Bump for the beau. Nicest Casino/poker room in the south east

No max buy-in at 1/3 or 2/5 NLHE. Huge stacks and crazy gameplay as the night gets later. Love playing at the Beau.

Played there from 07-09. Great room.

Is the Beau still packed? Or has everyone moved to FL? I haven't played in quite awhile, always used to go to the Beau. It was about a 6 hour drive for me. I remember there were at least 5 tables of 1/2 running during the day, and 1 2/5 game, but my friend said there aren't many tables running anymore. Is this true?

Does anyone have a report on the change in poker room location? I understand they temporarily moved the room. Where is the new room? Is it playable? And anyone know the new location or why they are doing this?

new room is next to the coast night club/restaurant (personally i like it but haven't played yet late on a friday/saturday night when they have a band playing). It used to be a memphis restaurant or something like that... same number of tables (16). Same room they have played some tournament tables during the last year to go along with the conference room upstairs.

I'm not sure if it is temporary only or if they are seeing how the players like it versus the other room. It is nice being away from the slots (so if you are familiar with lost and found then the new room is right there close to it).

Thanks for the update. That is near the maon cage right? That seems like a substantially better spot to attract table game traffic. Seems like a positive development. Its been a while since I've been there but now looking forward to it.

correct. Just around the corner from main cage... between the Coast (club/restaurant) and the lost/found and main cage. Restrooms right outside the poker room too.

Going over to the Beau this Friday and Saturday night. Haven't been to the Beau since 4th of July weekend. Didn't know about the new poker room location. Can't complain about being close to the bathrooms though. I always hated walking half way across the floor thru all the old people and slot machines to use the bathroom.

Anyone know if the 10/20 Omaha-8 game still goes on Friday and Saturday?

Usually does. Had 2 tables this past Saturday. Sometimes it goes during the week.

Any info on the 2/5nl game at BR? What's the crowd like? Last time I went to Biloxi, I got the feeling that it was kind of a retirement community, in which case the poker might be highly conservative. Am I wrong?

Lots of regs at 2/5, a few are pretty aggressive but most are pretty tight and nitty as you'd expect.

I was considering trying to get out to the Beau this weekend or next for this tournament series they have going on to play cash. I looked on Bravo and it said there were more than 50 people waiting on the 2/5 list last night...

Was anyone there last night?

How crazy was the room? Any chance they open more tables this weekend? What are the chances of finding a seat at any game if you aren't there before 5pm? Are they running the tourney in the main room or do they have it set up in a satellite area?

It will probably be more packed tonight and tomorrow I'm just trying to figure out if its worth the effort to get there.

What's the max buy in for 2/5?

What's the typical stack size in 2/5?

Is there a MS straddle?

Thanks

No max. Average stack depends on the lineup, but the game plays bigger than a "normal" 2/5 imo. MS straddle is allowed. Some players always do it when they're otb, others don't, so it varies.

Just moved to Mobile, AL. I'm looking to play here, and I love the no max format. I saw earlier that rooms are only $99 under the poker rate. Is this still an active deal? And how do I qualify for this poker rate? I may have a bit too much too drink and so I would not want to make the hour drive home this weekend. Thanks!

It's active afaik. Give the poker room a call directly to book it. I think it's 5 or 6 hours per day played to qualify.

I hate to make an assumption but I am indeed assuming that the BR has 1/2 NL games going all day? Are they pretty soft? I see the post above that the 2/5 tends to be filled with regulars and remains nitty...

Just trying to get an idea before I end up in Gulfport next month.

Thanks!

The 2/5 game is generally more "nitty" on day shift, but around 7-8PM, the game gets better.

The 1/3 games are uncapped and generally play as big as 2/5 games in most other markets. After about 11AM there are always between 2 and 5 1/3 games going, with more on weekends...

What happened to the weekend 10-20 Omaha 8 game? It's not running on a Saturday night. Is that normal?

Report on my stay at Biloxi:

Stayed at Harrah's because even at Platinum (not Diamond) I was able to stay for free there on comps. Easy cab or drive to IP and BR. Played BR most of the time. Spent a lot of time grinding 1/3. Took several bad beats where guys called ridiculous amounts with gutshots on flop and turn and got blindsided the river. Play was pretty aggressive with some guys raising preflop, checking out of position, then re-raise jamming 500 into the pot when half pot bets of 30 were made by button. Witness a lot of that move in NoLa too. Different kind of agro from other places I've played.

I thought the 2/5 at BR was a great game to be in. One night while I was there it spontaneously changed from a 2/5 NL to a 1/2/5 PLO. Two or three of the skilled NL big stacks should have picked up when that happened but they didn't. I saw one guy gush 3500 in under an hour after a really long, well played 2/5 grind. The IP game was pretty good too. They are running 2 1/3s midday. I didn't see a 2/5 there but the 1/3 plays big because people buy in deep. Overall, I think that game is good and probably awesome on the weekends. Def worth a stop for a couple days on your way past on I-10.
