has anyone taken greyhound from nyc? i've been taking academy and i like that i can jump on any return bus. i went to get a greyhound ticket and it was asking me which bus i was going to return on. will i be held to that? or can i just use my ticket on any bus i want coming back to nyc? i ended up not risking it and just taking academy again.

thanks!

You can return on any bus leaving from the main station or any casino. I take the bus to and from DC, not NYC, but 99% sure the policies are the same. I think you are supposed to have to return within 4 days, but I have also used old return tickets and it has never been a problem.

The cash games @ Borgata certainly will be more plentiful during the series. Not sure if/how it will affect other places in AC.

Revel and Golden Nugget are hiring. GN now, Revel in April

I have a bunch of buy-one-get-one-free for several of the AC buffets left over. They're from the American Casino Guide and they expire on December 30th. If anyone can use one (or more) send me a PM with your address and I'll mail them out. Here's what I have:

(6) Bally's
(4) Caesars
(1) Showboat
(2) Tropicana
(3) Trump Taj

I'll update the thread as they get claimed. First come, first served.

I'll take one!! I'll be in Atlantic City this weekend so I doubt the mail would come right away. Do you live near there?

Sorry...I don't check here everyday, that's why I need a PM. I'm in upstate NY so I would have to mail them anyway.

Hi everybody,
I have a non-poker playing friend going to AC and looking for a fun singles bar for 30-somethings. He's not looking for a soulmate, just a good time for a couple of nights. I told him I'd post here for some advice.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

PM'd you. I'll be in town from December 18-22 and then heading to NYC for three days. Is it blistering cold atm? I plan on binge drinking, playing cards and utilizing Bally's indoor pool/hot tubs anyways so it won't ruin my day (I'm from MI) but it helps to know whether or not to pack heavy.

Hello AC, I'm currently a poker dealer who has aspirations to try to make it as a player as well. Initially I began dealing private games and have recently started working at a cardroom/horsetrack in Minnesota, moving from Texas to do so. I am really enjoying my experience so far but after reading about Revel opening up in the Spring I began to consider moving to AC to take a more serious shot at grinding the tables as well as dealing. In summary I thought I would come here to do some reading as well as try to get some thoughts from the AC 2+2er's about my possible endeavors. Thanks in advance for any thoughts you might have, they are greatly appreciated.

Have you applied at Revel yet? They began taking applications for poker dealers a few days ago.

Does Golden Nugget have any chance of becoming more of a home for Omaha, Stud, etc. games or is it probably going to end up like the rest of the rooms excluding borgata?

My bet would be that it becomes another 2/4limit 1/2 NL room, but I hope I'm wrong.

IMHO, the only way for any room in AC to start spreading stud/omaha is if the Taj closes their poker room and the regs are FORCED to play somewhere else. Good or bad, for any room to get these games started you need the ol' regs to get them established.
Once they get going in a nice, new room (as opposed to Taj), newer/younger players will try the games out. Just a hunch...

In Nov. & Dec. 2010, Borgata had stud tournaments & a double comps promotion for 1-5, 5/10, 10/20, & 20/40. It was a nice attempt to sway the regs away from Taj, but they stayed put.

Revel MIGHT have a chance, they're supposed to have 40 + tables.

I mean honestly the only place I've been going for the past year is the borgata but it would be nice to be able to go somewhere else to play different games once in a while

Yeah, I totally agree. Harrah's did a nice job with the pink chip OE game. Maybe Golden Nugget and Revel will have some good non-hold 'em options, especially below the 20/40 limit.

I'm thinking of heading down to AC during this Christmas weekend (maybe Harrah's) but don't want to get there & find it "empty". Can anyone offer advice? Will it be crowded? Shark infested? Or packed with depressed & lonely fish?

Thanks!

Can someone tell me about the Harrahs Free Shuttle Bus service?

Do you know where is the daily schedule? Like is it twice every hour? Do jitneys arrive faster than these free shuttles? I see it says it runs between 10am and 11pm but are there always a lot of people waiting in line for these? I assume if i'm checking out the morning of the day i'm leaving, i won't be eligible to use the free shuttle? Thus i could only use the free shuttle those 2 nights im staying? Someone mentioned don't ever ride it b/c it takes like 1 hour to get from Harrahs to Caesars and many times you can't even get on the bus b/c of too much people or they keep waiting for so long before it moves.

Also, is the jitney 2.25 or 2.50? Someone mentioned it was 2.50 but that has to be wrong right? I also read the website that you can buy these in bulk? Can someone explain this? How much is the minimum for this?

The shuttle runs on a schedule - but that schedule is a bit irregular. There are 2 shuttles, one runs from Harrah's to Caesars to Bally's to Showboat to Harrah's, the other runs in the other direction. i.e. Harrah's to Showboat and so forth.

They are free if you have a room at any of the properties, of if you are (platinum? I can't remember) or higher card holder.

Jitney's are faster and more frequent. They cost $2.25. I am not aware of bulk purchases for jitney tickets, but have never checked on their website.

Right now, the number of fish to sharks is nicely balanced, but I hear tell that the fish quotient will shortly be increasing.
