In regards to the comped rooms, when are the "fees" waived? CET always says "comped rooms" and it then costs like $25....

I liked the tourney overall but I can't see this continuing past this weekend if they don't come close to meeting the guarantee.
What table were you on?

Almost definitely not. Every casino in AC charges you taxes $5-$13. Some let you pay with comps, I think Ballys does not.

Table 12 most of the tourney, then moved to table 4 when it got down to 3 tables and stayed there for the remainder.

I was playing in the cash games tonight and managed to check out the tournament board during a break. For the evening 25k, first place was roughly $5400.

Nope. They have taxes -- such as the $5 AC convention center tax -- and then add "just fees" -- such as cleaning fees -- but "do not charge for the room."

This adds up. Happened to me when I had a comped room at Showboat (CET property).

well, other than CET properties, the only other casinos with poker rooms are Borgata, GN, & Trop

i would not really blame CET for this, i.e., this is the state/local government

also, less than $20.00 for a room is nothing to complain about IMO

it will likely continue past this weekend but they have some major problems here IMO

(1) this is the soft opening; hard to think that anyone involved with this room is happy right now; hopefully, more players will show up today

(2) i do not think it was wise to open a poker room in the winter in A.C.; i think that May would have been better; i know that is the soft opening but no one other than locals and old people are really down in A.C. during the week in the winter time

(3) they are pissing off the grinders because of the necessity to raid the BBJ to cover these guarantees; however, they have to offer the guarantee to get new players or entice former players to come check out the room

(4) there is just too much competition for this place, i.e., they are never going to compete with the Borgata or Parx and they even compete with themselves with Harrah's Chester

(5) online poker is a lot easier for New Jersey poker players now & players like me just stay home & play online now; the only reason that i am playing live later today in this room is because of the guarantee; i would never come down without the guarantee

i think this will last a few more weekends but unless about 125+ players start showing up pretty soon, i agree that the $25,000 guaranteed tourney might be dead

Caesars properties charge you $13 in taxes and fees per night. Golden nugget is $10, Revel is $12, Borgata I believe is only $5. Trump is at $15.

if it's a room rate of $20, sure it's nothing to complain about. but if you stay for two nights comped and you are out $40, that's not a comp to me.

IMHO when property says comped they should mean 100% free, not free with stuff added. That's not free.

Here's an example of an email I received from CET marketing:

----------
Email title:
Virtually Free is Back!

Email body:
Starting at Just $69!

When we say "Virtually Free," we mean it! Add up the perks in our exclusive Atlantic City room packages, and you're already in the black!

Featuring Cocktails & Dining Credits, Free Slot Play, Free Parking and much more!
----------

Seriously? What a sham. It's either free (comped) or it's not. Don't be fooled people.... It's too bad people justify it with "still better than nothing".

I agree with this 100%. Being charged adds up and it's not a "comp".

That's not a comp. That means they charge you for the room, and give you a dining credit or something in exchange.

For an actually comp room, some of the $13 I imagine is mandatory taxes. But if all of it was really mandtory, why does Borgata charge only $5?

This doesnt make much sense.

11am 25K had 79 runners and it was over 10K for first.

I head the 7pm had 73 runners... but youre saying first was only $5400.

Im confused.

Sounds like what was on "the tournament board" as poster stated did not account for the additional funds added to match the guarantee and the final payouts were certainly similar to the other one posted.
Bally's Wild Wild West Thread (Atlantic City, NJ) Quote

Exactly. The real prize money does not post on the tournament clock. That payout is based simply on the number of players. If they fall short of the guarantee, they calculate the payouts at the desk but for some reason, can't or won't post them to the tournament board.

Of course. The $5 is the AC convention center tax. Anything above the $5 is added on by the casino. Also, casino will pick up the $5 for the right person.

Did they take money from the promotions after counting the re-entries? Yesterday folks claimed here about ten rhousand was taken ftom the bbjp funds to pay for the guarantee. Can rhis be right? 10K?

The board was wrong. There was a printed
payout sheet. There is also a sign next to the sign up window that states 4% will be withheld for staff. You may then buy, at your own choosing, the add on for $5. For those who are saying they are secretly taking out more, you are wrong. The add on is voluntary and goes directly to dealers only.

I played the 11am and went out around 17th (couple knocked out at same time) and the only two complaints I had were no dinner break and the payout structure should have been a little deeper. A deal was worked out when we got down to 18, good job to the guy that orchestrated that, but I think with that amount of money in the future they should pay out to the deal we worked out. That payout structure I think would draw in more players alone. Overall I think it was well done. Structure was good and allowed for play even when we were deep.

I can't believe my eyes! WWW has a 10/20 Omaha 8B/Stud 8B game running! These 2 games played in rotation are a blast and I want to be there in the worst way. Hopefully it catches on.
