I'm a Jacksonville native and pretty much quit poker after the internet crash. I'm just now starting to experiment with BestBet.

My first night I sat at 2/5 with $160 and left a few hours later with over $500. I also beat 2/2 the first time I tried.

Since then though, I've tried 2/2 three more times and got felted every time. I've found it pretty annoying to grind. The tables are so wildly different each time I go. The time I beat it, it was a table of old men who played 100% straight. The second time, there were a few guys there who were competent. The third time (Sunday), I sat at two different tables and felt like some of the guys there must have been pros. They were sitting there in sun glasses, headphones, stacked with $400-500 plus. It felt like you really had to hustle to show an hourly profit, and people routinely call your bets all the way to the river just to chase their draws, only to suck out on you - that's killed me every time.

I also noticed it looks like the hourly rate for the winning players is still very low, probably with the high rake. Does anyone think 2/2 is worth it? I was initially thinking I'd learn to beat 2/2 then only play 2/5, but now I'm wondering if I should bother?

Pros at 2-2? doubt it. Probably just tournament players with the gear.

There is no way to beat 2-2 there for much if any money. IF they get in 40 hands an hour at max rake they are taking off $280 an hour off the table. Since so many buy in short that can be a huge percentage of the cash on the table. It probably averages less than that but then you have to take into account people buying food/massage with chips.

Yeah. There was one guy very deep stacked there complaining about 2/5 being too reckless. But when I sat at a 2/2 table for a good 4 hours or so I definitely noticed no one's stack seemed to have gotten any bigger than when I started, and several people rebought during that time.

hey im new to the boards but not to poker, Ive been playing at the 2/5 consistently for years now at bestbet and wanted to know if anyone else here wanted to be a poker buddy. Im trying to take my game to the next level and dont really have anyone to bounce things off of. I know the really good players talk to each other and to get there I need to do the same. This is new for me because normally I keep to myself. Hell Ive been playing at bestbet for about 4 years and I dont think anyone even knows my name lol. If your interested in taking your game to the next level...or bringing me up to yours and beyond hit me up.

Is there any app or site to show the live games that are currently running? Do the weekdays Monday-Thursday still have pretty decent action. Looking for mainly 2/5, possibly 5/10 but they may not run those on weekdays. Any locals could let me know?

I dont know of any apps, but as long as the doors are open, there is action LOL. 5/10 doesnt run as much anymore because those players are running to the PLO games

Plus the $5-5/$5-10 games died cause all the good younger players killed it. They were to good and killed the sheep instead of shearing em. Plus they did not act like a good host at the tables. Always saying neg things towards the weaker players and laughing at em ect... Plus it seemed as they were working as a team at those games (IMO).

But there were/are really good players at those games. They only show up when the big turnys are at BB. And that's usually the only time $5-10NL gets going.

Good info to know ...so during the week the highest games are 2.5..no 5.5? Any soft players at 2/5 usually or just reg sharks ?

a mix of both later on in the day. but usually during middle day time hrs its just old guys nut peddling so no action. And no 5-5 games. maybe a PLO game but if you are not really good at the game, then stay away from it or if you don't like $ then play it lol

Duwhatt is right. A lot of grinders moved in and killed the bigger games. They hurt the 2-5 games as well but their impact is diluted. Unlike south forida or tampa, there are just not that many wealthy people who play in the Jax rooms. Part of that is on management as they do a terrible job marketing to the wealthy areas, but the bigger problem is that the monied folks up here have a lot less gamble then they do in better areas.

We have a great 1-2 5 bringin plo game at Creek Entertainment that runs everyday if people are looking for a weekday PLO. It opens around 5-7PM and runs to close at 4AM.

The PM function. does not work for new 2+2 accounts like yours and duwhatt's.

thanks for that information, i'm guessing its probably 15 posts since thats no longer a "stranger" but maybe not. Anyway Duwhatt, I will be at the 2/5 game tonight around 8pm at BB Jax so if your there hit me up and we can talk a bit and maybe play together. Thats open to anyone else who wants to have a poker buddy to bounce ideas off also.

There is no app for BB that tells you what games are going and how many ect... like bravo does. But BB does have a app for phone that gives you promotions and jackpots and such.

You can always call BB if you want to know what games are running. I agree 100% that they should have one, but it has been years now that Bravo has been out and they don't have one... So I don't see them deciding to get one anytime soon.

Relatively new to BestBet (started playing there 5 months ago) and I generally stay pretty quiet at the table so I haven't exactly done a lot of networking. My name's Brent and I'm the 30-ish white dude always wearing a UGA cap. I usually play a few days a week, always 2/5 or 5/5. I'll be there tomorrow if you wanna seek me out and sey hey.
