The Borgata skin is tiny. There's one 2.5/5 PLO game that goes pretty regularly, and other than that the biggest stakes I see regularly going is 1/2NL. I'm currently playing some mixture of 25, 50, 100, and 200NL based on what's available, and I'm only 4-6 tabling. There's a few people who are regularly on literally every 50-200NL table available on the site, so I'm sure the site is not terribly sustainable (they're all reasonably solid and I'm sure they're taking money out of the games).

I've started over again from just the $20 bonus they give out, so that's kinda nice, and compared to what the action sounds like on some of the global sites, there are some weaker players, but it's not the heyday here either, it's kinda like one of the small sites back in the middle 2000s, like WSEX or whatever.

Worth loading it up and trying it out, but I wouldn't expect to make a serious living on here, the games just don't go regularly enough.

I've noticed a drastic reduction in my weekend room offers, and it seems like the fears some had about MGM taking over are coming true. I normally have half the weekends every month comped and pretty much every single Friday night free. I already had the last two weekend of June booked, but literally have no comped Friday or Saturdays in July or August.

Last time I was there, I probably put in my biggest session there, too. I made 135 comp dollars over two days and was very careful not to swipe in on the morning of the 3rd day I was there before heading home. I also playing a ton of pretty high limit BJ and lost like $4000 so surprising to see the drastic reduction in weekend rooms. Sucks

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Borgata booking algorithm is weird, some rooms that you can't book in advance become available closer to date.

In addition, you can only book X number of comped days in advance (X depends on your "power rank")

Personally, I didn't see any significant changes compared to previous years

Ok, that's good to know, I know you play a lot. I guess I'll wait to July to start getting annoyed.

Definitely not that.

I don't see any difference vs. last year. I can have any day in July or August and most days in June comped. (And I already have one June and two August reserved.)

If you're also playing table games, what we know about getting rooms from poker alone probably doesn't apply. I don't think we know a lot of specifics about what level of play vs. the house gets what level of rooms, or how that interacts with poker comps. Maybe the floor comp algorithm overpowers poker.

A naive question:

In your experience, are comps harder to get in the summer?
I would imagine the answer is "of course" but thought I'd check with the experienced players since I've only been getting comps for less than a year.

Thanks!

I've found that their algos are finicky and check from day to day they might change. Especially with CET. Besides. Just ship the big 50 next week and you can book a wing at the water club come mid July.

If I use comped nights in Vegas at Excalibur, but play only poker at Aria/Bellagio, is that going to be an issue?

It's all MGM properties...

what do you mean by issue?
your future offers may go down but the room will still be comped

I am concerned about future room comps. I booked 4 days because it was comped, but i see that they rarely spread 2/5 so i would rather play at another MGM property like Bellagio.

Yup new cards suck, I believe they are still using the old ones in the hi limit section. Also when I was there a few weeks ago playing 1/2 plo I asked them to change the cards and they obliged

They're doing a trial, and they've asked Faded Spade to alter the pictures so that the cards are more visible. I played 5/5 PLO when I was there last time and they were using the old cards. The new cards aren't staying long if people don't like them. They have a large OMC/OWC contingent they have to keep happy.

Was there a few weeks ago and the new cards are horrible. Asked them what happened to the old ones and if they would change them and didn't get it. I used Faded Spades in a home game before and hated them there as well. Seems like a decision was made by an executive who saw cheaper prices and bit on them before ordering test decks.

The problem is not so much that they are cheaper, per se. The old cards would rip and need to be replaced somewhat regularly. It not only costs money to replace the decks, but it slows the games down, too.

What's the cash game action likely to look like during the week during the main event of the Borgata Summer Poker Open? On Bravo it looks like the poker room is a bit slow during the week but higher limit (say 20/40 and 40/80+) LHE goes during the weekend. Any chance these games go during the week during the Summer Open?

The cash game action is always great throughout Borgata's entire tournament series.
