I just moved to Birmingham and I am looking for some live cashgame action.
I read the analysis about the casinos above, but I think that is a little bit old.
Could somebody give me an updated information about the live poker here?
I mostly play NL50 and NL100 SH online. I looking for action at 1/2 or above.
Still can be found here a good live action or mostly regwars?
Best two places to play NL cash are Broadway and Star City.
Broadway is probably the most well-established room in the area and the biggest games are generally still found here. Although these days it is incredibly rare to find a game bigger than £1/2, often these games will play much bigger than advertised, especially in late at night/early in the mornings and on weekends. Earlier games are generally smaller and nittier, but like with anywhere this is never an exact science and i've seen some absurdly big games at 7pm on a Tuesday and some **** games at 3am on a Friday night. Rake is £5 per hour which is obviously fantastic.
Star City has become more prominent recently as certain people have genuinely put some effort into making the room work (in stark contrast to Broadway where little to no attention is given to the card room by casino staff). Certainly not as nice a place as Broadway but this is offset by various offers (weekly high hand bonuses, bad beat jackpots etc) and the rake is also pretty generous (think it's capped at like £3 a pot or something tiny). As for the games themselves, i don't really play there often enough to comment but from the little i have seen and what I have heard I would say they are very hit and miss. Sometimes you're playing short-handed with a load of £50 short-stacking nits and a couple of tight winners, sometimes you get a massive whale or two who are guaranteed to drop a couple of grand every time they sit down at the table.
There are other places to play but (IMO) none worth a mention. I'm aware that the above is hardly comprehensive, so if you have any other questions just ask.
