Yeah some days it would be a lot of regs, other days hardly any. But a lot of the regs were bad players anyway lol, some were just total calling stations and a couple were maniacs.

Our knowing each other did seem to intimidate some visitors, even though there was never any collusion. Your loss though, because had you gone on another weekend you'd have been up against 6 players who only saw poker on TV, 2 players who have only played Zynga poker before, and 1 regular :P

The location next to Craps was perfect, because you'd have people walking by be like, "What's this game? Ohh I saw that on TV. Yeah I'll give it a try..." Often the dealer had to explain the rules to people. One time a kid got dealt AK, then flipped it up preflop and threw it down hard shouting, "Blackjack! Pay me!" Lol there were good times at the Hilton.

We did see 2 poker tables near the craps tables - so maybe there is a little poker played there yet. They were closed when we walked by though.

Where's a good place to Play all day sunday, either HE or PLO? I'll be arriving around 6am tomorrow.

Borgata. They're having an Omaha promotion this month so the 1/2 PLO has been running almost daily. 2/5 runs at least a few days of the week and bigger games run on the weekend. 10/25 PLO going right now and 25/25 went last weekend.

probably not. it's not vegas. there are some shows... there is some shopping... and a beach (if you're here in the summer). but for the most part... it's just casinos. if you want a lot of time playing poker... definitely spend time. borgata is arguably the best poker room in the country. and if you like the beach and outlet shopping... why not ac instead of somewhere else.

but if this is a big american tour.... you'll see a lot more in nyc and other cities.

don't get me wrong. i love ac. i go almost every weekend. but just for poker... sometimes a stop at the beach or shopping if my girl is with me... but you could see it all in a day.

in answer to your last question... you'll have 7 casinos that will run a few 1/2 games and some 2/5 (and 2/4 limit) during the week and get up to around 10-15 tables on weekends. borgata will have 10-15 1/2 games, around 5 2/5 games and a bunch of higher and lower stakes, omaha, and mixed games going during the week. they'll get to about 50 or 60 tables running on the weekends... more if there is a tournament series or its a busy summer weekend. you have lots of choices around the city for low stakes NL games... but will probably end up at the borgata. the action is good. the level of play is standard... 1/2 is very recreational... same with 2/5... better players at a higher stakes (or so i've heard and seen... i've never played above 2/5).

just my opinion. good luck.

sounds like my kinda place.

im happy to play poker each day, just fancied seeing lots of places while on route.

and most US resturants and shops are new to me, so its always a fun experiance, not fussed about shows.

looks like AC is on my list.

do you know much about the games in new york? i heard is only underground clubs, would i have difficulty getting a game as im from london?

thanks

Don't go to New York just for the games. And it really isn't worth it from environment standpoints either. Casino is a much nicer place to play.

whats the best clubs to go to in the summer for 21-25 years old? Last summer we went to the Pool and attempted to get into Providence but friends had wrong shoes lol. So we went to the sports bar and balled out on 40's

We want to go to Pauly D one night but cant seem to get dates beyond the one on Saturday.

I loved wandering the quarter drunk and got lost in the casino trying to get to the boardwalk and ended up down the escalator by the check in

Is Casbah worth it or just head straight to Borgata? I like clubs for dancing with girls but prefer places like the smaller trop bars.

i live in hoboken (next to manhattan) and work in ny. the underground scene has grown recently but i prefer casinos. a lot cleaner, more tables, and i'm a lot less paranoid about someone cheating. plus the underground clubs take huge rakes. on the flip side, the nyc clubs get the craziest players with the most action. i play a 1/3 game once in a while and there are a lot of multi-hundred dollar pots every hour. if you want to check out an underground club, just pm me sometime and i'll either get you a contact or go with you. you won't have trouble getting in.

it sounds like ac is perfect for you. you should also check out parx if you go to philadelphia. very well run room. usually has almost as many tables as borgata (not as much variety in games or stakes though).

for clubs, casbah is good in the summer, but the borgata has 2 clubs... mixx and murmur... and they are by far the most popular in the city. if you like the smaller but still club-like places check out the chelsea in the summer... it's next to the trop.

