Welcome to the Bally's in Atlantic City thread!

This is where all the posts regarding poker at Bally's Casino in Atlantic City should go.

Some basic information:

Bally's has a poker room with 26 tables.

Daily Cash Games include:

1/1 NLHE ($2 minimum bet)
1/3 NLHE
2/4/6 LHE ($6 bet on the river)

Occasionally, a 2/5 NLHE game is played.

Currently, the 1/1 NLHE game and the 2/4 LHE game each pay 10 tier credits per hour plus 50 cents an hour in comps. Should it ever go again, the 1-5 spread limit stud game will also pay this.

The 1/3 NLHE game pays 20 tier credits per hour plus $1 an hour in comps.

The 2/5 NLHE game pays 40 tier credits per hour plus $2 an hour in comps. Any games spread that are higher in limits than these would get the same comps and tier credits per hour.

There is a poker rate available for room nights, but it is on a first come first served as available basis. Ask at the podium as to the availability on any given night.

The Poker Room Rates are:

Sunday through Thursday nights is $25 per night.
Friday night is $89

Keep in mind the $1 BJ charges a "rake" if your bet is $1-5. You cannot bet $5.01-$9.99. Bets $10 and up are "rake-free."

Question....if you have a room already for that night....will they give the poker rate ??

I tried this at Harrahs a few weeks ago...the answer was NO...they have to book the room for you...I think that's the policy (which is the opposite of how it works in LV)

These things are often subject to change. Best thing to do is ask the person in charge.

Is that for poker play too or just slot/table play?

That is for poker play as well.

Has anybody done the Beat the Heat thing? Can you start playing before 3pm or do you have to put your card in and start immediately after they announce the temp? Would be nice to recoup some free gas and toll money right away.

I just visited AC for the first time since I was about 8 yrs old for a week. After reading reviews of everything I was extremely surprised at how well the room was managed and the dealers were quite good overall.

I only played in the 1/1 NL and 1/3 NL games and found your standard set of poor play with some decent players mixed in. The only thing I can say is that the 1/1 NL was not really profitable until late night when people were much more willing to part with their $100 stacks.

All in all I played almost everywhere in AC and I found this room to be especially good if you're playing on a limited bankroll since the games at the Borgata play much bigger

A couple of corrections.

Wednesday 8PM to Thursday 8PM is now bonus comp days.
For every hour played between those hours you will receive a $1.00 per hour bonus.

New rating system(Bravo ) is not running in Bally yet... still a few weeks away.
The 1-3NL is still receiving $1.50 an hour.

The new rating system has not finalized a comp rate for the 1-3 yet but its a fairly good bet that it will be between the 1-1 and the 2-5.

Until Bravo is turned on at Bally the old tier and comp rate still are in effect.

I sort of have a dilemma this weekend. Staying at the Trop tomorrow night, but will probably be playing at Bally's all day and maybe some on Monday. However, I might be bringing the girlfriend down on Wed 29th. I understand that you can't book ahead for the poker rate at Bally's and normally I wouldn't care, but I kinda need to know I have a room that day.

On the other hand, the Trop will let me book ahead for the poker rate if I play for 4 hours. However, the Trop doesn't have a $1/1 game and I'll sacrifice the hours towards the $50K freeroll by not playing at Bally's.

I guess the question is, how difficult will it be to just show up, play about 7 hours on the last Wed in June and get a poker rate room? I really don't want to play at the Trop but they might force me to.

It'll run through the summer, Ballys had this for years on Saturday nights.

Thanks. I won't be there until tomorrow. Will ask for him anyway.

Are you affiliated with the room in any way? You seem to have a good idea about what's going on there.

An excellent question. ebases, if you are, you need to be verified before posting as a room rep. If you're not, you need to make that clear when you post.

In terms of June/July tournaments. Any heads-up tournaments planned?

Minor food options of note:

Last time I played a little Pai Gow (I think it was $10) I got like a half off coupon for the noodle village. Didn't end up using it but the reviews on Yelp seem to be decent.

Right next to the poker room/horse racing place there's a nice bar called Preview. Up until 6 PM Mon-Sat and pretty much all day Sunday they have half price appetizers and drinks. I usually end up there since I love their calamari. Has a nice sweet and sour kick to it.

Was there a few times over the past week. Lastly yesterday when I played (1/1) from 4:30 to 11:30. Asked for Rick and was told he wasn't there. Talked to someone else about the room and they told me the best they could do was book at the regular rate and then play for 5 hours and they'll knock it down to the poker rate ($25). Why do I see myself getting stuck with a full rate room somehow?

Also think they might have missed double comps the when I went on a Wed a few weeks ago. Played from 7:30-12:30 (5hr) and ended up with 468 RC. Yesterday, from 4:30-11:30 (7hr) and earned 1100ish RC.

any chance of 2/5 running wed or thursday night 7/6-/7/7/2011
07-05-2011 , 12:44 PM
If you travel with a buddy and share a room, does both of your play count towards the five hour requirement for the poker rate?
