I much prefer the staffing and location at the Wild Wild West.
I like that there is plenty of space, attentive cocktail waitresses, and
a competent manager on duty, usually not all at the same time,
but with the Taj closed, and competent dealers few and far between...
from a purely business sense, unfortunately, the Wild Wild West
(the forty or fifty yards between the boardwalk and the poker room)
is a huge money loser and a ghost town for ten months beginning
in September. Fortunately, there's not much business savvy
inside the AC casinos on the boardwallk, and the WWW poker room
may stay open defying all business logic, but that suits me, I much
prefer Bally's over Caesar's...

People are allowed to out themselves; it's only people other than yourself you can't discuss. The idea is you want to protect people's identities when they don't want them revealed or they're not a member of the forums. I will say it's weird that you asked another person to identify himself/herself without identifying yourself.

That last line isn't too obnoxious. Why is it weird? The gentleman I was asking didn't seem to think it was weird.

Iamcaveman, I was in the one seat. Wearing a maroon button down. Blue shorts. My fav baseball team is the Mets. Eye color brown. Blood type O.

I haven't played in AC in a few years, not with having a casino 20 minutes from me (Sands in Bethlehem) but am in the mood for a change of scenery so I was looking on Bravo to see what's going on in AC and obviously Borgata is the place to go, but I wanted to look for other options.

I'm thinking of heading down to Bally's Thursday to play 1/2 for the 4-ish hours to earn the free room comp then the 7pm tourney. I can't really find any solid information on the comp though, can I use it the same day it's earned or does it need to be redeemed on a repeat visit? How many runners are typical for the 7pm?

To show my age, I used to really enjoy playing at Bally's when it was on the second floor in a 'private' room, last time I was there it was on the casino floor and was loud as hell, most of the players couldn't even hear the dealer. They had some BS sound barrier glass around it but that didn't help. Is this still the case?

Its a bait and switch for the comped room.
Meaning they'll tell you it's based on availability,
But it's never available, your best rate
May be $62 on expedia or check yourAC
Room rates from Caesar's properties.
The action at the 1-2 games at Bally's
Is always good. The action at the Borgata
This week is phenomenal due to the tournament
There. You can find a decent room on
The black horse pike or the white horse
Pike for $50.

That "free" room ends up costing you like $27 in resort fees/taxes. Still better than full price, but jesus.

$25 in resorts fees is absolutely ridiculous! This is why I stopped staying at the CET properties in AC. If you do have a comped room, you will not pay taxes at all on the room but only the room fee. Borgata only charges a $5 fee and $5 to park. You can't beat that.

Not even $5 to park if you play semi regularly. Ive had free surface parking for years through the poker room.

If you play regularly at CET properties and get a Diamond card, you won't have to pay for parking or resort fees either. And one advantage of playing at CET over Borgata is you can earn comps in other cities, especially Vegas. Playing at Borgata only earns comps for Borgata.

So what?

What is the advantage of spending comps in Las Vegas over Atlantic City? Does Borgata not offer any outlets for using comp dollars?

Actually you can transfer your comps for a trip to vegas from Borgata. They give you vouchers for x amount to Wynn. If you don't use the entire amount of that comp you can transfer it back to Borgata.
Granted you can't travel the world as a Borgata player like A CET player may, but the reality is unless you're in the pits consistently at a AC CET property you won't be receiving offers of any value regardless. The general opinion of the poker community is that Borgata treats their poker players better than any place on the East Coast and one of the best nationally.
I had a Diamond at CET and was essentially **** on as a poker player. Borgata on the other hand has always treated me well and my volume has decreased from what it once was and I'm still treated better at Borgata. Just my opinion.

the ceasars expansiveness does not negate the fact that they're stating one price (free for a comp... or whatever they list for a normal price) and then charging you another amount. listing the extra as a "resort fee" that isn't going anywhere except in their pocket is shady and shows no respect for their customers. it shouldn't even be legal.

I don't mean spending comp dollars you have already accumulated. I mean you get offers for free rooms, free play, etc, that can be used in Vegas and other areas of the country. I go to the WSOP every year for two weeks, and almost all of my rooms and food are comped based on my play at other CET casinos.

And FWIW, I play mostly at Borgata when I am in Atlantic City. But I don't understand why the Borgata partisans are making their argument in the Ballys thread.

The best place for discussion of CET v. Borgata comps would be in the Atlantic City Regional Communities subforum thread. Please report posts on that issue going forward so I can delete or move them over. Thanks!

You actually only need to reach Platinum level to receive these perks.

You can still get free parking in AC with the Platinum card. I did it all this week. Not sure about the resort fees because I haven't stayed at a CET property recently.
