I recently played two weekends (Fri and Sat) 5/10 NL (long sessions, about two hours 10/25 NL) and now I can get almost any day I want comped. I hadn't been there in about a year before those days. I have history from years ago playing there. I also live in Manhattan, I don't know if that makes a difference.

Most here will say yes, but I'm not so convinced. The poker system is its own animal, and I'm not sure it knows you're there if you don't swipe in at a poker table. My guess is that the larger system would be offended if you check in Thursday and out Friday, and don't play (or maybe at least charge a lot of expenses to the room) at all either day. If you check in, play all night and check out the next morning, the check-out day doesn't hurt you.

Although I don't recall noticing any ill effect the time I got a room but gave all my play that night to Revel (to get a later comped room there, since I didn't yet have Borgata weekends).

Remember your room is held until 9pm, so if you're getting there later, call and let them know.
Im confused. So playing sunday hurt him? Or is it just the small session and not actually the day? If i were to get un around 5pm on a friday what would the optimal 2 sessions look like? 5-1am+ and any 8 hour+chunk on sat? Is it calendar sunday? Would it be better if i were to wake up early sunday and put in another 8 hour session?

Average hours per day is the key figure.

Days you're not there don't count, only the days you do swipe in at poker.

So Tomark's three days (as comp dollars) were ~$19.50 Friday, ~$17 Saturday and ~$7 Sunday.

(19.50 + 17) ÷ 2 = 18.25

(19.50 + 17 + 7) ÷ 3 = 14.5

So yes, the short third day hurts his average. Not playing a third day by itself, just playing short in hours.

The poker day runs from 6AM to 5:59AM. If you arrive at 5PM on a Friday, all of your poker play before 6AM is "Friday."

Any 8 hours (if you're talking about 2/5NL) between Friday 5PM and 6AM and then between Saturday 6AM and 6AM would get you an average over the two days of 8 hours. If you play another 8 hours on Sunday, then your average over three days is 8 hours. Increasing the total number of hours doesn't help you, it's the average per day that's relevant.

Ok cool. Thanks a bunch for the info. Ill plan on doing 2 10+ hr session fri and sat then and see what comps i start getting. Does staying outside of borgata impact it at all? Im guessing actually paying for full priced weekend rooms looks better? Ill prob stay somewhere else regardless

Well id be checking in thurs, checking out sun. I would play longer on sunday than thursday, so id rather play sunday and sit out thursday if those were my two choices.

I typically degen/drink one night, so I could do that thursday if the poker room didnt realize i swiped in somewhere else. Only worrying about average is so bizarre haha.

No matter what day I drive in, the 4 hours behind the wheel is gonna make putting up volume kinda tough for me.

Based on my experience, paying for a room doesnt help.

its been a while since I've been in there, but do they still give you free drink vouchers when you place a bet at the simulcast?

I can't imagine the larger system looks UNfavorably on any money spent on the property, but it certainly has no way of knowing if you go home or to another hotel when you leave. The poker system doesn't care if you have a room...I play to maintain my room offer, but I only actually use it a few times a year.

paying for the room should have no bearing on your future offers, otherwise why ever comp you a room if you can afford paying full price

but you can open MGM credit card and get instant Pearl and decent rakeback on $$ you spend on property

The minimum used to be a $2 horse bet, now its $5. And they stress that you dont get one every time you bet. Its probably my #1 favorite thing about the borgata. Nice to have gray goose or something nicer as my first drink.

1) If you arrive and play on Saturday, stay overnight, and checkout at 10am Sunday morning, leave directly after checkout, use comp dollars for checkout, but no gaming activity -- does the casino count you as being there on Sunday to count against your rating?

2) What if you do all of the above plus swipe your rewards card for breakfast before you leave? But no gaming activity in either scenario.

I don't believe so, though some here will say that it does. None of that has been a problem in my experience.

Hello everyone,

I was looking to enter the borgata summer kick off ($300 buy in $250k guaranteed) day 1 Monday, day 2 Tuesday but my car will unexpectedly be in the shop for a few days and i can no longer drive.

If anyone is like minded and making the drive down there tomorrow I would be willing to contribute gas money and split a room if one of us makes it to day 2. I live in union township (exit 138 parkway).

Toss me a pm or respond here if anyone is interested.

I was a long time black card holder and played such that I almost got any day I wanted.
With the change over to M Life something happened and now its a struggle. I don't get Saturdays for the rest of the summer. For May I played at least 7 days of 2-5, playing at least 10 hours per day.

What's up? Anyone else having similar problems. I have had major problems since the conversion to Mlife. For along period of time I had to call to make reservations as I lost ability to get weekends online. I can contact Mabel, but I really don't like making calls. I want to do it online as I did prior to the change over to Mlife. Any other people putting in the requisite hours, but not getting Saturdays?

yes, i lost all of my gaming history on the conversion from borgata to mlife, as they messed up the conversion on my account because I previously had a card for both borgata and mlife from vegas, and i havent had the same offers since.

Borgata has an ability to pull in tremendous cash for rooms in the Summer until Labor Day weekend. Expect your room offers to improve dramatically after September 3rd...

I used to get any 2 consecutive days comped without any issues. After reading these comments, I logged in the other day and I see that Saturday night Water Club rooms are now crazy prices. ($500ish)

Anyway... How do I know if my account is "linked" to MGM properly? I don't seem to get any offers for Vegas properties. When I log in on mlife.com, even Excalibur costs $100+/night for Fri/Saturday. Is that where you guys get offers for Vegas properties?

Outside of select holidays, Saturdays at the Water Club during the summer are going to be the most expensive days all year. If you're not playing 10+ hours at 1/2, 8+ hours at 2/5, or giving them $80+ a day in rake in any other poker game (or gambling in the pit), then you're unlikely to be given those nights.

I've had the same experience as you with regards to the Mlife Vegas properties. It seems Mlife is not so generous in offering rooms/good rates on rooms in Vegas based on poker play at the Borgata. Perhaps someone with experience above 2/5 can comment as to whether higher stakes play does one any good at obtaining good rates. I'm guessing if you degen in the pit then it's a whole different story.
