Re: Bally's Wild Wild West Hype Thread (Atlantic City, NJ)

Agree with cockpit completely. I think the only folks playing at CET are locals since you cannot get rooms.

I did walk past the WWW area. There is a bandstand where some thought the poker room would go. The WWW tables are opening. So the walk to that room in the front, or the back depending on your point of view will be past open table games. The redone Bally's slot/table floor looks nice. It is less crowded, and more classy.

I do not think I will be at the WWW casino much given the fact that there are no rooms at the inn, despite plenty of vacancies. They decided to stop competing with the Borgata so that is fine with me.

There are some people who will play for the promotions even though they are net paying more to play for them. Interesting that anyone would do that. I do like the freeroll promotion, but not enough to play there for 50 hours when I am staying at the Borgata.

I hope to have a solution to the room situation. I agree that we must provide rooms for a player to give us ongoing support. I intend to be competitive in every way. I am getting ready to release what I think is a very nice tournament schedule.

Even though we will be opening on the 27th a grand opening will be based around a Major tournament in the near future. We also will host the Televised WSOP Championship tournament Memorial Day Weekend. Please keep the advise coming it is my best source of information.

Re: Bally's Wild Wild West Hype Thread (Atlantic City, NJ)

Hi Dan,

To compete with Borgata, I would at least have a signature tournament, once a month, that has decent chips and at least 30 minute levels. This can be on a Sat/Sun. You can add the GTD if it runs successfully.

For other days, I would have at least one tournament, 2PM or 7PM that has 25-30 minute levels with a decent starting stack.

Also, to attract non Hold-em players have a different variation tournament once a month.

Just curious, how does this happen? Does the game predominantly contain a bunch of regulars, and if so, why the choice to move to WWW?

Dan,
Will there be anything geared to bringing in high limit action? Ie separate high limit section, safety deposit boxes, poker host. And other perks for all players like wifi and separate food options for the players.

as nice as it'd be to have another poker option in AC besides borg, with regards to high stakes, i would happily lay odds against a 2/5 nlhe or higher game running more than once the first month that WWW is open.

With holding the wsop brand this has the opportunity to compete with borgata. I have faith dan will look at the players best interests and make this the next big thing in poker.

I know from your posts in the Taj thread that you are interested in Stud. It would take a lot of space to explain the dynamics of the Stud, Omaha, OE and mixed limit games in AC but the short answer to your question is this: all of those games are largely comprised of regs who, formally or informally, work together to get and keep games running. You can almost set your watch by which games will be running where and when.

As for why the 10/20 OE players are moving the game I'll just say that they are savvy and do a good job of working together to ensure they don't get taken for granted by the casinos and poker rooms.

What's LOL about it? Sure the game has moved around, but what's wrong with players voting with their feet and moving to what promises to be a better situation? They certainly won't be the only players to do it.

Absolutely. I have a 17 table high limit area with a 24 hour cage. This area has plenty of space so the players are not back to back. I don't want to lay it all out there but I am sure my high limit players will leave knowing they played in a class establishment that values their action. I have been around this city for 30 years. I know many of these players and am in touch with them constantly to see what it is they want.

No need to lay odds but a friendly dinner wager and you are on. 2-5 nlh players and above will be treated as high limit players in ways that no other casino does. I think the 2-5 players will find a new home with us. I have the friendliest staff in the city and will treat them better than any other. Once they come they will not want to leave. We listen to our guests here and make them feel like part of the room.

My first live poker game was in Wild Wild West. Took first in a sit and go and was hooked. Can't wait for the room to open. If ACDan's 2/5 setup is what he is saying than I will be putting in a lot of hours there. Looking forward to see the room.

Dan, as always, its great to see you so on top of things. I for one, am looking forward to an alternative to Borgata for high limit action. Can't wait to see the new room and be a part of it.

One thing remains elusive, however, getting low cost/comp rooms for poker players with CET in general. Over the years, they have continued to cut back on poker player comps and offers. In order to compete with Borgata, "we" will have to have some means of dealing with the room situation. Hopefully, this is being addressed and will be solved in time.

Coming from out of town with more and more options opening, being able to stay in AC has continued to bring more and more challenges. The room situation will be a make or break topic for myself and many others who continue to fight the system to play here.

