With the closing of Caesars poker room on December 26, 2013, much is being said about the new room slated to open around this President's day. The new room will be located in the Wild Wild West, located between Caesars and Bally's Casinos. The room will combine both existing rooms into one and is being proposed as a way to compete with Borgata on the "Boardwalk" side.

Please feel free to post any information you may receive as the opening nears.

If the room is going to open in 2 weeks why are they not promoting it at all on their website or anywhere else? Only information we have is word of mouth from dealers. Seems like a bad start already.

I was at Ballys on Wednesday night. This is the info I got from a dealer so I can't tell you exactly how credible it is.

The opening for the room is slated for next weekend. The room is actually going to be where the old video poker parlor was (up near the exit to the street). I know there were rumors that the room was going to be where they had the old tables near the horses. The dealer also told me that showboat will be closing their poker room (again not sure how credible that info is either. I PM'ED Dan about 2 weeks ago and he still hasn't responded to me.

I can say that ballys does have signs in the casino for a bunch of promotions they are doing for the 16th. But nothing about the poker room.

I took a look today in the WWW. The last time I was in here a few months ago there were walls up blocking the old table games area. The walls are gone now but the old table games are still there. The area right in front of the bar and food stand is blocked off with black curtains and they are putting a wood floor down. I see no signs of any poker tables unless they are all the way in the back where I couldn't get to because it's blocked off.

Showboat closing their poker room? I sincerely hope this is incorrect. I still occasionally make the trip up from DC just to play in their tournaments.

it makes sense to shut down the Showboat room if you want to consolidate all of the games into one "super" room on the Boardwalk

I just walked by the area again and sometime between my post yesterday and now they have ripped the old felt off all the table games to redo them. Talked to security guard and he said the whole area is supposed to reopen next weekend. He didn't have any info about poker though.

Hey Guys,

I am Sorry for being MIA I had a medical issue pop up quickly but I have returned. I will try and answer your questions as I get to them i am quite backed up. The opening of the new 60 table room at Wild West will be the weekend of the 28th a soft opening on the 27th. The construction is well under way and you will start to see more and more advertising for it. If you park at Caesars and come across the people mover there will be an escalator that will drop you right into the poker room. Walking in off the street will be right where the mountains are on Pacific Ave. That is actually the Smoking area for the room. Feel free to shot any questions you may have and I will try and fill you in on what I can.

Bally's room will be moving and Showboat and Harrah's will be staying open.
Caesars already closed.

Good Luck with the new room in WWW Dan.

Are we looking forward to better tournaments (or at least similar to ShowBoat) at the new location?

Dan, How about an areas called "The Stud Corral" with some 7 Card Hi/Lo & Razz? "Omaha Rodeo" for some 5 card Omaha & Hi/Lo. "Hold'em Ranch" with some Pineapple?

Thanks to the snow at home I was in AC (Borgata and Taj) for poker from Sunday to Friday. From the conversations at my tables I didn't see much interest in the new WWW room. A low percentage of players knew anything about the new room opening and of those that did there was a lot of resentment towards CET for the way it abandoned poker players over the past couple of years.

Something has to happen to get more types of games spread. Hold 'em is dying a slow death.

Was the resentment due to CET taking away various promotions? Someone posted in one of these threads a while back that they lost some money (~$200K?) on those.

I'd like to see one strong poker room on the Boardwalk to complement Borgata, similar to when Taj was running strong years ago. I had hoped Revel would become that room, maybe WWW will succeed instead.

I still don't understand why they have not tried to promote it anywhere or even mention it. There is less than 2 weeks before it opens, Are they just expecting people to have heard about it by word of mouth and show up?

No. It is due to CET changing tier points and requirements/benefits of Diamond cards and the big cutbacks on comped rooms for poker players starting about two years ago. A general feeling that CET promoted poker for a few years, got players to switch from other venues, then pulled the rug out from under them.

There's a feeling out there that CET will do it again - pull players into WWW with offers for a few months and then drop them when summer comes. A lot of these former CET players moved their business to Borgata and are now earning comped rooms and/or a blackcard there. They don't want to lose what Borg is giving them by moving their business to WWW and then finding themselves with nothing from CET after a while.

For myself, I'm interested in giving WWW a chance to be my third option in AC. I was surprised to hear no interest in WWW from any NLHE players I spoke to.
