Don’t really know all the specifics of them. Maybe an occasional one off ‘chance to pay with big name’ stream might be ok. Still not certain. But generally, I don’t think it is good form for them to play in their room either.
Btw, props always play on their money. Shills play on house money. There are a couple of types of props in poker. There is the old classic prop. He gets a low hourly to play in games but he risks his own stack to play. He has no say in what games he plays in. Generally must be transparent he is a prop. This doesn’t truly apply to you even though you do risk your own money n
Another, more recent use of the term, is where someone who sets up a game, calls or txts folks to get them there at set time, builds a starting list, usually but not always paid by house to do this. Sometimes but not usually if house is paying them, play in the game. This is use of the term I applied to you.
You are being paid to set up and get these games going. You can directly or indirectly set the line up (find a fish you want to play, id the game he wants to see, get such going at a time he wants to play). You may not be doing anything even slightly questionable but you could and eventually some one will think you are. Ev3n if they never say anything to you, they might talk to others.
I understand what you are trying to do. I will even support and encourage you to do it. I would love to see more stratification. We used to have 1/3, 2/5, and some 5/10 NLHE. Now it is all deep stack 1/3. Personally this game is quite profitable for me but it is also rather boring. Since I don’t play to pay my rent/food, I find myself playing much less than I used to. Even though both my poker and life rolls can afford to buy in for $1000 vs $300 or $500, it doesn’t mean I always want to.
But also I am only sharing how some may see what you are doing personally, I would do the promos and game building (if you need to sit at first to get a new game going, meh. But after at most couple times, sit out. If game can’t make on own by then let it die).
When you want to play, go to another room and play. But again, only Jmho. I see this like floors taking tips. Nothing wrong may be going on but it certainly can look bad. Especially to someone who doesn’t have any historical perspective.
You are being compensated to set up and build out promos. Do you benefit from them? Note even if you can’t win a promo, you might still benefit from them
