I can't speak authoritatively because I've never played 1/2 in AC and I've never been outside the Borgata. But with that disclaimer I don't understand why you would ever want to leave the Borgata. Such a great poker room.

I guess the main problem is with the second half because you won't get the best room rates at the Borgata.

What are the best room rates

I grew up a 1.5hrs from AC and used to go all the time.

As far as poker goes, Borgata or Taj are the only two places I would even bother with. Borgata is my favorite place to play personally. The midnight tourney at the Taj is fun too though.

Don't know what the room rates are at the Borgata but they are for sure the most expensive because it's the nicest place there. I would call them and check though.

I also don't think you are going to get very good comps playing 1/2 but you can call and check.

Borgata will probably be the most expensive and will not be anywhere near the strip.

Crap strip casinos will have cheap rooms. Outside of strip gets cheaper, Absecon is cheapest.

If you have a car and not fussy go outside of AC. If you do not have a car Jitney is $2.25 and will reliably get you everywhere, and a cab is capped at $13 if you are in AC proper.

Not sure about 1/2 games, pretty sure they are the same everywhere, but highest number of them will be Taj and Borgata. Other casinos should have at least one game going, but not really sure.

Showboat or what used to be the Hilton. If you have a Total Rewards card, Showboat will be a decent place for you. Right now, I can get $25 per night Sunday-Thursday.

I play at the Borgata infrequently and can get a free room S-Thursday. I don't do any gambling on the floor. I have probably played about 100 hours of 5/10 at the Borgata over 3 years.

I guess this may not help you if you've never been to AC. But if you have check your room offers with the places you've played.

I probably have about 15 hours of 1/2 and 10 hours of 2/5 at the Borgata spread out among 4-5 visits and I get comped rooms Sunday-Thursday, so they're actually pretty liberal about the comps. Weekend rates are just absurd though.

Reach out to the ruler of the east in the borgata thread. I think if you play 5 hours they give you a $125 rate on friday & saturday.

Borgata best room best room in AC. Never a wait (10 min max) even during prime time.

Otherwise as stated above, if you have a players card and play some 1/2-2/5 they are comping Sunday to Friday. It cost $5 for a comt room and they comp you $2/hour to play 2/5. I think they comp you $1.5 at 1/2. You can use comp dollars for room also. so that after you play once (5-10 hours) you are set for free rooms.

I agree, rooms are not a problem sun-thur in the nice hotels like borgata or harrahs (both not on the boardwalk though). The rates for the weekend have somehow gone through the roof, Caesar being by far the most expensive. There are weekend poker rates, I think Borgata is $199 and Ballys is around $139 but the last weekends I've checked they weren't available. So if you have a car, take the advice from previous posters and stay abit outside AC.

Best rooms outside AC?

Sun-Thurs the Trop poker rate is $29 and they only require you to log 4 hours of play they usually have on avg 20 rooms set aside for poker rate so you should have no problem getting one, just go to the front desk and ask if they have any availability before you sit.

How many of you are "Livin de Life"

55-Year-Old Casino Exec Releases One of the Worst Rap Videos Ever

"By day, Allen Samuels is a popular casino host in Atlantic City. By night? He's A. Samuels, the illest fledgling rapper in the game, son!

Last week, the 55-year-old New Jersey resident released "Livin De Life," a music video/rap song that I'd describe to you in more detail but words fail me at the moment. So just and watch it and enjoy."

I just got this coupon in the mail from Total Rewards that offers 50% off food at CET restaurants Fridays in April....but then on the back it says "Not valid at...." and then lists pretty much every restaurant at a CET casino that I have ever been to. Does anyone have a list of restaurants this could actually be used at (besides the buffets).

I imagine you just can't book rooms with the online system 6 months in advance.

That's hard to answer without knowing your tastes. Both are equally nice properties but quite different from each other. Harrahs draws a young crowd and Caesars an older one, if that helps you.

solid advice, I booked Harrahs. Was it renovated recently? It looked new from some of the photos.

I don't think so, but one of the towers is just a few years old. The different towers vary widely in how new and how nice they are.

The Waterfront tower opened a few years ago and the Bayview tower about 10 years ago and they are both very nice. I'm not sure if the Bayview was renovated since it opened or not but it is very modern. The Atrium is outdated IMO and I've heard negative things about the original tower (I don't recall the name of it). The wing that houses the Waterfront and Bayview towers and the pool is very nice and there are some new restaurants around the casino. The spa is said to be really nice, too.

All in all Harrah's is a really nice place to stay and play and is in great condition.

I loved the Atrium when I stayed there. The Harbour tower I think is the oldest and least nice, but on the upside, it is right by the poker room.
