I stopped by there tonight to check it out, since I'm in Florida visiting family. Nice room, with attentive servers, decent dealers and good massage therapists. The games are ridiculously soft. I won 5 buy-ins in about 4 hours. Place is a fish farm. If I still lived in North Florida, this would be my go-to room.

Went there this past weekend. Played HE and PLO. lost w/ quad 8 ran into 9s in plo. Jacks or above for bad beat jp. Was steamed. but I got it back. Anyway, rake for 5/5 plo is crazy. $8 every 30 min. had a hard time filling table. had to drop it to 2/2 w/ no time rake.

Will be in Jacksonville next Tuesday for a week. Is this the best/only place to play in town? Staying at Ponte Vedra, so wondering if this is the closest place to go. Thanks.

Might book a trip down to Florida soon and play some cards. I could use a banana referral when the time comes as well

Is there any reason to visit one of the other 2 poker rooms while in town?
Plenty of action at the 70 table room I'm assuming right?

edit:
The fact that this thread doesn't get much action is probably a good sign.

Trip report Friday June 22nd-23rd:
I was very happy overall and the action is GREAT.

Auto shufflers on all tables and the dealers carry their own chip tray around so they don't have to waste time counting the well each time and can get fills on their time not ours.

The chairs are comfortable and have good back support, which is rare. They swivel and go up and down and have rollers. You can really put some hours in comfortably.

The room is spacious and there is plenty of room in between the 70 tables. Its very clean also. The floor and dealers are competent and professional. The free wi-fi works well and there are a ton of tv's everywhere with multiple sporting events/news on and there will be at least 1 tv in your area that will have the poker list of games.

There is no comps and they charge for all drinks. A quick look at the menu(iirc), $1.50 for bottled water(cup of water free), $1.75 for coke, $2 for juice, $1 for coffee and $3 for starbucks coffee. You can bring your own bottled water in if you like with no problems.

They have tableside food service with reasonable choices and prices and a large sushi menu, I am not into sushi but the guy next to me ordered a big sushi platter and it looked pretty damn good.

The supervisors walk around with Ipads and can update empty seats on the fly by pressing a few buttons and then they know up front. They had just installed some kind of software in the cut cards that can track how many hands each dealer deals per hour, they carry around there own cut cards. I have no clue how the tracking works, any guesses?

I was pleasantly suprised that the jackpot drop was only $1 because the majority of Florida rooms have moved toward $2 with more promos/bonuses. Hard Rock Tampa is one of the few that has $1 jackpot drop. For the $1 at best bet they have bbj quad tens or higher getting beat. It was only like 45k because it was hit twice in the last week or so. Also you paid $250 for royals and steel wheels, and certain days they have high hands every hour and the table gets $25/players if the person at your table wins plus whatever the bonus is for him/her.

One nice thing is, there is no minimum rake like alot of Florida rooms do. So it has to be $10 at least before any money is taken. So for 2/2nl(yea they don't do 1/2nl) blind steals won't take $1 like some places and if there happened to be $9 or less then no rake or jackpot. Guess what tho, in 2 days of play here, I never saw a blind steal. Your raises will get called!

There was a cop car out front that stays there and a cop inside and at night another cop in the parking lot. I'm not sure if this is always or just at night or just weekends, etc.

I did snag another royal to add to my collection just before I left. Got $250 and won a
nice pot. That makes at least 10 in my life(4 online and 6 live).
I will return at another time and probably stay longer. There is lots of money to be made there for sure.

Other than for safety reasons, I'd say no. The other 2 would be more prone to have wait lists on busier nights due to fewer tables. I hit up all 3 recently and the other 2 are in much better areas overall. The area that this location is in is bizarre...its located on the better side of Jacksonville but the 5-10 block radius immediately surrounding it is horrible, literally go a mile south or east and its beautiful but you definitely need to be careful walking back to your car at night if they don't have a cop/security officer around which they often do by the way. Remarkably they told me they had not had an incident in the parking lot yet, which is surprising given the general oblivious nature most people have.

Im there everyday, the security/police presence is always there there is always an unmarked car sitting by the entrance/exit and I have heard there are multiple in the parking lot with an officer in them, so safety in room and the parking lot is never really an issue, i have heard a couple instances of people being followed home though

BestBet has inspiring security. The parking lot is lit at bright as the sun, and they always have 2 cops in cars at both ends of the lot, and a cop on foot near the entrance. I never once felt unsafe walking to my car. The neighborhood is complete ghetto though. The Regency Square mall had such a high crime rate that they decided to put a police headquarters right in it. As everyone else has said, the room is fantastic, very clean, very modern, very well kept. They have so much room in there it's ridiculous, they could probably fit another 200 tables in there if they wanted.

There is always several tables of 2/5, and usually 1-2 tables of 5/10. The only time I've ever heard of limits going to 10/20 or higher is when there's some whales in the area, like a sports team in town or some such thing. I just spent a week at the Aria in vegas, and BestBet easily has more tables, although of course Aria spreads higher due to clientele.

If you go to jacksonville, I would see no reason to visit any other card room at all.

Definitely don't go to the st johns poker room. They have maybe max 2 tables going. They are about to close for good soon I think. They cut the hours because of no business. But there's no business because the room manager is a douche and the dealers are old and slow or the others aren't very friendly. The main room is nice and should be the only one you go to.

Made another weekend trip there this weekend. Hit Quad 4's in the 1st 5 min. of the promos this morning and had to sweat it holding for 55 min. with 7 tables going. It held and I got $100 + $180 super satty ticket which I sold. The whole table got $180 satty tickets. About a dozen people(vulchers) came up with still 55 min to find out if our table would hold with quad 4's, and starting negotiating prices to buy the tickets from everyone for. lol

p.s. Those $2 brownies are the bomb.

Anyone know how the WPT starting August 24th will work as far as how many cash tables will be available on friday afternoon/evening?

Are they going to leave a certain amount of tables open for only cash games?

Went to Jax this weekend and actually thought Best Bet Jax was amazing. The sheer enormity of the room and player volume alone are impressive. I played pretty poorly and managed to break even playing 2-2NL. Then I was playing 2-5 and ended up down $150 overall when my AQh pair of queens with a flush draw was rivered by a guy who made a bluff all-in on the turn and hit a gutshot straight.

Went to St. John's for a $340 tourney on Sunday, but we only got 17 runners. Should have stayed in Jax to get the $150 deepstack which I'm sure had at least 70 people.

A couple negatives.
- There are no comps and everything cost money, including $1.50 bottles of water.
- Because of the sheer volume of tables, it is pretty cramped

The positives:
- Game selection is very good for low to mid limits
- Dealers are competent and the players are generally friendly
- Floor runs the room well and the sign-in process goes seamlessly

It is actually a very nice room and I'll be back.

I knew when I got to St. John's and I could hear a pin drop that I made a mistake, but by then it was already 12:30.

On the bright side, we only had 5 players playing at the one 2-2 table and I ended up with high hand (A high flush!) from 12-1, so I got a spin on their wheel and won $100. Thank god it wasn't a hoodie!!
