OK, the voice of reason

Out the front door to the right is Staybridge, a real good 4 iron!

Extended stay is on Brokaw and would take me driver, 3 wood, wedge

What the hell is the difference, I would just miss the putt anyway

Now I have to go walk it. I figured the Staybridge was a wedge.

I would propose a prop bet for next year, but someone would probably get annoyed if we started zinging golf balls over and down the roads.

Im Canadian - beers are more than $6 at the casinos in my town. $6 does seem like an awful lot for the states though. Are there any comps - food and such? Theres actually not that much info about Bay 101 other than Shooting Stars info.

I figure I would probably cab it - according to google my hotel (Sierra Suites) is a 10 minute drive. Might just head directly from the Cisco building that Ill be at - which I think is closer hehe.

Might just stick to 1-2-2, dont have too bring too much cash with me then and can just relax.

No comps. Against San Jose ordinance.

No comps. The food prices are relatively low, but that's the best you'll get from Bay 101.

Ehh, it's not very close to any of the Cisco buildings. You can walk it, as you can from Sierra Suites in the Landmark Plaza, but you won't enjoy it one bit. You might examine the light rail schedule. I know light rail passes near many of the Cisco buildings, and there are light rail tracks along 1st Street, so it's possible you can do that. It's about a par 3 plus a par 5 away from the stop near 1st and Brokaw.

To set the record straight, a Sierra Nevada (good northern California pale ale) is like $4.65 post-tax, pre-tip. So $6 including tip.

And you could reasonably avoid the tip if you buy it at the snack bar instead of ordering it from a waitress.

Light rail goes down 1st indeed, every 15 minutes during commute times and 30 minutes otherwise. Stop is Karina, about 5-10 minute walk from there. Note that LR does stop running around midnight, been caught by that before

I can expense cabs so I might just do that, good to know I could take a train from the Cisco building and such. Im sure a cab ride would be super cheap plus then I could have a few beers. Ive had that Sierra beer before and its pretty good.. Up here its $5.50 for a coors light post-tax pre-tip, and thats actually not a super bad price hehe.

I appreciate all the info!

Oh yeah, a cab will be much faster. If you take the light rail you would probably have to make a weird circle, maybe transfer, etc.

Okay, I paced it off. I hardly ever look over in that direction, only seeing a building out of the corner of my eye that I assumed was Staybridge, but it's the gym. It's about 230 yards, which is indeed a 4 iron with modern clubs.

While I was there I decided to see if the 1/1/2 was the same as when I last played in it. I was actually up about 150 until I decided to miss a bunch of flops with premium starting hands and donk most of it back.

Haven't been to 101 since they started spreading the NL games. Remember reading several posts right after the ordinance passed indicating they were working out the kinks with the buy-in amounts, blind structure/bring-in, etc. Is their 1/1/2 game similar in structure to the same game at Lucky Chances ($4 "call", etc). Guessing $1 less rake since no BBJ?

Almost. Now it's $1/2/2 with a $4 open. Drop is as you stated. I have heard rumors that they're thinking about changing it to $1/2/3, with $3 open, but as of a couple of weekends ago it was still $1/2/2.

Hi I turned 21 last month and I've been thinking about going to Bay 101 since I can't play on Stars anymore. I live about 10 minutes away, but have never heard of any friends or family going . Anyways I heard they don't have the standard 1/2 and 2/5 NL games and have something like 1/2/2 and I would need $400 to have a 100bb stack? I would normally be rolled for this, but most of it is stuck on stars and I only have a total of 2k in cash and my bank account for now. Are the games soft enough for me to profit and not take on too much risk with my limited bankroll? I usually play 115 and 225 HUSNGs, so my FR skills may be kind of rusty. Any input would be great thanks!

for those that care about the low level NLHE games @ Bay101..

just came back from there for my first time, was not expecting much on a tuesday afternoon around 1 PM ish, but there were already 3 tables each of 1-2-2 and 2-3-5 nlhe going.

waiting list for 2-3-5 was pretty deep (10ish) and 1-2-2 was only 2. I hopped in the 1-2-2- after only about 10 minutes waiting. it's a 1-2-2- blind (button-small-big), with a $4 minimum open, $1 drop before the flop and $4 more after, minimum buyin $40 and max buyin $200.

like I said, even on a weekday midday, game was surprisingly good. I sat at the same table all 6 hours there, half the table were the same all session and others came and went. only about 1-2 others were really solid players, but we did not really concern or get in each others way b/c of the plentiful bad players waiting to stack off. yes you will see people buyin short, or even the bad players get tight and smart for an hour (or two), but with patience eventually they end up givin away everything.

otherwise, the room i think is the nicest in the bay, and i've been to every one from lc to oaks, Artichoke, etc.. their sandwhich deli made a delicious custom sandwhich, with pickles, jalapeno and fruit cup for only $6.20

I hadn't been to Bay 101 in about a year(switched exclusively to online because I really felt bad about leaving my fiance at home and I already feel bad enough about the hours I spend online) but after 5 days without poker I was starting to get antsy.

I arrived around 6pm. Got instantly seated(did not expect that) in a 2/3/5 nl game. Amazing action, and I'm not even talking about the loose, crazy aggressive over-shover's with draws kind of action, just people calling down for huge pots with very weak hands. You would be crazy to bluff in that game. I saw a couple of mindbogglingly call downs, my favorite being an ace high call down in a $1,600 pot which included a $400 river bet on the wettest board I have ever seen. Just play tight, they'll notice but they won't be able to help themselves, and play pretty much straight forward post flop. The bet sizing is atrocious. Also donk betting was extremely prevalent. Also there was a lot of money on the table. Solid poker should show you a nice steady profit. A good lag could probably crush this game (noticed tons of spots but I prefer a more conservative strategy for this type of game)
I might of just been at great table but if the game an average game is even close to this it is one of the situations where it feels like you can't lose unless you are unlucky or coolered.
Seriously, run don't walk over to Bay if you're near.

Both rooms, Garden City and Bay , have these types of games.

The play is amazingly bad, and many tables have people spewing chips relentlessly. Both rooms have the same player pool. Can't go wrong with either. Played at Garden City last night, all I can say is wow.

Just play solid poker, deal with the bad beats...you will get some in these types of games, and you'll be fine.

I was at your table I think. You were either seat 8 or seat 6. I was seat 5 but left around 730. Yesterday's table was unusually good. It was often like that when NL started at Bay in october but the games have been slowly drying up as the truly terrible players go broke and never come back. yesterday's table was special.

isn't that $4 mandatory raise in the 1/2/2 game ******ed?

i remember playing less than 1 orbit and leaving. it seems so stupid to sit with effective 50bb stacks. from what i understand, there's a lot of ******ds who buy in for $100 giving them effective stacks of 25bbs.
