I heard that the monthly rakeback program has changed, but I don't know what it is now. Can anyone inform us of the new program? Thanks!

The Comfort Inn across the street. literally. And, I've found little else nearby that is acceptable. I've stayed here a few times, no problems. During the week, well under $90/night.

Hey guys, I was going to be in LA in the first week of October, was curious about the mega millions tourney.

I already know I am going to be arriving an hour after the 2nd to last day of starting flights begins. So i was curious about where registration is, and the actual tourney, since I'll be landing and than rushing to check in to the hotel and than register for the tourney. Is it on the actual poker floor or in another conference hall somewhere?

Also, any thoughts on the actual tourney? Soft field? How large are the basic $260 fields, the $550 fields? Really appreciate any info guys, thank you.

The Bike has an events center where the tourneys are. Can't miss it. Bike isn't that big.

Hiya.

I've signed up for the free cash game seminar on Wednesday night (1st Oct) w/ Melanie Weisner and Nicole J (from Live at the Bike).

Anyone been to one of these before and can shed some light on what I can expect?

Does the 20-40 OE game still run regularly here? If so, which nights? Thanks for any help.

It generally goes every day, starting around 1pm, usually until late at night.

Wow, that's awesome. Is there any kind of kill or half-kill? Do they ever spread straight stud8?

They occasionally play only Stud 8 if the game is 5 handed or less, while waiting for game to fill up.

The game does not have a kill, but has an "action bet". I have never played with this anywhere else; it is like posting a kill but the stakes stay the same, 20/40, and the action bet is $20. In Omaha it plays the same as if they guy had just posted as a new player. In stud it is odd, basically a forced raise, so it does make the stud hands play bigger and with fewer people seeing 4th street.

Thanks very much for the info. I'll be in town in a few weeks and look forward to playing in this game a bunch. Hoping it's good action.

Any way to see live games at the Bike? I don't see it on their website and their not on Bravo Poker that I see either. Wondering what the 08 action on a Wednesday is like.

They always have 20/40 OE mix. The only other Omaha 8 I have seen recently is much lower, I think 4/8. I suggest just calling some day about the same time you plan to go; the games going will usually be the same, with a few more on weekends.

Aloha LA veterans,

If I am seeking housing around the bike, what neighborhoods are safe and recommended and which are to be avoided? I lived in long beach a few years back but didn't really spend any time near downey/bell area.

Also, I am assuming riding a bike is not completely safe in area?

Thank you for your advice.

You don't want to live anywhere near the Bike. And you'll be driving there from wherever you choose to live. Downey would be the closest tolerable place to live but it ain't all that nice.

Highly disappointed they longer spread the $200-500 NL game.

That game rarely ran more than two tables on any given day. Some weekends they would get three. I don't mind them dumping it, but they should increase the cap on the 2/3. Overall the room seems dead a lot of the time.

Why would they kill a game that regularly had 2 tables going? Or even one??

Because the $300-$1000 game had far more interest with (virtually) the same blinds. Never made sense to me why they had separate games.

It rarely ran more than two games. Often times just one table. Really, the only time the game ran multiple table was during their WPT/WSOP circuit tourney series. Additionally, they run more $2/3 games which will net them more dollars.
