I had a really nice time at the Beau. The casino was beautiful, I only played poker for a little bit because my gal was with me, but the action was fantastic. Many calling stations at the 4/8 game and the $50 and $75 splash pots made for some huge pots and easy money. The staff all seemed professional and the locals were pleasant to play with...although I think they thought I raised a bit too often.

I strongly recommend the Biloxi area if someone is looking for a warm get away.

Anyone play here in the past during their tournaments? I'm thinking of coming down from Wisconsin in January during their "Million Dollar Heater" series, but I only want to play cash games. Is it worth it or is it overcrowded then? Don't want to fly down and have to wait hours for cash game seats to open up....../thanks

Games are always good, especially during the Heater and GCPC. Locals are an older crowd that love to gamble and games are not capped. In years past it was not uncommon to see 5 figure buy ins on 2/5 with no need to even spread 5/10. They love four and five card here too. Sadly, there has been a steady decline over the past few years of big games during the series but the room takes care of its players.

You will wait a very long time for cash if you show up after about 1pm but they do their best to open more tables when they can. If all tournament tables are on the gaming floor instead of upstairs in the convention area it is even more of a mess however even the upstairs space was cut in September.

Regardless- good food, friendly folks, mostly nit free and the mild weather will beat the hell out of Wisconsin in Jan.

Some ofthe best 2/5 cash around, as mentioned above. But yes you will have to wait if you get to the room in the afternoon. Room is very accommodating($3/hr comps), deliver food to table, and open tables upstairs for more cash as needed.

I'd recommend. Tournaments are great as well

I'm heading to the Beau next week. Planning on playing the 6 max, and the monster stack the following day.

Which days will be super busy for cash? I'm doing the Houston Marathon next Sunday and might take a detour to Biloxi on the way back. Probably will decide about that spontaneously on MLK day, also depending on the weather.

It will probably be busy all weekend and end to Monday.

I haven’t been here in a very long time. They used to have a poker room rate for the hotel but you had to call the poker room to get it setup. Do they still do this? Used to be $79 a night if i remember right.

Book through the office, they are there around 9-5 M-F central time. Have your MLife and dates ready if you need to leave a message and she will call you back with your confirmation. $79 Sun-Thurs, $99 on the weekends. 888-567-6667

I cant remember if smoking is allowed in the casino or not but I dont remember smelling any as I walked thru. There's definitely no smoke at all in the poker room

The smoke at the Beau is pretty bad on the weekends and there is the usual cloud at the front of the poker room right where people can start smoking. The front three tables become unbearable on busy weekends.

Shampooing my hair twice still doesn’t get the smell out. I have to keep a dryer sheet in my suitcase and bring plastic bags to contain my clothing after a weekend at the Beau. The rooms are now non smoking but the drawers and closets still smell. To put it in perspective, I just unpacked 6 days of Vegas laundry, was at the Westgate, Aria, CP, Venetian, Bellagio, Linq, Cromwell, Harrahs’s, Flamingo, Bally’s, Monte Carlo and Planet Hollywood and can barely smell smoke.

That sounds horrible. I play in Tunica mostly, and there is smoking outside the poker room as well, but at the end of an 8 hour session, I can't - or barely can - smell smoke on my clothes. Not sure I could deal with BR if as bad as you say.

I absolutely hate cigarette smoke and refuse to play anywhere that has smoke drifting into the poker room. I cant remember what day of the week I was in January but as I said earlier I didnt smell even a hint of smoke when I was there.

The difference between the Shoe in Tunica and Beau Rivage is that the latter is close to busier smoking areas of the casino while nobody gets close to the Horseshoe poker room unless they want to play poker or eat.

It isn't close to as described. Smoke in casino yes. Pr is physically a p room that has always been non smoking. And the area right outside the room is not a really high traffic stand around and smoke area.

How deep does the 1/3 play during the week? My main game is 2/5 but as I see on bravo 1/3 takes precedence here

From my somewhat limited experience, there are always a couple people who buy-in for the min $100 = 33BB. Fortunately, I've never witnessed one of them playing any kind of proper short stack strategy which would definitely be possible given the larger open raise sizes compared to online games.

Sometimes there are several players with 200BB+ and I've seen people buy-in for $1000+ but I am not sure what makes players decide to do that. First I thought it was when at least one bad player was deep, but I've also seen the 80% VPIP guy being the biggest stack without anyone matching and other times where the better players were the ones with big stacks even though none of the week players was deep.

Hmph... A bit dissaponting to hear after hearing from a couple people in my local room that it plays quite deep lots of "old guys with money" and not really taking up a seat shortstacking. Was expecting it to be just like a 2/5 1kmax at a minimum

I mean it plays way deeper than your regular 1/3 100BB cap game and 'old guy with money' is the perfect description of the majority of hotel guests at Beau Rivage.

I don't know how deep your 200BB max 2/5 game plays, but especially if the min buy-in is 50BB+, I highly doubt the BR 1/3 game creates bigger average pots.

But I doubt you'll find many games in public card rooms without players buying in for the minimum? I can't remember the last time sitting at a 9 handed table anywhere, where not at least 3 players had 50BB or less in front of them.

Yeah, not many old richs in Biloxi, the rich all retire to Florida or other nicer places. As for the game, it's been a while, but I don't remember it being particularly deep, I recommend you the 1/3 in nearby NOLA, that played a lot deeper and with more action (limited sample size)
