I will be in Jax 1/16 thru 1/20 and would like to play a limit mixed game. Happy to negotiate the mix (flop, stud, draw, whatever) so all are comfortable and will play stakes from 5/10 to 20/40. Willing to play short-handed if we can't get a full game going.

Will be heading to JAX a few times in the next few months. Is it all 2/2 and 2/5? Any LHE? Does the 4/8 LO8 still run? Any chance of getting a list going for anything higher in limit or LO8?

IDK how much I can post here but just go to their website and you'll see a tab that says poker; just put your mouse on top of it and a bar will drop down, hover your mouse over Jacksonville and click on accommodations. They list 7 hotels nearby. Maybe a local can point you in a better direction if there is one.

I too am interested in cheap accommodations nearby. I have been to this area before but the best prices I found were near orange park. Leaving for jacksonville tomorrow.

I stayed at the place mentioned below. Really good value. Breakfast and wifi included.

There is a motel about 10 minutes away called Extended Stay America. Go to priceline.com and after you pick Jacksonville, FL look under express deals. The Butler Blvd 2 star is normally $28 a night. Holla!

As you go through the week it tends to get better, Fri and Sat nights are good with Thursday probably right behind...overall I notice it tends to be busier in winter than summer at all times, probably due to some northern transplants as well as the cold weather keeping people inside more.

The Hampton Inn and Marriott about 1 mile to the east offer best bet rates with a players card...the Marriott is my preferred one, 78$ a night its a new place and they have a small cafe for snacks and breakfast.

For the player wanting to grind 2/2 here, I wouldn't recommend it. The min buy in is $40 and it is almost exclusively a shove fest with not many skilled players. 2/5 can be very profitable and has the same rake.

From what I see, the PLO is all over the place. The 1/2 game runs a lot and is fun. The 5/5 is serious money (BIs anywhere from 300 to tens of thousands) and pretty wild. I don't play it but people are always telling stories about it.

5/5 PLO runs pretty regularly, 4/8 O8 runs just about every night. I haven't seen Limit HE above 3/6, but you can always put your name on the list and see what happens.

The PLO game runs regularly, but its often a bad game. There are 5-6 pros that have been camping it plus a few old tight types so a lot of times the mix is tough. But there are times that its amazing. Its been good for the room because its taken pros out of the NLH games. Some of the big fish tried it and lost a lot quickly - so they have left or shifted back to NLH.
