I got discounted rooms at Bally's in Vegas based on my AC play. Either that or they just discount anyone because that was the only time I went to Vegas.

The first time you go to Vegas, they have to base it on your home casino town, because they have no other info. After that, it's all based on your play in Vegas. I'm only going by what a host told me, and I'm by no means an expert, so take what I'm saying for what it's worth

Ballys 1/1 game is now 50 min 150 max. The sign also says more changes coming soon.

Hopefully they will be announcing that they are getting rid of their 1/1 game.

They already have 2/5 $1000 max at Bally's. But it doesn't always run.
10-26-2011 , 09:46 AM
the funny thing about the 1000/max in 2/5 is when I played trop with 1000 max, most of the people who played only bought in from 300 to 500!! what's the sense....
when it was 500, everyone bought in for 500 but right after they raised it, more people bought in for less. I guess people think they can wait for a monster and shove with a small stack or something.
10-26-2011 , 10:19 AM
Yeah that's true. It's like that at Taj too but not quite as bad. But people don't buy in for the full amount.

i know they have it at $1k max MAKE it $500 and the game will run more often. Make the 5/5 game 1k

My wife and I will be in AC for in late December. I would like to play at least one daily, weekday tournament at Bally's - does anyone have any information on these?

One of the dealers who usually knows what is going on, i.e. isn't full of it, said they are waiting for final OKs from higher ups to increase the tier points for the 1-3 game to 40 and comps to $1.50 per hour. That may or may not be all the changes to come.

I hope that the 1/1 game continues. It draws in a lot of players, and poker needs all of the players it can get. Plus, it's often a good game, actually, with quite a bit of action.

Seen at Bally's: I came down to the poker room at around 9:30am on Friday (yesterday) and found 1 table going. Turned out that it was a 2/5 game! My girlfriend had come down earlier (I slept in a little later than she did) and shamed the 1/3 players into raising the stakes.

Good for her!

Was quite amusing to see a 2/5 game at Bally's being the only game in the room.

It was a great game too, with lots of action. Girlfriend and I both ended our sessions with nice wins.

The game switched over at 9:00 or so, from what everyone was saying.

Bally's is pretty much my number two room now. Had a lot of fun yesterday in the 1-1 game. Ran decent and it was a very friendly table with no one getting mad for no reason. Played for about 9 hours, I thought it was .50 cent comps but they gave me a buck each hour and I believe 20 tier an hour.

whats the competition like? Im assuming theres not really too many decent players because of the low stakes and im sure regs would prefer taj for low stakes. I have only played in home games and a poker club and consider myself a average player bc i have been playing for prob 8ish years on and off and read one 2p2 book.

ballys 1-1 seems like a good start to real casino poker

I play in this game fairly often. It brings in a mix of nitty regs, some solid players, and some really awful fish. It's funny to watch people pull out their wallet and buy in 5 or 6 times. Upping the buy-in will hopefully not chase the fish, but at least the game should move a little quicker.
I agree it's a great starter game, and usually friendly. I started as a tournament player, and this is where I'm really learning the cash game, while not spending a lot of money.

I played there a couple times. The 1-1 games are 80% terrible players. You'll see some ridiculous plays. For example, I once saw aces limp behind 5 others on the button. Checks to him on flop and he goes all in for $400 effective. Someone happened to flop top 2 and then he doesn't shut up for an hour about how he hates aces.

Honestly when I sat down I didn't play a hand for 30 mins in order to get a feel of the table. After the 30 mins I realized I should have been mixing it up lol. Except for the guy sitting next to me on the right there wasn't a single good player but it was a very fun table. People kept coming by and I was telling them to sit down. Friendly atmosphere, lots of joking. Plays small, but if you're willing to man up and puts some chips out there people will join you.
$11-13 raises pre flop will still be called but the average raise is $6-8.
Buy in for $150 and enjoy the money

I'm heading back to bally's on monday night staying over. Wish there was a bigger presence on 2+2.

Sorry to say but a two year old will be bored out of her mind at Bally's. It's a pretty sterile place. I can't think of anything there that would hold her interest.

There are a few arcades and a few family "attractions" on the boardwalk that she MIGHT enjoy - Ripley's for example.

If I had to take a two year old to AC I'd probably opt to stay at either Showboat or Tropicana on the boardwalk or Harrah's on the marina. They don't have much for a 2 year old to do, but they have stuff that's at least interesting for a 2 year old to look at. And they have restaurants you and she will be comfortable in.

Agree - Harrah's may be your best bet. They have an indoor family pool (diff than "The Pool") along with a video arcade.

Taking a 2 year old to any casino doesn't make sense to me, frankly. None of them are set up for tiny tots!

As for restaurants - I'll take the "Reserve" at Bally's (steakhouse) over just about anything else in the city. The food there is awesome - and "Prview", a bar/food area in front - sometimes has great 1/2 price specials on some of the same great food.

I usually play at Borgata or Harrah's but Sunday I decided to go to Bally's for the first time in ages. They had a sign up that you can get 7X reward credits on Sunday's in November and all you have to do is swipe your card at the promotion kiosk in the Total Rewards center to get it. I should have asked while I was there, but does anyone know if this applies to poker as well as slots and other table games? If it does, $7 per hour comps would be pretty sweet.

Hey all will be in the $1-1 game again today and tomorrow. pumped
