It's going to be on a reservation. With how much money the people out there have I could see that becoming an incredibly profitable game, if it happens.

seems like basically the nut worst location for a casino

it's 2 hours away from NYC with NO traffic, no one would ever want to go there

there's only one highway leading there which is already packed during rush hour, building a casino will gridlock surrounding areas for years

no one lives there most of the year

multimillionaires don't gamble. studies show that something like 75% of people with 7 fig+ net worth spend $0 on gambling. you want your casino in high population density area with a low-middle class population, preferably already in area with ready to go infrastructure and access to public transportation

casino built in Coney Island would straight up murder any business for lol shinnecock idiots and I'm not even sure if it would make money with zero competition (and there's already one ready to go in Queens)

Agreed. I would hope it’s not the only downstate NYC metro area casino option made available. They are only going to get the locals playing there and maybe some tourists. You’re also not going to get the player pool from central and North NJ/Westchester County NY. Even players who can possibly travel down from CT via ferry will stay up there as they have Mohegan and Foxwoods.

I don't think eastern L.I. is even considered to be down state.

I've waited my whole life for poker to come to the area, and I've pretty much given up. If MGM builds a casino at Yonkers like they were planning pre covid, that would be great. NYC has sure missed out on tons of revenue probably in lieu of lining someones pockets.

On another note, I had a conversation today with someone who works for borgata marketing saying the reason comps were cut in April was due to them changing their complete computer system to merge with MGM. She said a lot of slots will be down in the process, etc., and they don't want "too many" guests there... But she said everything is back to normal in May.

Cmon folks, this isn't the NY casino thread. Let's get back to Borgata-specific discussion like Play is trying to do with his last paragraph.

I will be there this wednesday to friday, which are the last days of comps i have on my page. I usually maybe have a few $25 matchplays a couple times a month. SOmetimes a $50 one pops up.

This trip I'll have 4 offers going almost simultaneously, so I booked the trip. Definitely weird not having any offers after the 16th, but the whole computer switch I guess makes sense. Odd it took all these years. I hope it doesn't mean lowering of the borg comps/offers, which I find is average to good.

You should be able to get a water club room if you want (just don't get a stay well) I prefer them because they look more like "home", even though it's basically the same room with different furniture and a tv on the wall instead of a stand. Unless it comes with different pool options I don't see why people would pay a higher rate for it. The only cons are if you check out then need to drop things off in your car before playing, it's a longer walk to the garage. I always get high floor city views but this weekend I was in the clouds (IMC conditions) due to fog. I was planning to go to MDL next weekend since I had over $350 on my card but I just found out it's all gone bc it's been more than 90 days since I've been there. They even mailed me an upgraded platinum card to try to lure me back. Parx and borg have more and better games anyway so it's their loss not mine.

Poker at the Yonkers Raceway soon to be casino would be a fish tank. Tournaments would be potential huge fields. At the same time, you can expect robberies in the parking lot, and players followed in their cars as they drive north. The casino is too close to some very sketchy areas and the availability of diverse escape routes for criminals is almost impossible to cover with adequate law enforcement. Players will have to assess the risk and decide if it is worth the fertile ground.

Anything is possible, but if that is the case it has been a huge blunder not to inform their customers of it. Existing poker customers are spending their M comp dollars and moving their play elsewhere because they think future room offers are done.

Wonder if that's part of the "plan".
They shed some players on the margin which reduces comp spend.

Even at $149/night where else am I really going to go for $2-5 action? There's no where cheaper to go. People who are equidistant to CT casinos might go here. Who else are they really losing?

+1 there are plenty of options under 150. I was staying at MDL in a hotel on the perimeter of the mall and worked out a deal for 65/nite 7 days a week (I stayed about 4 nites/wk) and no junk fees either or "resort fees".

So would I be able to start threads for this discussion even though the two nyc casinos currently dont offer real poker?

I'm ok with it. Call it something like "NYC area hype/discussion"

It's all just gonna be speculation with no news or any word from any property in the area that they plan to build a poker room. Everyone can talk and dream about how great it would be to have a room we can commute to but currently poker isn't even allowed to resume yet in NY casinos because of a gaming commission rule that states players can't touch other players chips or cards, so at this rate it will be years.

Yes but it seems a lot of people want to discuss it and that discussion shouldn't be hijacking a casino thread.

Call them or e-mail them and blame COVID (say you had a coworker test positive and did not want to risk other patrons' safety by going to a casino) and ask for them back. Good chance you'll get it!
