Going to be in AC this weekend to play some poker with the boyfriend. Suggestions for decent regular tournaments for Thursday/Friday/Saturday? I'll almost certainly be playing the 11 am Borgata series event on Friday morning, but I'm not as familiar with the regularly running tournaments in AC as I am in Vegas, so I'm not sure what I should be planning for my Thursday afternoon/evening and Saturday morning/afternoon (or Friday afternoon/evening if I busto early at the Borgata).

I've played the small Showboat tourneys before (which I think are decent value for the price) but my boyfriend says if he has to listen to that stupid jazz parade one more time he's going to go ballistic, so SB is out. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Borgata has a tournament series here. Honestly I wouldn't play anywhere else for tournaments. And they usually get nice turnouts. But that is just my preference.

Yeah, I'm playing the Friday morning Borgata event.

I don't think we'll get there early enough to play the Thursday morning event and the Saturday one is a rebuy, which I normally avoid.

Thanks for the link, though.

Honestly the daily's that Borgata usually runs (which wont be running because of the Fall Open) are the best in AC IMO. I haven't played anywhere else since last stepping foot in the Taj Mahal over 5 years ago.

I would check out Caesars or Harrah's as they both have a few daily's I believe and they prob better then Showboat.

I would just stay at Borgata and play cash games other then the Event you plan to play in.

btw I have never felt unsafe in the touristy areas since there's always people, light, and cops around, even late night... I'm talking about boardwalk, pacific ave, and atlantic ave

Are there any jobs in Atlantic City at the moment? Is anyone at all hiring? I know they aren't hiring in Vegas. Is AC bemoaning the same fate? I may be unemployed here in about 6 months and I am seriously considering moving there. But rather than be totally dependent on just poker, I may want a part-time job. Just an idea. Keep wanting to move to Vegas but maybe AC as an intermediate step is a better idea.

Revel will be hiring a lot of people. Rumors from a reasonable source (a respected AC journalist) says that it may be opening a few months earlier than the planned May date.

Golden Nugget would also be a good place to look. Or might be. Who knows?

More people chasing jobs than there are jobs - but hiring is going on.

I wish you the best of luck in finding something suitable!

Forgot to ask yesterday - what date is being mentioned? I'm curious, because I've heard a rumor saying that March is now the expected opening date, but have no source for this or any confirmation. Revel folk say nothing at all...

Thanks.

The way I heard it was literally "a few months early" which made me think February, but March could be accurate.

It'll be great when it happens. The landscaping is already in place, so I would think that they can't be too far away from opening.

The sooner the better, I say!

I was reviewing the lastest casino financial reports and it appears ACH has poker again? Any details? Is it open 24/7 or weekends only?

I've seen the room - it is upstairs next to the noodle bar. Right where it used to be (but not where it originally was in the opposite room which is now Asian games.)

6 tables, and a very lovely decor. They put some money into this.

Sadly, when I was there a few weeks ago, no one was around and there were no notices posted as to when the room was actually going to be open for poker. Or if tournaments were being scheduled. Or anything.

A bartender at Longhorn (between caesers and outlets) told me Revel was going to open in March. She seemed to know what she was talking about and claimed her husband worked for them or something.

Obviously not concrete, but I hope it's true.

Revel will have its own reward system right? Unique from all other casinos?

Hmm, If Revel was to open in March that would be awesome. Got a bachelor party to plan for Cinco De Mayo and would love to hit up the Revel.

Side question, I have only played and stayed at the Borgata for the past few years. But for the bachelor party my group wants to stay on the boardwalk to experience it as alot of first timers going and be able to bar hop. Someone offered the idea of staying at Trop but I think Caesars would be better. Any input?

Caesar's is more of a central location than Tropicana. But Tropicana contains my favorite bars in the city. If your friends wanted to bar hop one night, they could cab/jitney to the Showboat and then work their way back toward the Tropicana along the boardwalk and hit every place on the boards that way.

As for room quality, I have never stayed @ Tropicana, but I wasn't impressed with Caesar's rooms. They're basically the same quality as Showboat and Bally's: not bad, but certainly nothing special.

i dont know how many people you are going with but i would recommend looking into the Executive suite at Trump Plaza we had i think 8 people stay in it it was 800ish for the weekend in August and i got it booked for 509 in january for the weekend
We thought it was really nice considering trumps issues and the standard room wasnt bad at all compared to reviews i read

Has a king sized bed in a seperate bedroom with a massive bathroom with party shower. Living room with another bathroom, pull out couch 2 mini fridges a wet bar

pretty baller imo

Hey, Appreciate the feedback thus far. We have 8 going at the moment, so need a minimum of 2 rooms, maybe 3. Sucks that most suites only have a kid sized bed, gonna need 2 queens in each room at least. I have never stepped foot inside the Trop, but seems to be be the consensus at the moment.

on another note i have a room booked the second weekend in jaunary but unsure if friend will be coming due to other plans that came up so is the weekend after newyears worthwhile to go or the third weekend a better option?

The Borgata Winter Open starts on January 18th, so I'd probably go for the third weekend if you plan on playing poker.
