In my opinion the Borgata and the Taj Chairman Tower have the best standard rooms but a lot of people don't like the Taj. I would try and stay at the Borgata if you can afford it.

The Ocean Tower has the nicest rooms. The Centurion Tower has nice rooms too but the Ocean Tower is the nicest.

i dunno if this is the right place or not but feel free to move it. i am planning a big trip down to AC with a bunch of friends And i want to get a nice suite. but when i called (ceasares entertainment, total rewards) they said the suites are only available sun-thur. so i cant get one friday and sat night when i am going lol.only thing she said was available was a regular room. and granted i am going in the middle of august so plenty of time in advance. so is the only way to get a suite on the weekend to be a high roller or whale or something??

just curious as to what everyone else thinks or if they get suites how they do it.

The food sucks, that's the major drawback at the Taj to me. Much better at Borgata. Some don't like the Taj's cleanliness. While I do think it can get bad, I also think it's exaggerated how bad it is there. However, whenever there is a crime story in AC, it's usually at the Taj.

I'm not so sure it's exaggerated. A couple months ago I remember someone got bedbug bites waiting in the Taj bus lobby...

This wouldn't surprise me because they let the homeless in there at night....

Are you sure at night? I've been in the poker room and I don't think they wait until night to let the homeless in.

Spoiler:
Ok, I guess there's a little exaggeration

It's another reason to move to Revel. Bye-bye Taj (for awhile).....

Try showboat and maybe caesars... Most PLO games are at the Borg, IMHO...

To playertee:

1/2 games are much the same (from what I can tell) all over the city. I haven't played at most rooms though of late (mostly I play at Bally's and Harrah's, rarely at Borgata or Revel, elsewhere not at all in years) so my information may be off.

PLO may go at Borgata, but I can't recall hearing of it anywhere else except on rare occasions. Caesar's and Harrah's, probably, when they have the Circuit events in town. Otherwise, it isn't much of an A.C. phenomenon.

PLO was running pretty regularly at Borgata for the four months that I was grinding there. I'd say four days a week there was a 1/2.

My wife and I are going to travel to Atlantic City on Aug. 4th (sat) for 1 night. We are bringing along her brother who is turning 21. I would like to stay in a casino so we do not have to worry about driving but I am finding all of the rooms are over $200. Can anyone suggest a way to get a room mid summer on a Sat night for a more budget friendly trip. I do play poker so are there any places that I can guarantee myself a poker rate instead of just hoping they give me one if I play.

Also we are not the "partying" type but we would like to show her brother a good time. What can you suggest that we do with him for the 2 days. We plan on leaving Pittsburgh around 4 in the morning and arriving a little before noon then getting a hotel for Sat. night and driving home Sunday.

Thanks for any help....

I am sorry to report that you are not going to find any cheaper rooms on a Sat. night in August, even if you were a poker player with a track record it will be hard to get a poker rate unless it is booked well in advance. The regular rates are around 300 bucks.

However you can check out some of the smaller hotels around the area but yes you would have to drive about 20 minutes to the casino but if this is a vacation-like stay, I would rather pay the 250-329 a night at a casino.

If you wana stay at the casino shop around, book the lowest rate, then keep checking back because if they're not as busy as expected they will lower the rates a week or so before and you can cancel your orignial one after you make the new reservation.

Bad news for AC... 5 properties potentially in trouble...

"If gaming demand goes through another prolonged downturn, companies with heavy debt loads, known as leverage, could be vulnerable, Moody’s predicted. Companies characterized at “greatest risk” include Revel and Caesars Entertainment, the owner of the Bally’s, Caesars, Harrah’s Resort and Showboat casinos in Atlantic City."
