SMPoker,
I have a pretty decent sample size at BB JAX, (20+ sessions over 2-3 years, ~150+ hrs) and I am a winning rec player who travels to play about 15-20 days a year mostly to FL, LA, LV. (I live in Atlanta and practice law). Upon first impressions I thought like you that the Best Bet JAX room sucked because of the regs to recs ratios and a little too much familiarity, soft-play, possible collusion, nitting it up, etc. I personally hate reg filled games, and I very much look for the best rooms, games, and tables. But to be honest over time I have changed my view of this room significantly over time. While it is definitely not the softest room in the world it is in no way the hardest either. Some smaller rooms may be easier to beat but don't run the bigger games, 2-5 and up consistently enough. While I don't want to give a huge play style analysis in this post, I think the key is to study what you observed the locals doing and adjust appropriately. GTO changes from room to room based on buy in strategies of the regulars IMO. Once you "discover" your own correct adjust to "short stacking" and other styles that you see being used or over used in a room you will find this room to be pretty soft overall.
