You can blame the dealers for that. It started out as an almost standard 1/2 game, plus a dollar blind on the button. But the pots were small and the dealers were sometimes not tipped in pots under $10. There were a couple dealers that complained almost non-stop while dealing that game. After the structure was changed to create bigger pots, a dealer told me they had gotten the structure changed.

These two things don't usually go together.

The thing is, action begets action. You get involved in a big pot with 2 villains, and you hold an overpair on a wet board. A scare card hits that makes multiple draws, and the action in front of you convinces you to muck your Kings. At showdown, both villains have top pair with crappy kickers.

If you see this enough times, you tend to start overvaluing your hands too. If you've been folding winner after winner after winner, you see why so many of these guys push weak hands so far. It's not too hard to beat a game with 2 or 3 bad payers. It's not as easy as you think to beat a game with 6 or 7 bad players.

why doesn't management just change the structure to 1/2/3 $300 buyin like the other casinos? ($3 bring in)

that way you'll still have decent sized pots

when the new garden city casino opens across the street from them next year, i hope bay 101 loses all of its player pool to them

I played 1/2/2 at Bay last night for the first time in a long while. The action was awesome - seemed interesting that lots of people were talking about not being able to play online.

I wish I could've stayed at the 2/3/5 table I started at, but my roll couldn't support it.

Guess I'll see some of you back there in the coming weeks!

Probably because it sounds too close to 2/3/5, which they also have.

I'll believe there's going to be a new GC when I see it, and not until then.

Is this thread for Bay 101 only or San Jose in general? Because... I have some low-content material I just need to get out and it involves GC.

The internet kids at Garden City, table 28, around 9:45pm last night, seat 7, 8, and 9. STFU about 2p2!! First two rules of 2p2: you do NOT talk about 2p2! You assumed the other side of the table is deaf or something? No, we don't think yall are awesome internet superstars. Your live tells are painfully obvious. Also, I don't want to hear about ftp, pstar, carbon, lock, rpm and.. how did titan and party slip into the conversation?

If yall think beating 25nl online is all it takes to beat 2/3/5, well then go over there and prove it. What are you still doing on table 28 grinding out the 1/2/3?

Seat 8: just because you c/r once with a set doesn't mean the 2nd time you do it on a dry board ppl will automatically put you on a set! why are you surprised a fish shoved over with just TPTK and another with a OESD? throw your garbage low pp away; you're not repping a set. you've outleveling yourself.

If you want to know, I was sitting in seat 5 and had the jesus seat. tight reg in seat 6, and interweb superstars in 7,8,9. All the marks were to my right. I was raising my CO range UTG because I know 6, 7, 8, and 9 had tight cold-calling and 3betting ranges.

FFS, 2p2 is not a huge secret. Almost every time I post a hand in a strat forum, regs in my game come up to me and ask me, "Who is 'LAGTAG who threebets thin a lot,' was it Mormon Max? Max A. Million? MVP?" When Rocky the Nit makes a straight with a suited connector, he turns to me and says, "You gonna write about that in Two By Two?"

Myself, I try real hard to play mum poker at the table, and I say almost nothing about 2p2; but pretending that it doesn't exist just doesnt fly. Regs know about it and talk about it; and (alas) learn too much about my game from reading my strat posts.

There's still no need to yap on and on about it. They were also discussing strategy, fold to 3bet %, and other stuff that scares away the bad players.

also alan, 1/2/3 nl's player pool is a lot different from 30/60 fl's.

Still booked a win though

Im curious too. New to the Bay Area from the east cost. I hate this structure of 1-1-2 wth $4 call. Personally, it feels like the casinos do it so they collect more money personally. They take $2 before the flop comes down so stealing is close to not worth it except on the button.

Ive been trying to figure out how to play in this structure which basically plays like 1/2 with half the stack players would normally have (because $4 limp). Then many players buy in for <$100. Very annoying.

I'm used to 1/2 where people buy in for $200 and its $2 to come into the pot. Which allows for greater odds and more play.

It's a Northern California thing, and it has been a Northern California thing since dinosaurs walked the earth.

It's the old traveling blind structure for games like NL draw and NL lowball. The opening bet must be at least the sum of all posted blinds, e.g. 1-1-2, 4 to go, or 1-2-3, 6 to go.

If you don't like it, well, too bad. Play somewhere else.

except that $4 to go isn't the sum of the blinds (at least at 101). The game is 1-2-2, not 1-1-2.

Also, GC only has a $3 bring in their 1-3 game.

Lucky's is the only place I know with 1-2-2 structure and a $4 limp.

bunch of comments posted on the old "east code" room threads as well. seems like the attack of the internet regs is upon B & M land

For the clubs, it is all about the drop/hour. They think the $4 bring in will create fewer walks ($1 drop).
