Let's not get carried away with nostalgia here. Those chairs didn't even swivel.

Can someone comment on whether the high limit side still has the same capacity (6 tables: 3 20/40, 1 40/80, 1 80/160, plus one must move)?

The hell with decor.

Nothing wrong with the old tables and chairs. They were the best I've played on anywhere.
Really? Damn lol

New room for a place that always had long waits, and now 10 fewer tables, wow.

I don't want swivel. Swivel means when the guy next to you swivels, the seat back bangs into my chair. Swivel also reminds me of the Bellagio (worst chairs in poker) or the Wynn or Venetian. They swivel and look okay from 6 feet away but have terrible comfort.

The old Bay chairs were very comfortable and had the wide feet that slide easily on carpet.

In their defense the last three times I went, I walked right into a game.

Bay 101 eliminated 6/12 limit (my favorite game) and replaced it with 4/8. They also raised the collection from $5 to $6. I am also a baccarat player and with the addition of EZ Baccarat games, I will play them at will

Will be visiting the area for a week in November. Do they ever spread mix games and if not, any recommendation for driving distance location in area that does? Looking for mid-higher (10/20-50/100) stakes. Thanks.

There are no mixed games anywhere in the greater Bay Area as far as I know.

Does an 8-hour drive to Commerce count as "driving distance"?

The poker tables are all in one area now, with no separation of high-limit and low-limit. That may change in the future, but for now there are only 21 poker tables in total. I suspect they will try to keep 4-6 high limit tables, but I'm sure it will depend on demand.

When I played Friday afternoon, there were 3 20/40's, and 2 80/160's and all 21 tables were in use.

There is some talk that they may possibly move the high limit tables to a different area, but I'm sure they're going to see how it plays out first.

Some freebies given out on Friday -- Nike Bay101 hat, money clip and chocolate bar. Also Straits, who will be running the restaurant, had a free food buffet line that was pretty good.

No more free coffee station. They dropped drink prices a bit the last couple of days -- was $3.25, dropped to $1.

I got there about 1:30 PM Friday. All 21 poker tables were already in use and lists were pretty long at most limits. They had four 4-8 table, five 8-16 tables, three 20-40 tables, two 80-160 games. I think there was one 1-2-3 no limit, three 2-3-5 no limits and one 2-3-5 no limit deep stack. There was one table of 8-16 Omaha. That only adds to 20 tables so I think there may have been one more no limit table.

I did not like the new chairs. They were soft enough and they swivel, but the back support did not seem good to me. Tables are too close together. The Asian games tables are spread out nicely, but the poker tables are all cramped with barely room to walk between tables.

The main desk is for limit games up to 8-16 and all the NL games as before. They look to be using the same software and have the same lists displayed on a screen. The high limit games are run by floor at a stand in the back, but there is currently no list displayed. The old low tech board didn't move, wouldn't fit in to new place. I assume the floor has the lists on paper.

While the poker tables were fully occupied the whole time I was there, many of the Asian games were not. I didn't see anyone at the baccarat tables, not even a dealer. Black jack tables had very few players. Some 3 card poker players, but hardly full.

Parking lot seems huge, should be able to find parking, but may be a long walk.

Sounds like it's been M8trix-ized somewhat. Believing there's more money in Asian games, M8trix dumped a bunch of poker tables. The thing is, most of the time when you go in there, there are lots of the Asian game tables with just a dealer and a Corporation hack. No players.

why don't they just raise the rake until the profitability per table is equal between poker and asian games? i'm sure they're not not doing it to be nice to poker players.

Went yesterday night. Can confirm the current poker room setup is roughly 20 tables. All were filled up and in use until the wee hours.

Current table setup:

Main Cage - Private Cage
- High Limit Brush - 80/160 - X - X - X
- 20/40 - X - X - X
- 20/40 - X - X - X
- 20/40 - X - X - X
- Main Brush - X - X - X

The ambience has definitely upgraded. The dealers are wearing sleek black uniforms. The place is more welcoming and doesn't reek 90s cardroom with white or beige walls. Confirmed the 80 game is now a rake game. Couldn't get in after several hours waiting and no table or dealers available to start a second. The restaurant isn't open yet and their food service underestimated demand for thirsty customers. They ran out of beer..

I would be very surprised if the M8trix doesn't try to undercut the mid/high limit games from Bay given the table situation.

I'd rather be able to play than have nice ambience. I never once went to a poker room for their ambience.

Nah, if anything they are more a fan of Asian games than Bay.

It was running pretty much everyday before the move, I would guess it revitalizes when things stabilize with the tables and the hubbub dies down.

Also to note: I have Sprint and there was no reception in the poker room. I was on roaming for the most part. Free wifi though.
