the borg. Almost always involving drunk bros leaving the club late at night. One time saw a guy sucker punch another dude outside the taxi line in the valet entrance because he thought he was “looking at his girl”, an all out brawl started between like 10 dudes. Even 2 randoms who were just standing there started fighting also. Then the girls got involved. Always entertaining times at the Borg weekend nights.
