Why can't a billion dollar casino put cup holders on or in their poker tables?

Because they don't want stuff spilled/splashed on their tables? They have those little mobile table/carts, don't they?

Nope. Glasses go on the table on a napkin. Order enough food and you get a cart, but a small order they might put on a chair with a towel draped over it.

Okay then, OP's question is legit then. I would wonder that too since every little back alley podunk casino I've been to has solved this problem and you'd think the B could maybe skip one of the million dollar chandeliers and splurge on something as simple as a place to put your drinks.

I always wondered this myself. It's pretty regular occurence that the floor is called over to clean up a spilled drink.

Just speculating but perhaps it has something to do with the overall Bellagio expercience. Sort of an elegante detail or something. After all, cups holders are not elegant.

I believe the Bellagio and previously the Mirage wanted to cater to players that wouldn't get drunk and spill their drink. Do you have drink holders in your house?

The blackjack tables (anywhere) don't have cup holders, think about how classless that would look if they did. It is an unelegant detail, and they're trying to maintain a certain standard. So the question is whether the occasional spillage outweighs the lack of refinement. I think we know where they stand on that.

It doesn't really matter who they hoped to cater to if the drunks are still spilling their drinks. To your question, I don't have drink holders in my house, but I also don't keep my drink on a felt-covered surface while I and one other person are performing actions and making motions with our hands around it, so..

I honestly think the Bellagio poker room would choose to have carts if the room were big enough to accomodate them, but it isn't. So now there is no place to put drinks that looks elegant at all. I understand them not wanting cup holders, though.

Just wait'll you're playing when the room is 100% full, every table is in use, and someone dumps an entire strawberry julius across the table and cards and into the shuffler. Bellagio does many things well, and many things very poorly. This is "poorly".

^ that's what people are calling inelegant. And it is. The elegant way to do it is with cup holders built into the table. Venetian and GVR tables both look better than Bell tables and have cup holders built into the table. It has nothing to do with elegance, it has to do with costing money and a beaucracy that makes it difficult to make a major change. Also, the problem ain't that bad. Spills are rare enough that it isn't that big of a deal. Consider also that it is harder to clean tables with cupholders. They're using the low tech option because it costs less money. pretty simple.

Spills may not happen very often, but it's a pain to be checking your cards, making bets, etc., in the small space in front of you while also being care to not even gently bump your drink standing on a soft, unstable surface. This is one of the detractors of the Bellagio experience imo.

Finally! I wonder if I had anything to do with this? I was at Bellagio over the holidays sitting at an empty table waiting to get into a $20-40 LHE game. 4 other guys were sitting there waiting for games too and we were talking about being a little bored with LHE. I said, "We got 5 of us here, let's start a HORSE game."

We were all waiting for different limits, so we agreed to go with $10-20 since it was the lowest common denominator that everyone would feel comfortable with. A 6th guy sat down and agreed to play as well. I went over to the floor lady and told her we had 6 people wanting to play $10-20 HORSE and asked if we could get it started. She said, "Bellagio only spreads mix games at $40-80 and higher." I was very surprised by this! I figured she was being sarcasitc, but nope! It wasn't allowed. We had 6 people ready and willing, and I'm sure others would have come too if it got started. One of the guys at the table was a reg and talked to her and then came back and said she wasn't allowed to do it, so there nothing that could be done.

Anyway, now about a month later I see this on twitter :-) I can't wait for my next trip in the spring!

Yes, that crusty Bellagio felt is elegant alright.

It may not happen much at the high limit tables, but try the low limit tables sometime. The tables crunches when you put a drink on it.

Don't get too excited. I went this week (after the twitter post) and the floor told me the exact same thing.

10/20 Mix has run once or twice lately...

Does anyone know what the ante and bring are in the 20/40 Stud game? Per earlier posts it seems to run Friday and Saturday, is this still accurate?

$3 ante $5 bring in usually.

I understand that they started spreading 1-2 to fill empty tables. However, the room is still at capacity during the WSOP and I am sure at other busy times. This really sucks for limit holdem/stud players who have no other options.

Couldn't they just open up another room for cash games like the one they use for tournaments during those peak periods? Alternatively, they could stop spreading 1-2 on the busy nights where the room would fill up without it.

Last year during WSOP, I had to wait ages almost every time I went to Bellagio.

Being so crammed together is no fun either.

Will be visiting to play end of April, could anyone assist on how tough the 2/5 NL games are during the week...trying to decide if I want to play 2/5 or move up to 5/10

There's no such thing as a tough 2/5NL game in Vegas.

One time last year during WSOP I was at a 2-6 spread limit table at Oshea's and Brian Hastings was in the game. I assure you it was a tough game. Any game in Vegas can be a tough game if the wrong people are in the game.
