Playing 2-5 is not about paying the big blind. It's about playing a higher stakes game that avoiding a big blind does not change whether you have the bankroll or for the game. But the position of the person straddling(normally it's only one person) will effect how +ev the straddle is for you.

I always felt safe; the only thing is I would not want to leave a lot of money in the room when not there because the doors are not as secure as most.

The biggest drawback of the place is no private bathroom unless you pay significantly more. There is a sink in each room, and you use the toilet and4showers down the hall. A few other drawbacks: no air conditioning (especially this year), no parking, and the only elevator has to be operated by staff.

It is a throwback to what I'm sure many hotels were like years ago; I think it is a fun experience to have, but if you can't sleep when it's warm or need a lot of privacy, it's not the place to go.

On the topic of cheap hotels. Any recommendations in Absecon? Or somewhere else that is realistically reachable by cabs?

Never been to AC before even though I’ve lived on the East Coast my entire life…Looking for a spot for the wife and I for a few nights in late August. Was thinking the Taj would be best for the atmosphere and views in the rooms. Thoughts?

Also, I searched the thread but no mention of golf in/around the AC area. We will have a car and be willing to drive 30 or so minutes from the boardwalk. Looking for a course under $100 a round per person. Thoughts?

If I were to move to AC which boardwalk condos would you reccomend to rent?

You wouldn't want to take cabs to Absecon, that would cost more than getting a nicer place in AC.

The best for views would be Revel. All rooms have ocean views. Like at all the other properties on the boardwalk some rooms at Taj face inland.

Brigantine Golf Course. Right over the bridge from the Marina District (Borgata, Harrah's, Golden Nugget).

I personally like to face the city and not the ocean. cool looking at all the lights and cars go by instead of the pitch black ocean...

always ask for an even numbered room at borgata and the views of the city are great.

Atlantic City officials says wireless access coming to resort

"Initially, the goal is to improve service and prevent dropped calls in and around casinos and other parts of the city and eventually, to provide free access everywhere, Gilliam said."

I've only been to AC once and not very familiar, I only know the general layout. Friends rented a house for a week and I'm tagging along, so just looking for some details on the area seeing as AC has quite the reputation.

I don't have an address but it's near N. New Hampshire Ave and Adriatic Ave. Right next to the Absecon Inlet. I assume that this part of the city is Absecon? But obviously not sure. How is this area? Would we be safe walking to the boardwalk late at night? Is it in reasonable walking distance of Revel and the Showboat? Or would we just be better off (safer) taking the Jitney anywhere we want to go?

Thanks for the help.

Absecon itself is about 10 minutes from AC off the White Horse by car. You will need to drive in to reach the boardwalk areas. If the inlet you are referring to is the end of the boardwalk area after passing revel, it is closed in parts and is incomplete. I'm also not sure if this is the Inlet ou are referring to, but I do know Brigantene is close to Harrah's, Borgata, and Revel and can be reached by cab or bus. Your best bet would be to get a map of the area you are going to and locate transportation to and from. Cabs run in the city to a max of $13 per ride, and the Jitney runs $2.25. Hopefully someone else can be a bit more of assistance. Enjoy your trip.

You'll be in the city, not Absecon. I'm no expert, but by looking on Google maps quickly, you're like seven blocks from the boardwalk (and that's the part of the boardwalk without much stuff on it) and then six more blocks from Revel. A couple more blocks after that is Showboat and then all the other casinos. Part of the area you'd be walking through is called the South Inlet, and I don't think it's a place you want to be after dark. There are many run down/abandoned buildings and they recently announced that they were demolishing some whole blocks in the area. Go to www.jitneyac.com to see the Jitney routes - it looks like the Revel route starts very close to where you're staying. I would go with the Jitney if you're going to be making that trip after dark.

Thanks for the help. Sorry for some more silly questions, but is there a parking garage/lot at the Showboat? Or perhaps at a nearby casino? Is it free? It would probably just be easier to drive to and from the casino myself.

yes all the casinos have garages and valet. it usually is at least 10 bucks for valet.

if you have a gold total rewards comp card, parking is $5. when you earn a few comp points you can get the $5 back
