True dat. The poker room was also run very well.

Think WWW will have any weekend room promos to help get the NYC people down there?

Well, even if that happened, that still wouldn't amount to much. The Borgata is what they should be keeping their eye on. "How can we take players from Borgata and get them to play here?" What are they offering? I mean, a new room isn't gonna cut it. It's not enough. Revel had a beautiful room, but no one went. They didn't offer anyone enough perks to get them to leave their existing 'happy place.' And let's face it, the Borgata, which is by far, the most successful poker room in AC(actually, it's the only successful room in AC) is a fairly new room and it's gorgeous. The parking is either free or $5. How much would it be for someone like myself to park who doesn't have a players card from one of the Harrah's property? Are they matching other poker rooms tier cards?

What's the incentive? Again, being new is not enough. You HAVE to offer the poker player something that directly saves him money. Promos and stuff don't save you money, they're just promos.

As far as location goes, depends where you're traveling from; much easier and quicker for me to take the tunnel to the Borgata.

For those making Revel comparisons, I don't think you are taking into account how terrible the location of the poker room was inside of the casino, which is not an issue here. Location is great in this situation.

The location is excellent, if husband' s spend some money. On their wives in rhe outlets , they are sure to let rhem sit for an hour in the poker room. This single line item provides for great equity for players once the weather improves, the poker room food menu is reasonable. The rake back promo is good for locaks and. The shared bbjp is good too. The management is competent. And they recently brought in some high quality. Dealers, watch out for the Borg dealers that will ask you to post in the no limit game, they don't have the present ability to complete with the taj or borgata as far as room offers or offer the mid-limit players the same perks borg has, but the room remains popular for low limit locals chasing promotions and this is not a bad thing, the no limit games are great so the sucess of the room is assured even if You have to sleep under the boardwalk with the cats. It is true that borh revel and www are in a bat cave. The difference is that www is in an accessible. Bat cave with foot traffic rivaling 5th avenue

Lol did you even read my post???

I never said that Revel was in a bad location. I said, that Revel never offered the poker players any incentives or perks that would make any of us wanna leave Borgata to come play there(cause let's face it, almost all of AC's business plays at Borgata). And that's why the room failed.

It's $20 on the weekends to park at Wild West. What is the poker room doing about that? Are they matching tier cards? Do they care?

@ dipce: Revel had a great poker room food menu, too. How'd they do? ALL of the Harrah's properties have a shared BBJ and all their rooms combined don't hold a candle to Borgata.

"The management is competent." Big whoop. I can't remember playing in a poker room where the management made it a deterrent from me wanting to play there. All rooms are pretty much the same, some Floor will be great while others not so great and they'll be a big lump who fall right in the middle of the pack.

You HAVE to offer FREE rooms. You HAVE to make parking free. Those things matter! Way more than 'hey, they have a nice set of shops just down the street for the wives to go to while the hubby is playing poker." That's terrible advertising! Seriously, it is.

When a poker room does something for me, than I will do what I can to promote it. So far, I see no reason to leave Borgata. And before you say, "good, who cares?" If you want this room to be a success, than trust me, you should care because my thoughts are shared by most, which is why Borgata is still WAY ahead of everyone else. I would love to see every table in this place full, and with all sorts of games and limits and not just your $1/2 NL games(that doesn't interest me).

I totally agree with the parking and the rooms!!

However, I totally disagree with the shopping line! Are you kidding that they have this kind of marketing in the room?? What about wives and women that play poker? Sounds like we're marketing to the guys?? And also sounds like a put down to the women that play poker...Dan, seriously? Is this what is being marketed? Its worse than terrible, its sad!!! Maybe it should read that "there are other options nearby for the non-players to enjoy a little free-time!!"

I am not a representative of the room or an employee of CET, I just know from experience once Memorial day weekend rolls around thousands are going to be walking into the poker room area from Pacific Avenue looking for sodas, a bathroom, and a slot machine, - the poker room has a great location to catch all the women and men who play poker. I know of no brick mortar room in the country that will catch this many tourists, it is a huge net...If they were smart and put one table outside near Pacific Ave. they would catch thousands more! Think Moss, Nick the Greek circa 1949...(... the public had gathered outside the casino each day to watch the game ...)

I'm getting tired of bouncing from thread to thread!

Thank you!

Is there seriously a 20-40 hose game going? That's awesome. Hope the room does well and will have to check it out when I'm in town.

according to Bravo there is, raises some interesting questions as the hold 'em part could be eligible for the bad beat if they are dropping a dollar, - - those guys may be getting complimentary rooms and complimentary food from the poker snack bar menu...if CET properties can maintain these players then they must be giving them perks competitive to Borgata and the Taj, - do they have a Scores at the WWW?

So you mean the play 10 hours on a weekend day (fri or sat) and get a free weekend comped room playing 1/2NL wasn't enough? Or earning $2 an hour?

Can anyone confirm the 20-40 and will it go every Saturday?
Bally's Wild Wild West Thread (Atlantic City, NJ) Quote

There was a 20-40 and no promotion box so we shouldn't let the scoundrels contribute to the bbj when it gets high or concede to them stealing the rake back funds. More to the point, with the rake back reduced and the free roll canceled and the omaha players successfully raiding the rake back without contributing to the promotional funds, can the promotion rake be reduced to one dollar to leave enough dough for cat food? Whether the game will be a regular game depends on the offers from the Borgata and the Taj for the game. I guess the days of the Borgata treating all the 20-40 players to meals at The Old Homestead are behind us...perhaps fried chicken wings are our collective future, - good thing the emergency room to the local hospital is only a few yards away to treat the heart attacks the fried food promises to bring us...

In terms of the parking cost, I know that CET properties were offering free parking for anyone who earned 25 or more tier credits in an hour. Which is less than 2 hours of poker.

Dan - is this promotion still going on?

Thanks.

Absolutely disagree. The location IS remote and awful, in my opinion.

Cars driving in from the ac expressway practically drive into the Poker room. All of the Caesar's buses are a few feet away. With the proper marketing on pacific avenue all the new york city based players will check out the room, a few feet from their bus͵ before they hop on a jitney to the marina

The room is a big success, congratulations to Dan and staff, there were too many tables to count last night. There is no bad, there is only good and great!
I enjoyed very much that there is lots of space between the tables unlike the Borgata where the floor is constantly banging on the back of your chair to move From one side of the room to the orher. also they use the beautiful kem cards and not the easily marked hard gemaco's
