How early can you typically (realistically) check in at Borgata in the mornings? Say on a weekday during the Summer. The plan is to show up Wednesday night, play a night session (I typically play till 5-6am anyways) and then check into the Thurs-Fri comped room Thursday morning.

Also, will giving the girl at the desk $10 likely help in expediting this/making it possible?

I have had success checking in as early as 7am. You may be able to check in earlier than that (I haven't tried to check in earlier than that). If they have an available room - they will give it to you at that hour. If they don't - they will text you once one is cleaned and becomes available. I usually check in on a Saturday - I would think that mid-week - even in the summer - the chances of being able to get into a room at that hour would be very good. And if they were full - I would think you would be able to get in for sure by 11am or so at the latest.

I don't think tipping the desk person will help get you to the top of the list - but you never know - may be worth a try.

I have actually done this and it's not guaranteed to work the way you want. It's hit-or miss depending on availability. I ended up sleeping sitting up on the couch until they texted me at 9AM.

If you tip, do it discreetly because I don't believe they're allowed to take money. Fold the bill and put it under your ID or Borgata card when you hand it over so she can see it but the cameras cannot. Google "$20 trick hotel."

Additionally, my experience is that the text notification is not that accurate/timely. Quite a few times I went back to the front desk and asked if they had a room yet and they did. You can also increase your chances by proactively saying that you will take any room type (king bed vs 2 beds, smoking or non-smoking.)

Update on this:

I received effectively nothing from total rewards. No comps, did nOT get $100 celebration dinner,only got a paper coupon for 2 free nights Sun-Thurs between now and sept 30 (so i wont be back by then). I read on reddit that you should be getting 4 free nights in Atlantis, but the account doesnt update until Wednesday. Notably they also wont match your card if there isnt an expiration date. You also can turn TR diamlnd into Wyndam Diamond and then turn wyndam Diamond back into TR. same thing with MGM and Hyatt for gold and explorist.

Rock Royalty, i linked my wifes account to my MGM account, so we both got the benefits which includes 2 free nights with no blackout date (must book by sept 30) and $150 per card slot dollars, and a free buffet for 2 per card which is very nice

Oceans gave $115 in slot dollars, and 2 free nights sun-thurs, and you can get free buffet for 2-4 people every single day. If i lived here id be saving a lot on food this month.

You have to go to a total rewards desk and ask for the celebration dinner. I’ve done it in two different cities for two consecutive years.

I asked for the celebration dinner, they said I dont get one for matching. Its possible I just got robbed by a wrong employee, but its also possible that theyve tightened up the rules because so many people have started matching recently.

If you match, it takes about a month for the match to get fully processed in the system. After it does, you can go to machine across from Total Rewards desk at Harrahs, swipe your card and print your $100 dinner voucher.

Here's a bonus deal for you guys though: Typically if you do a match, that means you do not have 25,000 tier credits and therefore Diamond Lounge access costs you $10 a visit. However, right after you do the match, they give you a paper card verifying your diamond status. Your card itself does not reflect diamond status when swiped yet. So you can go to the Diamond Lounge for the first couple weeks, show the paper card confirming your upgrade and get in for free without spending the $10.

If you do take them up on the 2 bonuses listed above, try to give them some action (perhaps couple of hours of 1 2 in the poker room or a few BJ hands). They won't keep matching and giving out stuff if they don't get any action back.

I dont think MGM matches caesars at all. Only goes the other way. It youre asking what you get for a pearl card, i dont know.

You get free parking with pearl and you are wrong diamond gets you gold

People that play table games sometimes don't clock in because they don't want the occasional short poker session to negatively impact their comps.

If someone gets rooms strictly through poker, does that mean they should not clock in for a short slot play?

I get rooms strictly from poker.
Occasionally I throw $20 in VP machine and play 20-50 hands for ****s and giggles.
A couple of times a year when a bunch of my buddies in town I play some BJ or let it ride.

Neither is generating enough action to get me a single comp dollar or matchplay and doesn't affect my room offers at all.

fwiw the atlantis free night offer turns into an expensive experience. was like $75+a night in fees, and a zillion for any food anywhere even off property. dont get me wrong place is nice, but i think you could end up spending less snd have a better time going to a non casino resort.

I put in a couple of 5 hour sessions, one yesterday (dropped more than one, under 2 BI ugh) and one today (won 1 yay), so it cost me almost a BI to get what should be enough points. I see the comp dollars, and if it's 75 points per dollar (112.5 points per hour), I'm good.


Yesterday was rough as I wanted to nit it up, but got sandwiched between 2 LAGs and played terribly. Today back to a rock garden, and it went well. High hand today, saw a guy flop quad 3s with 32 in his hand. I don't think he considered how to work it out to win high hand, and obviously when the non deuce turn came his hand wasn't eligible. Won maybe $50. Same down, had QJ or QK and hit quads again, but let the river Ace hit and wasn't eligible again. Maybe got $185 because the guy with the Ace called the $100 river bet.


After putting in some hours at other rooms the past 10 days, it's clear how much better the poker room is here. The regs are helpful, dealers professional and quick food is a short walk away.
