Not even close. BestBet is far better due to type and number of players.

lol.

Best bet is a much nicer room and that's about it.

Daytona has WAY better promotions/high hands (and yes I factor these in because it does matter.)

Best bet does have more players but it also a much larger room.

Players at Daytona are more experienced and tighter than average compared to BestBet. That's why I think it is a no-brainer.

I agree. I also think that BestBet's promotions are coming along, slowly, but coming along. Keep in mind they haven't been open a full year yet!

Looking to move to Jax, to play out of the best bet room. What are some good communities that I should be looking into. That aren't more than 20-25 min from there... Looking to get a 3 bedroom house as me and the wife are coming.

I would contact a real estate agent. I assume that you know that real estate commissions are paid by the seller, and there is no cost to buyer. It does help to talk to an agent in the general vicinity of where you are looking, but I don't know your budget. Personally, I would look about 15-20 miles southwest of the poker room.

Try Daytona then, 2/5 NLHE.

I'm like you, not crazy about shovefests and don't like playing in Jax.

Sounds like an easy game to me. I wish I had been sitting at that table. Most all 2/2 games when I go are nitty as and/or stack sizes are nowhere near $300.

If you're a serious player, why are you playing 2/2 anyway? That game IS a nitfest, and I have very seldom seen anyone with a $300 stack as most of those players buy in for $40 to $100. Jump to the 2/5 table and play some real poker.

I very seriously doubt this! Did you just run into some bad beats? Everytime I've been there (I playe 2/5) and checked out the players at 2/2, stack sizes average $100 or less, with the occasional $200 stack. The 2/5 game is solid; you should try it.

I don't anymore. I used to, had some really good runs for a bit. I mainly stick with 2/5 when I do go. 2/5 is the polar opposite. With just $3 more BB and it completely changes people's perspective and style of play. It is not uncommon to have $200-$400 pre flop 5 ways.

And 2/2 is still winnable just takes way more patience considering how small the pot sizes are and like you said the nittiness.

I grinded 2-2 for about 6 months still will probably move back down, after my 2-5 shot taking ends, 2-2 is winnable with the right game selection if I'm in a game where the avg stack is 40-100, I transfer immediately hopefully to a game where they are playing like was just talked about, but I don't believe that game existed, there is normally one good 2-2 a night that is deep though with the worst poker players imaginable.

I'm looking for a 3 bedroom no more than 1200 a month. I've never been to best bet, we're going to look into the area and spend two days looking at rentals this upcoming weekend or next, but i'd like to know from some local players that play in the room what would be the most convenient area to live at and not be in the ghetto since I'm moving w my wife and son. Thanks guys....Areas around there like names so I can search diff websites would be great. When you say southwest where are you referring too? What areas? Thanks.

I have been to BestBet and am familiar with the area (but not an expert). OK, looks like you want to rent. I was not aware of that. Not sure if you want an apartment, townhome, or house. If you want an apartment, you should be able to find those yourself in the areas below by using a apartment finder website. Might want to contact a real estate agent about rentals of a townhome or house. If possible, contact an agent near where you are looking.
  • Open Google, click on maps, and type in 201 Monument Road Jacksonville, FL 32225
  • Then zoom out and you can see that southwest of there are some communities near Interstate Loop 295 such as Orange Park, Ortega Hills, etc. On the beach side (straight south) there is Loretto, Mandiran Station, Losco, etc, but these may be a bit more expensive (but maybe affordable), but a little nicer than the ones southwest. If you go southeast toward the ocean, that is also more expensive (but nice).
  • You could also try north of the BestBet around Pelican Park, Northside, Turtle Creek, etc where I295 intersects with I95 on the north side of town. I am less familiar with that area, but there should some fairly nice apartments in that area, and you can zip down 295 to the poker room.

Here are some apartment websites:
http://jacksonville.apartments.com/
http://www.apartmentfinder.com/Florida/Jacksonville

This site will show houses for sale, but will give you an idea of neighborhoods if you are looking for a rental home or townhome.

Thanks man, yeah I think after looking around on the net, best bet is to stay east of Jax closer to the BestBet and the ocean. Looking into a lot of areas, just need to find the one that fits best now and move into the area! Looking forward playing there and other area rooms......!

Bump!

Anyone been playing the 5/5 NL since they got it going? A buddy of mine played in it once a few weeks ago and said it was extremely tough. If so, does everyone buy in for max amount?

How many of ya fellas are running out of this room as a pro grinding it out? Soon to be me, so I'd like to make some acquaintances and know if the action is juicy or not in the cash games.....

You guys playing mostly during the week? I was trying to find out if it's worth it to drive down for a couple days and play. I'd do 2/5 and possibly 5/5. Thanks.

Better off playing 2/5 and 5/5 in the evenings -- a few more randoms and drinks the later it gets. Games earlier in the day, although soft, have a lot more of the nitty old dudes buying in short etc...
