i have had the free room offer mentioned to me by staff at both ballys and harrahs a few times.

i have heard from at least 5 different people that they were told there were no rooms available... all in the middle of the week and early on in the day (early afternoon mostly).

i never tried because it seemed like a bait and switch

Exactly. Unless I receive a flier in the mail with a promo I usually want additional validation. This is especially true for Caesar's properties. Nothing like getting a "free room" with a lot of fees tacked on.

So no one can get a comped room even during off-peak times (mid-week/fall/winter)? That sucks. Do they at least honor the free buffet offer, and can it be used at any of the CET properties or just Bally's?

I'm a diamond member and I couldn't even pay for a room at ANY of the CET properties this coming weekend, and certain room types I couldn't get any day for 2 months as a PAYING customer, when I have been comped these same rooms before when I was just gold.

I know some places have closed, but, there is no way you are going to convince me that AC is sold out on a random weekend in October.

I think there is something beyond the usual issues going on with the rooms in AC for the CET properties, and that might be impacting the Ballys offer. Suffice it to say though, if they aren't able to honor the offer, they shouldn't have it.

I've asked for a comp room three times at Ballys, and once at Harrahs. Turned down all 4 times. I know of one person who did receive a comp room at Harrahs.

I am not a big player, but I was able to get 3 nights comped (Mon,Tues,Wed) next month at Bally's. I made the reservation about 3 months in advance, and I do have the Total Rewards Visa which I think helps (I think I am a platinum with the Visa card right now).

Last year I was able to get comped for a 4 day weekend at Showboat, but this year there were no weekend comps anywhere in AC (all 3 Caesar's properties), so I agree they are a bit tighter with SB closing.

I did notice that the comps in AC do come and go.....this week here, and next week gone.... but waiting a month before is too late in my experience.

Caesar properties have always been tight with comps in general because they say, that your comp points with TR can be used for hotel, food, etc.

I'm one-for-three with the rooms, but the one time it worked, oh my, I landed in Harrah's waterfront tower, corner suite. Can't quite figure out how it never works for anyone, or for me again, but the first try, I sleep in a room bigger than my house.

We're not talking about comps through Total Rewards, we're talking about the poker room promo. They claim you can get a free room with 4 hours of play but it's total BS

Understood.

Just stating that for planned out visits for tourists (like me) there is a another way that still is working sometimes. Obv. you guys who go more often are looking for a place to crash after long sessions before you drive 3-4 hrs home. Agreed that this sounds like a bait-and-switch scheme that they can always say "we're out of these rooms", and you have no recourse.

Has the midnight tournament been happening lately onfridays??? Last time I was there it didn't. Also how long do the $5k guaranteed normally last?

I have been able to get the free room promo about 10 times and only been declined like 3 or 4. Last time I was there like 2 weeks ago and got a suite at harrahs. I think Sunday and Thursday is the hardest so if you go and don't need a room one night and plan on the next week try booking n advance cause you have a better chance.

The guarantee is for the 7pm. There is no guarantee for the 11am.

Gotcha. That sucks. Wife wants to go out Saturday night so I won't be able to play that one.

New player, trying to decide if I should start playing at WWW or Borgata. One consideration would be if the comps from WWW would mean anything at CET properties in Vegas. Borgata comps obviously are restricted to that location.

I don't care about comps in AC as I live nearby. Thanks for any advice.

Yes, comps earned at any CET property can redeemed at any other CET property.

Pretty much the only reason I play CET properties in AC is for Vegas room offers.

A few words/psuedo "trip report"..... A few things about me. For the past 3 years, I have traveled to from North Carolina to AC in November to play for 4 days. I am from NJ, and it is also a way to spend time with my two brothers and father (78yrs old). I am a low roller, but I had about $300 in comps saved up, and I intended to spend them all eating/drinking... I arrived this past Sunday.

1. The 3pm tourney ($4 + $5) is a great "bang for the buck" tournament. Even though it is a turbo with 15 min blinds, the levels are slow 100-100, 100-200, 200-400, 300-600, 400-800, 600-1200, 800-1600, 1000-2000. With a 20K stack, this is a decent structure, especially for $45. Also, it usually gets about 35+ runners.

2. The 11am tourney did not run any of the weekdays I was there (but it did run Sunday).

3. The 7pm tourney and 11am tourney have a faster blind structure with 5,000 more chips. However, I actually think the 3pm has a better "Starting Stack to BB at 2 hour" ratio, which means the 3pm plays slightly deeper than the 11a or 7p. It also gets more players because of the $1K guarantee.

4. As for the cash games, I did not have a deep enough bank roll for 1-2 since the buy-ins are up to $500, and it seemed that most had $300 in front. I stuck to the 2-6 limit and 1-1 games. Typical games with tourists and old guys which is fine with me since really I am a 40-something rec player anyway. I know they I am not going to make any real money, but if I can play for several hours and lose $100 or win $100+, I am usually satisfied with my overall play.

5. I received a great tip from someone to book "Dennis Tower", as it is fairly close to poker room (although it is still a 5 minute walk). Rooms in Dennis Tower were clean, but small.

6. As for me personally, a few highlights and final thoughts from my 4 days.....
A. Was able to crush my brother's all-in during the Sunday 3pm tourney and eliminate him (AA versus AJ). I know he was short stack, but I still have bragging rights.
B. During the 7pm Sunday tourney, out of 19 runners, my two brothers and me made the final 5 players. I did not cash, but they got #1 and #3. No collusion. I'd rather take them out and brag about it.
C. 2-6 Limit games table dynamics were always fun. Perfect atmosphere.
D. Yes, I was able to collect $500 "high hand bonus" on flopped Quad Kings. The 2-6 limit game is full of bad beat chasers and high hand chasers.
E. I finally cashed in a 3pm tourney. If you make it to the final 3, count your chips and assess a chop. I thought I had more than I did, and I should have suggested a 3-way chop since we all had between 8 and 12 BB.
F. I "invested" the above high hand bonus to play Event #20 ($300 buy-in) at the Borgata. I came in 45th place (9 from the money). 326 entries. 10 hours of play for no money. No question the caliber of player was significantly better at Borgata versus Bally's daily donkaments.
G. The free buffet at Caesar's for 5 hours of play is nice, but from a "buffet standards" it is similar to a Golden Corral. Not bad (but not great either). Service was horrible.
H. The Poker Mgrs were all great, and very professional. I will say that I noticed at least 1-2 dealer mistakes every day I played there (awarding the pot to the wrong player mostly). Protect your hand until they give you the chips!!!!
I. Indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi at Bally's are nice, and for $5/day during the week, it was well worth it.
J. Guy Fieri's place is very good, but overpriced IMO. Go for lunch, and it is not so expensive. Best wings you'll ever eat (but 5 wings for $13).

I was at Bally's on Friday around noon hoping to play the 10/20 OE game, and not only was it not running, but there wasn't even a list for it. Does this game still run here?

How is the play here during the weekdays?

Last time I was here, there were a bunch of regs/nits that don't play any hands unless it's the nuts...sooo annoying. I see the same faces here over and over...doesn't matter if I take a 2 month break. It's the same people.

The room is no longer a fishtank.
