It may be just the high limit board that takes them (20/40+ FL, 5/T NL).

They were taking call ins yesterday.

Im across the street at the other place right now... How is it looking at 101? This place is slow. May go over there if it is better action.

Usually hopping for sure by mid-afternoon on Friday. Lists for 1/2/2 and 8/16 will be multi-hours long by 4 pm. OTOH the WSOP just started so a lot of people may be out of town.

Aside from 10/25 NL, I want to say that every limit at every game has more action going at Bay 101, regardless of day or time.

Why are you across the street in the first place?

Heh, I went by to check it out. The WSOP appears to have decimated it. Many lists had only a dozen or so names.

M8trix blows for LHE but they rule 10/25 and 1/2/3 NL. Bay 101 sucks for 1/2/2 because most of the time they only run 2 tables and the list takes forever to move. So basically it's not a hard choice between the two depending on what stakes you play.

Moved from the SF area right before M8trix opened. Curious how's the 1/2/3 structure game @ M8trix? Is a preflop "call" $3 in this game or is it double ala the 1/1/2 @ LC?

Three bucks. It's not uncommon for them to have 4 or 5 tables running.

Has 5/t/t been running during wsop? If so, what days and what is the general climate of the game these days?

i love it the way bay players hate matrix, and matrix players hate bay - but both reminisce fondly of the garden city days.

and the not taking callings for the deepstacks thing was some kind of management mistake for a week or two; they're now taking callins again for deepstack+5/T/Tnl and for 20/40 limit+

You couldn't be more wrong.

I play both places, the NL action is much better at M8trix for both 1-2-3 and 2-3-5.

Its pretty clear you hate M8trix, I'm sure you have your reasons. But saying the action is better at Bay is just not accurate.

+1. When Bay has 2 tables of 1/2/2 going, M8trix might have 5 1/2/3 tables going. The difference is not as wide at 2/3/5, but several of the "actionest" 2/3/5 guys I remember from Bay, I see now at M8trix.

The bad side of this is this is not exactly news to players, and the lists at M8trix can get very long at times.

I don't hate M8trix, they just never had any games when I dropped by or called (except a 3/6 LHE). And every time, I just walked out and drove over to Bay, where everything was running.

Maybe things have changed since I last went; I'll concede I stopped checking since I've played more big LHE.

For LHE, Bay is is obviously the place to go. No argument there.

Even outside of LHE, I've seen more NL at Bay, and there's O8 at Bay (except I heard there was a 20/40 O8 that goes irregularly at M8).

I don't check M8trix any more, but I'd be more than happy to check it out - I do make an effort to play at every place in the Bay Area, just to experience it.

Anyone know if there are good places for poker in the East SF Bay Area or SF itself? SJ is just a bit of a drive for me for most occasions.

Last week I was playing the 40-80 at Bay 101 on my lunch break and I got up with 1 big grey chip and a bunch of reds in my rack. Headed to the cage to cashout when I realized I had left my phone on the table. As I turned around to go back the big chip fell out onto the floor without me noticing ( I usually put them in my pockets for exactly this reason). Anyway I headed back to the table, and in that time some random dude who is apparently a 3/6 regular swooped in, saw the chip on the ground, pocketed it and left. I noticed 5 mins later that the chip was missing, They rolled the tape and saw the guy who did it. San Jose's finest was called in, and they spent an hour looking at the tape, and concluded that they unable to treat it as theft because he hadn't seen me drop the chip. But they did agree to send someone to the guy's house to try to scare him to give it back (they traced him through his car plates). Nobody home. So then they dropped it and I gave up hope.

2 days ago the dude rolled in to bay with the chip in his pocket. One of the floor ladies (god bless her) id'd him from the pics they had and asked him to give it back or he would be barred. The guy asked if he could be put on a payment plan (lol). She said no way, so then he decided that being barred from his 3/6 game was worse than losing the 1000$ essentially free money and gave it back. That chip is back in my pocket now.
So:

1. lol at that guy. how sick of a gambling addiction must he have that he turns down 166 big bets so he doesn't have to stop playing his 3/6 game that he probably loses 20$ an hour at.

2. Careful with your big chips !

3. A big fat thank you to the entire Bay 101 staff and management for their extremely professional behavior and service to a good customer. Also to the SJPD who did the best they could for me, despite having more important issues to deal with I'm sure.

Nice ending. Usually those stories don't seem to turn out so well.

Biggest LOL was the guy asking to be put on a payment plan. Degen.

And lucky for you the guy was not the sharpest knife in the drawer, because while the M8trix LHE sucks, they do have 3/6.

So I dropped by M8trix. They had one table of 3/6, three 1/2/3s, and one 2/3/5, interest lists for DS and 10/25. They looked like they were about to start a fourth 1/2/3 so I hung out for 45 min with no cell phone reception (I walked all over), which is annoying because they basically require you to get texts for the board lists.

They started a new 1/2/3. It was pretty much on par with every other 1/2-1/3-2/3 game in the SFBA. They called down, but did not start, the DS.

I got bored and went to Bay.

Bay had three 1/1/2s, one 2/3/5, and one 2/3/5 DS ... plus ten billion 3/6s, five billion 6/12s, two billion 8/16s, three 20/40s, two 40/80s, and an 80/160.

And cell phone reception.

I will be in San Jose for business 7/20-7/24 and might be able to fit in a session, most likely Thurs or possibly a very early morning (4am-8am?) session since my body will be on ET. Is that feasible? I know the casino is open but are there really low limit NL games at that time of day?

What is the wait like on a Thursday evening around 6 or 7 pm?

And does 1/1/2 just mean there are 3 blinds? What's the buy-in cap?
