It's all nlhe and almost all Cash Games. It's a pretty small but vibrant scene. Belize City has the largest games at Princess Casino which has a dedicated Poker Room with six tables - the room is run by Bob Bounahra, one of this years WSOP Nov 9. Open Thurs - Sun games start around 7pm, 5pm on Sun. US$1/2 and 5/10. Sometimes a 2/5 & 10/25 if theres a call. I live on Ambergris Caye/San and the main game is at Pedro Pedro's Poker Club. Small Tournaments Sunday 5pm (US$50 bi stt) with cash after and Cash only Monday and Weds 7pm usually US$1/2 - 2/5 usually just one table. In high season (winter) we often play more nights just depends on numbers and who is here snowbird locals etc. There are a few home games around if here for a while and a small Casino North of town at Captain Morgans but unless you're staying up there it's out of the way and all the locals tend to play at Pedro's. There are a couple of Casino's in Northern Belize near Corozal in a Duty Free Zone at the Mexican border but I hear games are sporadic. Caye Caulker has a home game centered around Oceanside Bar so if there ask.

Should have some adventure about you and left The Tourism Village then. As with many poorer Countries the large Cities often don't offer too much.

Will be in Belize for the first time in Feb. I have heard not to go out after dark in Belize City -- are there safety concerns regarding carrying cash in/out of the club (I'm a big, athletic guy if that makes any difference (likely not))?

What is the min/max bi in all the games you listed (other than 10/25 as I don't play that high)?

Rake structure in all games?

Is it possible to make a living as a pro playing in Belize City and living somewhere nicer (large enough player pool and frequent enough games over 1/2)?

Just concerned about cash games, thanks.

While I wouldn't say not to go out after dark in Belize City there are some no go areas, like most Cities. Taxi to get around is the way to go and The Princess is a Hotel Casino, albeit a pretty crappy Hotel.

San Pedro on Ambergris Caye can be a midweek or perm base with a couple games and then weekends in Belize City - the Poker rate is around US$60 a night at Princess and flights US$70 round trip. Rake is high 10% capped at US$25 same in 1/2 and 5/10 - so 1/2 is a tough ask for a pro. All food and drink is free. Games are pretty high variance with lots of chasers often no matter the price. 1/2 is US$50/200 bi ? (not certain on this it could be 100/300) 5/10 is $500 min with no upper limit, and I have seen people buy in 10k.

At 5/10 Most start at the min when the game starts and then rebuy bigger and bigger as stacks on table grow. There is always a game at each stake, 2/5 rarely runs, but table selection will be one of two, but I have never once found it an issue as there is always plenty of action. Hope it helps.

Let me know if you do come down and I'll be happy to show you round.

Isn't Belizean poker 'run' by Bob Bounahra? of WSOP ME fame? Not sure how active he is on Twitter ... or just get a hold of his son-in-law Antonio Esfandiari. GL

I looked but did not find a thread in V&C for Belize. I am on a cruise with a stop in Belize. Normally we dive in Belize but for a change we are diving Coz and Roatan. We are a little old and out of shape to dive three days in a row.

I have heard there is a casino in Belize city, Princess? True? Does it have poker? Is the casino safe? Safe getting there? Where is ur locates and how does one get there? Can one go and easily get back to cruise ship?

Will cruising to Belize City in early March. Is Princess Casino still open? Do they still have poker? Is casino and getting to/from safe? Are they open mid week during the day? We are not doing any formal excursions so considering a short visit just to check it out, worth it?

Well we went and decided to catch a cab to the ramada just to see. The casino is def still there and wife had some fun playin old single line single coin nickel slots. We were there during the day on a wed. The casino was basically dead late in the morning. Poker supposedly runs Thursday thru Sunday starting at either six or eight in the evening. So no chance to actually play but did not expect to have that chance during the day mid week.
