Its possible. Like ten minutes. But its miserable right now. Jitney goes naturally that way.

They are not across any street from each other; you can either take a longer walk along the marina on a sidewalk or a shortcut through and empty (sometimes muddy) field.

Some of the buses that used to go to Showboat now go to Harrah's.

I have crossed the highway late at night when there was virtually no traffic. Still spooked me (friend talked me into it). I think there is some roundabout path one can walk without taking the chance of getting run over.

I walked from the Nugget to Harrah's a couple weeks ago. Crossed the highway but it was pretty dead so I didn't have any issues. The mud was more of an obstacle.

It's cold man. Pay the $2.25 on a jitney.

You don't need to cross a highway to go from GN to Harrah's.
There is a path that goes along the water.

Walking from GN to Harrah's without crossing the hughway is maybe a 45 minute walk though, IIRC.

If you are starting from bills in Harrah s,I remember it as more of a 25 min walk, but it's been a couple years. If you are near the pool/waterfront tower though you are adding another ten min.

Oops sorry, I was thinking 45 minutes from GN to Borgata along marina path. GN to Harrahs would be shorter.

Maybe I fast walk , but I remember walking a couple times from Borgata/gn because I wanted to walk a little on a nice day and it took me no more than 15. Then again I cut through all the roads. Not the back road way. No way I walk that now . it's frigid out.

If you cut across the highway and lawns from GN to B it only takes maybe 10 minutes door to door. Someone was asking about doing it the non-gambly way.

Not to belabor the issue but Google maps says the non highway GN->Harrah's is less than a mile. Should be a 15 minute walk.

Must be a rock on the tables. Yeah , cars pass very sporadically, pretty safe walk IMO.

Yeah but that is probably from one front entrance at the road to the other. I think everyone is talking about at least getting in the door.

So you don't want to take the jitney?

Hi Guys, I'm a European being in NYC now and my girlfriend, a friend and me are planning to go to AC in mid-January from Sun to Wed. Just a laid back recreational trip with getting my girl a good spa treat so that my buddy and me can hit the pit games and the occasional 1-2 NL Cash Game.
After reading this thread I get the impression that the AC Casinos are just worn out dumpsters and it isnt safe anyways....well, do you have short advice on which hotel/casino are the nicest for gambling/spa. We were planning on staying at the Boardwalk in Bally's or Ceasar's because their room rates are cut in half in January...or do we need to go to Harrah's/Borgata to have a somewhat nicer experience?

THanks!

This reminds me of when I lived in NYC and tourists would be scared to death of the Subway because of movies and new reports. You'll be fine wherever you go as long as you use common sense. The casinos are the safest places in the city.

My wife loves the Red Door Spa in Harrah's but no matter where you stay there are free shuttles between Caesar's properties and the Jitney is cheap. You can always take a cab if you want to feel even safer but it's really an unnecessary expense.

If you're playing $1/2, every casino can accommodate you and the games are more or less the same. You'll have better game selection at the Borgata but you can play at Harrah's or the Bally's WWW around the clock. A few rooms will be limited even for $1/2 if you're playing overnight into the early AM but if you're limiting your play to normal hours, there's bound to be $1/2 action at any property.

I suggest Borgata at this point for poker and amenities.

Harrahs has 4 hotel towers of various ages, and unless the older ones have been renovated recently, they vary widely in quality. The only thing I can remember is that the Waterfront tower was very nice, and one of the other towers was kind of crappy (though conveniently right next to the poker room). Check old posts in the Harrahs thread for discussion of tower quality.

I agree with NYCN. To paraphrase Mark Twain, reports of AC's demise have been greatly exaggerated. Although a few casinos have closed lately, there are still many great casinos left (and the Taj). If it were summer I'd recommend Bally's/Caesars so you'd get the full AC Boardwalk/beach experience. One of the reasons I liked Showboat before they closed is that their poker room was right on the boardwalk. I like the Harrah's room. It's smaller and less crowded than Borgata and has been noted you shouldn't have any trouble finding a 1/2 game in any of the rooms. If you want to try anything else though, the Borgata has the biggest variety. As for hotel rooms, there are many websites devoted to user reviews of hotels, restaurants, etc. Just do a little online research before booking. Good luck at the tables!

Waterfront Tower rooms at Harrah's still are the nicest the wife and I have stayed in. Try and get a room there high up, the views are nice.
