It's at least mostly 1/3 NL in the overflow area. Since there's only one 4/8 game, it wouldn't help much to displace that table.

I played for awhile and actually liked it over there though. It was quieter over there, and less smoky than the tables near the rail in the main room.

I actually like the main room because of the noise and lower ceilings. (I understand why people don't like it though) The smoke along the rail is mildly tilting. Either way, excited they finally added a bunch of tables for peak season.

The real question is, are they gonna be needed once parking fees go in next week? *sarcasm*

Is there seriously constantly 3 tables of 200-400 mix running? Unbelievable.

During WSOP, it gets a little crazy in the big rooms....

Sat over there for a few hours waiting on a seat to open in a larger game...quieter perhaps, but cocktail service sucked. Also, depending on time of day, there was far more smoke in the air if you are sensitive to that sort of thing (I am).

Other difference, if it matters, was manual shuffle as opposed to machine and dual decks.

Anybody played in the 80 lhe during the wsop? How's it been?

Was in it a few weeks ago. Two of the sessions were very good tables and the other day was a table of death.
Just depends on the luck of the draw. Definitely helped when there were two games going.

The temporary tables during the WSOP worked out well. Felt like the biggest benefactors were 5/10 players as they were able to spread more tables this year.

Some people complained they didn't have shufflers on those tables, but neither does the Pavilion room.

So, I haven't been in town for over a month, but have been checking Bravo Poker Live occasionally to see how the ailing 10/20 limit game has been doing in my absence. Looks like it went just a few days ago, but now yesterday and today there has instead been a 9/18 game going. I'm curious to hear if anyone has played in it and what they think of its prospects.

I can remember when commerce had a 9/18 limit game in the old top section of the main room say 2001-2004. It was good action! I like a 3/6 chip structure limit game. I heard the 10/20 game was dying so maybe this will juice it up! Would love to see the 15/30 and 30/60 come back as well.

The 10/20 was already juicy IMO. Lowering the stakes when you know they will eventually increase the rake just makes things worse. The 10/20 is dying because limit has been dying and with fewer limit players below 10/20 there aren't going to be as many players moving up. And poker is less popular now.

Also 8/16 makes more sense if you're going to do this. But the 10/20 was fine.

I don't think they have $2 chips. They have lots of $3 chips, leftover from when that was max rake amount.

They have the 9/18 going with a half kill right now. I like that much better!

I just saw that listed. Is this the first day with a kill? Are you playing right now?

It can't really be 1/2 kill on 9/18 though, is it a 1/3 kill to 12/24 or something else?

Wow that sounds fun. Will definitely check that out next time I'm in town.

I didn't play in it (was playing NL in the room). Don't know if they did this before. I think later they were running just a regular 9/18 which was disappointing.

Why disappointing if you weren't playing it anyway?

I have never understood why kills are popular, I have never liked them myself. Though if it would actually make the game more popular I would support it.

$2, $3 chips? Or $5, $1 on the 9/18??

Be there in a month!

When they had 8/16, 15/30, and 30/60, the 8/16 was playing with $1 and $5 chips which was bad for the game. Even though a 2 chip 4 chip structure of 10/20 makes the game look small and tight, I think that is better than the 8/16 without $2 chips. So 9/18 might be even better!

I never even saw the 8/16 go when it was one of the official games.

They are using $3 chips for 9/18. As I said, they have tons from when $3 was max drop. I was there on Tuesday evening and tried to play. There were 9 people on list when game was called, but only 3 showed up.

I like limit and NL. Just because I didn't play in it yesterday, that doesn't mean I won't play in it. If it becomes a regular game I definitely want it to be a kill game.

Kill games are great. You get to play a game that's bigger than 9/18 occasionally against 9/18 limit players who suck, and it encourages gambling and action. If you have a decent edge your winrate will be higher. Many gambly fish love kill games and players often make more mistakes in them. A kill game with the $3 chips sounds like the best thing ever.

going out next month
so the limit choices will be 4-8, 9-18, 10-20 and up?

Apparently 9-18 has replaced 10-20. Beyond that is 20-40 and 40-80. 4-8 is lowest.
