Hello all,

I'm new to BestBet. My question has been touched upon earlier in this thread, but I wanted to see if anyone had any other experiences. How differently does 2/5 play than 2/2? How different is 5/5 than 2/5 (the max buyins are 1000 and 500 respectively right?)?

From my experience here thus far, 2/2 is soft but there is hardly ever enough money on the table. Does 2/5 fix this problem without taking too big of a step up in quality of opponent?

I am more of a recreational player, but I obviously want to maximize my winnings. So far I've only played 2/2 because the last casino I played at regularly only spread 1/2, and those are the stakes I am most comfortable.

Otherwise, the room is great and I have really enjoyed playing here!

It's definitely a great room?

The games are certainly different. You're right about 2/2. There is very seldom enough money on the table to make it worthwhile to play. 2/5 is better, but you still have a ton of players buying in for $100 at a time. The good news is they'll bust repeatedly and keep buying in for $100.

Now 5/5, that's a game! When I've played, usually 7 of the 9 players buy in for $1000. Very competent players, game moves fast and pretty much everyone knows what's going on. I would warn that most of these guys play together all the time, so watch for collusion as I'm sure some of it happens. But it's the best game there if you can afford it.

Good luck!

I just realized that a bunch of those $40 buy in guys are kind of a stable for this staker dude. Older black man who wears camoflogue jacket, don't wanna say his name here.

But I always overhear these guys talking about their results for the day, and wether or not they payed up with the dude for the night. The best was, the room closes at 4am, one of the 2/2 tables was getting crazier than usual with players agrreing to put $50 in pf dark. One of these stakee dudes who is there everyday goes from like $40 to $500 in 20 minutes, and then you see the old man limping fast out of nowhere with a rack and pulls the guy from the game, stacks the chips, and walks off to the cashier window while the stakee becomes a railbird for the last 10 minutes or so of the game.

There are a ton of guys who sit down with $40, and then a couple of guys with $100, and then a few guys in for 200 or have donked it up to $500 or so. Gets to a point where you pick the 200x + players and kind of have to disregard the $40 players in the hand, which should be mathematicly great for the shrt stacks, but they don't employ any type of short stack strategy at all. LOL at straddling every orbit with a dwindling $40 stack.

Don't think he's a staker, just a degenerate.

If you see me playing at a 2/2 table, it's because I'm on a wait list for 2/5 and/or 5/5. Or I'm drunk and don't want to think.

10/20 NL game last night. Sounded unusual for the room. Have no clue who most of those players were. Seemed to be 3 or 4 younger guys, with maybe 2 of them actually playing. Some older southern accent guy at the cage at the end of the night was cashing out 17k, but not sure if he was playing 5/10 plo or the NLH.

I have no clue who any of those guys are, but have probably only spent 100 hours total at the room, and only at 2/2. I recognize a bunch of 2/5 players from St John's days though.

Wow, I can honestly say the only time I've ever seen bigger than 5/10 spread is during the WPT events. Players must be arriving early! That's great for the room, though. It'll generate quite a buzz.

So 2/2 hasn't driven you insane yet??

Yeah, they were playing in that room up top, so never really saw the action.

2/2 hasn't driven me insane yet, I'll probably be stuck there most of the summer.

Anyone have an idea about how long the wait will be for 2/5 and 2/2 during the peak of WPT?

We had 5 head down from SC this weekend and all of us got beat up for the most part. Everything from tournaments to 2/2, 2/5, 5/10. Still had fun and met some great people as always. And had a couple nice dances at the Gold Club with some tatted up chick. Rah.