What's the best strategy for getting a cheap (or free!) weekend room offer in mid July? Not too picky about which casino.

I have all the entry level casino cards with basically no recent play recorded (except I have Borgata Black (thanks Stan!) and haven't got any card yet for Revel and ACH).

I plan to be visiting A.C. probably four or five more times between now and mid-July and I have a $1K non-poker bankroll to "blow" on fun table games such as blackjack and craps. (I'd rather not play slots for comps.)

Should I get a new card at ACH and hit the $100 BJ tables and play for as long as I can ride it? Should I do something similar at Showboat or Harrah's or Borgata or the Golden Nugget? Play as high as possible or grind out some hours at low stakes table games? Should I wait until June to do this for a July room, or should I log in some time at the tables this weekend?

What's my best move? Help please!

Playing slots is usually the best option since it is the most easily tracked. Table games are also an option, but you need to ensure that the pit boss tracks your wins/losses and time. Sometimes they are not very observant and you can lose out. Comp rooms are given out based on "average daily wager" so the more you play, the greater the chance of getting one.

Given that you only have entry level cards, weekend rooms will be VERY hard to get. Plan on playing two months in advance, that being said a few trips now wouldn't hurt. You may also want to talk to a casino host prior to playing to see what he/she can do for you.

Poker room rates are also an option and can be gained for as little as 4-5 hours play. They will run you over a hundred though on the weekends, but far better than the no comp rates of 300+. Borgata has been pretty lenient with rooms for poker players for play at the 2-5 level and above. Hope this helps.

The lowest limit game you will find in AC is the 1-1 game that runs daily at Bally's. The buy-in is from 50-150. In most other places, the minimum is the 1-2 game with a 60-300 buy-in. If you are apprehensive about playing 1-2, then you may want to start at the 1-1 game or maybe try 2-4 limit to get a feel for things. The limit games at that level usually have a 40 minimum, I believe, and tend to favor newer players.

if you cannot afford to play 1/2, don't gamble.

Hey guys, I searched the forums and could find almost nothing on bottle service in AC. My friend is having a bachelorette party in AC, and plans to go to the pool at Harrah's, this is the beginning of June, the second weekend. I was wondering if anyone had some idea of the best way to go about setting it up for her maid of honor. Is there a certain host anyone here would recommend, etc. I know this is not the most detailed, just looking for advice on the best way to set it up. I appreciate it, thanks!

does anyone have experience booking mystery deals through expedia for a 3.5 Star hotel thats downtown boardwalk. The listing guaranntees it to be a Casino on the boardwalk. It can only be Taj,Resorts,Showboat. Just under 400 for a weekend in July. Otherwise might just book with trump plaza again bc the location is the nuts IMO best spot on the boardwalk.

Hey guys hows it going?
Im taking a little trip down to AC with some friends this weekend and just kinda looking for the best quality place to stay for the weekend. Dont really want to spend 250+ per night on a room, but dont want to stay in a complete rat hole either. Just wondering if you guys had any luck with certain hotels that were nice and fairly cheap.

thanks for any and all help

I hate to break it to you Skates, but even the ratholes are $250/night on the weekends in Atlantic City. The best you can do is book a room at one of the Caesars properties like 3 months in advance. There are some rooms off the Caesars website at Harrahs and Ballys which are around $59 per night plus taxes and fees. An impromptu trip to AC for the weekend without having signifcant play at a place where a host can hook you up is going to be costly. But if you are going with friends then at least you can divide the cost amongst everyone so it isn't so bad. Just letting you know. I'm giving up on anything but sporadic trips to AC on the weekends soon because of the fact that I'm a low stakes donk and the cost of room just isn't worth it.

Your best bet is to call wherever your interested in getting bottle service and they will put in touch with the right people. Just let them know the dates, how many people are in the party and what kind of table your looking for. Fwiw i would go to Mixx or Murmur over the pool, hope this helps.
