Welcome to Northern California NLHE. Three blinds is the way we've played since dinosaurs walked the earth.

Is there a thread like this for Garden City? I will be travelling there soon and would like some info about their upcoming move and other things.

I was fooled at first too, but if in November they didn't even have final approval yet, I assume they haven't even started construction. Actually with something that big and fancy, I don't know how they will get it done in 13 months. Maybe the card room will open before the hotel? Or did I misread it and construction has already started? It would be nice if there were a Garden City thread that had more info from anyone who knows.

Rumor is the current owners have no intention of building it. They want the approvals so they can sell it to someone who will build it. If they can't sell, it stays as is.

Then they are sinking in a lot of money up front on plans, lawyers, etc.

The approval process for new owners takes quite a bit of time. They have to be approved by both the city and the state. One of their original group had to back out. Bay101 had similar problems (the two brothers who were supposed to be the majority owners on the license were turned down by the state and they had to restructure the ownership).

The 'rumor' might be true for the hotel part, but I'm pretty sure they will go ahead with the casino part without waiting for buyers.

Re: Bay 101, San Jose CA Thread

Lobby time == time away from the table
Bathroom break, meal, walking around the building.
In theory, at the two SJ clubs, if you are gone from the table for 20 minutes, they page you and then pick up your chips (if there is a list for your game) and put another player in your seat

These 'walkers' piss me off. They are usually short stacks, they leave for 20 minutes, come back and wait for the BB to come around. Then the play a few hands and get up again.

For the limit games, they put in the blinds for the walker after the first round.

Why don't they do the same thing for the 2-3-5 NL game???

In 20/40, $3 goes into the pot every time the button passes you and you have a missed blind button in a full game (including in full games with no list). $5 for 40/80 and 80/160. Not sure about 8/16, I thought they didn't do it there, could be wrong.

They also did it for the old 10/200 spread game. They probably do it for the bigger NL games. Kinda backwards, imo. Lists are a lot more prevalent in the small games.

No more lobby charge in the big games as of a month ago or so.

eldon was the one who got that in. it is too small to matter in the big games but does make live ones quit when they have something to do for a ten or twenty minutes.

Re: Bay 101, San Jose CA Thread

I wouldn't mind seeing it in the small games. They have long lists the most often, and the players that lobby are off doing lord knows what. Last week a guy was gone for a long time from a 1/2/2 NL game. Turns out he was playing in a 2/3/5 game!