Good luck with the new room, I'll certainly have to come check it out. Also +1 to spreading stud/razz/mixed games. For tournaments, maybe you could use the WSOP model of starting a NLHE event early in the day then a small mixed game or stud event later in the day so that players who bust out of the NLHE event might stick around and play in the smaller events.

Re: Bally's Wild Wild West Hype Thread (Atlantic City, NJ)

players who play games like omaha and stud should not be eligible for the bbjp funds if they don't contribute to the bbjp. It would add insult to injury to see a mid-limit omaha game take precious bad beat dollars in the form of being invited to the free-roll or to be eligible for rake-back if they do not contribute the the promotional funds. I think the focus of the room should be the 2-4-6 LHE, 1-1 and 1-2 NL players and their satisfaction. A focus on prima donna 10-20 omaha players and others looking to get a piece of the bbjp funds without making a contribution to the bbjp funds is simply going to alienate the faithful (nothing stops the WWW from raking $5/hr to the promotional funds, - to simply allow the theft of the bbjp funds by those who do not contribute does not seem acceptable, ('sentence first—verdict afterwards') though as it is the Wild Wild West here since the casino control commission folks were laid off and the casinos write the rules and advise the DGE as to the meaning of those rules, - I do not believe painting white roses red will solve the practical problems...There is a way to program the software to add the number of hours a player plays in bbjp eligible games. But I have not been especially inspired by the recent work of the ITT folks given the number of tables with unfixed broken bravo lights and the software fiasco at the last rake-back.

I hope you're not implying that my post had anything to do with your precious bbjp, because it didn't, but since you poked the bear I'll weigh in with my opinion on the matter. What the hell makes you think a 2-4 LHE grinder is in some way superior to a 10/20 OE player, either in skill or their god given right to participate in what amounts to a random sweepstakes? If we sit in, do we not pay rake? (or time charges at least) You can keep your bingo money if that's the whole reason you go to play poker. Some people truly enjoy the games and don't want to play HE 24/7. IMO for a room to rival Borgata as a poker destination (rather than just something to do other than play craps), it will need to either be a way better deal for HE or give the players something they can't get elsewhere.

Re: Bally's Wild Wild West Hype Thread (Atlantic City, NJ)

both the 2-4-6 LHE and the 10/20 OE player pay rake (or time). The rake-back and free-roll money come out of a special two dollar special promotional fund taken out aside from the rake. Both the Taj and Harrah's allow or have allowed the players who do not contribute to the promotional funds to have access to those funds. The 10/20 OE players have basically been stealing the bbjp money from the Taj HE players all year because they do not contribute to the bbjp fund but have benefited the most by the distribution of those funds on most Fridays of the month. The 2-4-6 LHE and the no-limit Hold 'em players are aware of this theft of promotional funds question, even if you are not, and should start immediately placing the WWW feet to the fire to ensure the promotional funds are not stolen by a group not contributing to the funds. that way better deal you are talking about should not include a theft of the promotional funds the 10/20 OE do not contribute to...

so..... the solution to the problem is to demonize the non-HE players and call them thieves? are they driving up to the poker room in motorcycles and grabbing chips from the HE players before dashing out the door? Are they sneaking in counterfeit chips and betting with them, then cashing out legitimate chips? I have no problem if you ask the casino not to give extra incentives to some players by giving them free raffle tickets while others had to pay for theirs, but it doesn't have to become some bull**** hatfields vs. mccoys feud among the players.

Have a nice tournament series with $300 buy ins and higher, include some non nlhe games and some guarantees and the players will definitely come play.

Re: Bally's Wild Wild West Hype Thread (Atlantic City, NJ)

the solution to the problem is very simple. They pay $1 a hand for every hand with a $20 pot or $5/hour/per player to be eligible for the rake-back and free-roll. If the do not pay into the promotional funds they should not be getting a penny out of them. Remember, the 2-4-6 players are being charged $4 in rake plus $2 in promotional funds every hand! (depending on the size of the pot) That's like a 15% rake and it doesn't make sense to charge them such a high price to play poker and then give the money they put in to players who make no contribution to the promotional funds. By the way, we are not talking here about a feud among players. The Taj lost a considerable portion of its LHE and NLHE business when the players became wise to the fact the Taj was giving away much of the bbjp funds to stud and omaha players who were not contributing a dime to the bbjp funds...
