Do any AC poker rooms (on the boardwalk) have wifi?

I will be going through a triage with my FF team Sunday and may need to make some game time decisions.

I am trying to lock up diamond for the year so I'd be most interested in CET properties.

The only place I recall having wifi is Hooters at the Trop so that is my backup plan but hoping for an option at Ballys, Showboat, or Caesars.

I'll be checked out by game time so hotel room wifi isn't an option.

TIA

Not that I can recall. Which is why I have an aircard for my computer.

I do know that if one stays at Bally's, one can order wifi that works throughout the property - and I've been able to log on the same day even after checking out. But it's pricey.

Then again, all upper-class hotels have pricey wifi.

Motel 6, Super 8, and the like have their advantages....

Borgata has free wifi in public areas, including the poker room.

I'm looking to move to AC area at the end of the year. Where do most poker players typically live around there? I'm assuming not many people actually live in AC due to fear of getting robbed/stabbed.

You can get free wifi in the poker room at the trop.

All CET properties you have to pay.

Spotted at Caesar's in A.C. - a 2/5 LIMIT hold 'em game. Seems that 2/4 just isn't quite big enough.....

Also, Bally's is upping the buy-ins for their NL games. The 1/1 is now $50 - $150. The 1/3 is going to have a higher buy-in amount as well, but the numbers are uncomfirmed at the moment.

The low-limit game at Bally's is 2/4/6 - with a $6 river bet.

thinking about staying at taj over january. Is it as unsafe as it is depicted? I am by no means able to protect my self if in a dangerous situation. I want to experience taj poker
Id prefer staying center boardwalk but its a bit cheaper with their discounts.

I know its a long walk but is it safe to walk from taj to wild west and trop at night? I know when we walked the boardwalk from trump plaza towards taj after 20ish minutes we got to the carnival games area. How much further would it be or is the jitney a better option if we can catch it? maybe a cab?

^^^ It is fine. I stay there all the time and don't have a problem. As for a room in the Chairman tower however. Get there as early as you can to get it. The Chairman tower is much much nicer than the older Taj tower. However, it's a slightly longer walk from the casino to the elevator banks.

The Taj does have some crime problems but the odds are against you that anything will happen to you. You can always be street smart and nothing bad will happen.

brigantine, you should be able to get a 1 bedroom for 700-900 a month and a two bedroom for 800-1200 if you rent for a year

Agree with this. Since you describe yourself as in no way being able to defend yourself I suggest you avoid the parking garage and the rest room near the valet parking. Everywhere else you'll be fine.

As for walking versus taking a cab, shuttle, jitney, etc. That really depends on you. I walk back and forth from Taj/Showboat to Tropicana once or twice a day when I'm in AC. Other people won't walk one way from Caesars to either Trop or Taj. It's safe to walk the boardwalk. It is always patrolled by cops in cars. Usually there will be some shops and restaurants open until midnight or later depending on day of week and time of year so there will be other people on the boardwalk with you. You'll run into a few panhandlers but they aren't dangerous.

Is it a lot less crowded during winter then summer time in AC or just a little bit less crowded? are poker games harder because there's less tourists?

It is a lot less crowded during winter - by a couple of orders of magnatude. Still safe on the boardwalk, as already noted. Not nearly as many people though, and the entertainment piers are closed, as well as some stores.

A.C. was built to be a summer get-away town. Not a year round resort. Hopefully, Revel and others will change this.

i am just tall and skinny with little muscle lol thats what i mean by that

I walked on the boardwalk at like 3 or 4 am alone during august from trop to trump plaza and felt safe but was wondering how long the actual walk would be from taj to trop. Im gonna guess with little foot traffic and stores open to aimlessly look through it would be 15- 20 minutes. According to google earth walking from tropicana quarter to trump taj is 1.6 miles through pacific avenue

1.6 miles seems about right. Unless you walk at a rapid pace it should take you 20 minutes or more. That's about a 5mph rate, which is pretty quick for a long casual walk for most people. But you did say you are tall!

There are a lot more shops and people between Trump Plaza and Taj than between Trump Plaza and Trop.

Lol last time I went, me and a few friends entered the 11pm at the showboat and busted out around 2-3am. Starving and the fact that it happened to be a weekday, meant we'd have to venture off the boardwalk for some food. I'd been to the mcdonalds across from caesars a few times, but have only walked there when I stayed at caesars. Anyway, we decided to walk from the showboat all the way over there and it was a nightmare lol, I've lived in some not so great parts of NYC, and have seen my fair share of hoodlums, but I've never been so sure that I would get robbed in my life lol.
All in all, we made it to mcdonalds and back in one piece.

I've never been nervous to walk around on the boardwalk, even during the off season, there is a bunch of people walking around and a lot of lights at all times.

with poker, comps are usually mailed out after the fact, sometimes months after you play (especially Harrah's properties and Trop). However you should ask for a poker rate after your session, but it never hurts to ask a host because if they're in a good mood or like you, they can do what ever they want.

Trust me, in hindsight there were a lot better choices lol. What really happened was that my phone said there was a mcdonalds fairly close to the showboat, so we walked there, but got there and I think it was either closed for the night or closed down. So after already being out off the strip, we decided to walk down to the other one.

Sometimes after that late night tilt, mcdonalds is the only thing destructive enough to hit the spot lol
