I'd 2nd the outlets and also recommend the beach

AC has a $13 max cab ride anywhere within AC. long story short, the Mayor's wife got drunk, got in a cab, the cab drove around and racked up a $200 fare so now there is a "max" cab fare. used to be $8 about 5 years ago

Is she safe enough out by herself during the day until I go meet her? At night? How do you get from Borgata to the boardwalk? Any other activities spring to mind for her to do?

Any advice is appreciated.

It looks about mid town? I suppose if you're comfortable living in a what appears to be pretty old complex (given the appliances and furnishings) no where near anywhere to grocery shop and relying on the jitney it'd be okay.

I think you could find similar in brigantine and take the bus over, and live in a much much better neighborhood.

In all seriousness I think you'd be better off saving your pennies and getting a car.

I dont have a car. Would staying at a place like this be viable if im planning to play at the borgata almost everyday?
I know a poker player who used to live in one of the condos on the boardwalk and his unit was furnished. Keep in mind that you are probably going to be renting from a condo owner, not a building owner, so each unit and deal will have its own arrangements.

Would it be viable to live on the boardwalk and "commute" to Borgata. Sure but it's not your best option. If you want to play at the boardwalk casinos and you like living on the ocean then paying the higher price could be worth it to you. But if you just need a place to live and you are going to play mostly at Borgata you can live more cheaply and conveniently by getting an apartment or condo in a nearby town, leasing a car and driving to Borgata.

I found that lower rents will be best found by looking at the inland towns, not the other beach towns. Since you'll be playing at Borgata you can start with Absecon and then work from there depending on what you want in a place and how far you are willing to go. Compared to Ritz's prices for a one bedroom unit (about $1,200), you can easily save $200/month or more.

I don't live in the area now but I have driven around the nearby towns, read the ads and talked with dealers who live in the area because I plan to get an apartment sometime in the near future. My best source of info was the dealers.

bally's pretty much always runs a 1/1 nl game. I am not sure about plo but going to guess borgata would be about the only place to find it

Controlpanel,

I used to live in brig and have now moved to an apartment right on the beach+boardwalk on the border of ac and ventnor. I pay $1100 with all utilities included -- cable as well. My building is nestled between million dollar beach homes and its a very nice neighborhood.

I used to think brig was the nuts but i now like my new place a lot more. Brig became too isolated for me -- like cabin fever for a whole town.

The drive to borgata is longer but i think its worth it.

Just read your post regarding ac. Would you say ac is a good place too live if one were to move there to play poker?

Is the place you live currently furnished for $1100/month for everything or is it unfurnished?
It's right on the border of AC and Ventnor. The building is right up against the boardwalk/beach.

I probably average something like 12mins to get to Borgata. On heavy traffic days probably more.

My apartment came unfurnished, but the building manager pitched me a bunch of leftover furniture from other people who had moved out of different units. The apartment is a spacious 1 bedroom. Full kitchen, full bath, two closets. It's possible that there are studios around in the area for cheaper.

Hi, any other places to play nl 1/1 than ballys, their rake is ridiculous?

Revel will spread 1/1, but there's usually more interest for 1/2

what boombaboom said. keep in mind though that revel's 1-1 is 300 max buy-in... it's not the small stakes you're probably looking for. bally's is the only small game.

people tend to buy in shorter at showboat for some reason too. i find about 80% of the time that game plays smaller than other rooms for 1-2. this is from a very limited sample size over the last few months though.

Hey guys- I'm hitting up AC for the first time this weekend, staying at Ballys. What Saturday night tourney has recently been getting the most people Showboat or Revel? What about 1/2? Is the poker room at Ballys going to be a waste of my time?

Also, any dining recommendations in any casinos for a vegan?

Thanks!

Revel's Saturday night tourney and 1/2 games are both better than Showboat's. That is unless you prefer to pay a higher rake and larger tournament entry fee

what boombamboom said is right about "better". revel is nicer and offers more. to answer your question directly, showboat gets more runners in their saturday tourney EXCEPT when revel puts on their 10k guarantee. revel's normal saturday tourneys get 20ish runners otherwise. showboat usually gets 70-80 runners. however revel has better structure (i hear, i'm dont play tourneys) and virtually no rake.

Correct on the virtually no rake comment. On Saturdays $10 of the entry is rake, but they then add $100 for every ten entries, so if there's 19 entries they take a total of $90, if there is 20 they take nothing, 21 they take $10 etc... It's an odd formula, but it's hard to complain about. It would be better if they just made it $95+5 though.

headin down to AC next sunday and monday. looking to play a tournament on monday...which rooms get the most traffic on their daily tournaments? Would there be any besides the Borgata, or is that the only totally reliable one? i have looked into a couple rooms like Caesars and the Trop and have heard they dont get their daily tourneys off to much.
