Guys, take it easy on him. He just wants to make it well known that he prefers women and that he doesn’t have any homosexual tendencies.

I believe from this thread that the only places currently spreading poker in AC are Borgata, Tropicana, and Harrah's. None of them are particularly "friendly" about it.

Once upon a time, Borgata was giving room offers to poker players who played at least a certain number of tier credits in a day (I believe it was about 6 hours of play at their lowest stake of NL got you Sunday - Thursday, and somewhere around 8-9 hours got you Fridays and Saturdays). Their system integration which occurred around two months ago screwed up the interface between poker comps and regular comps, so most people here haven't been seeing these offers since that happened.

If you want to play NL bigger than 2/5, LHE bigger than 3/6, or stud, I think Borgata's your only option. If you want to play OE, I think there's an occasional 10/20 game that gets spread at Harrah's (used to be at the Golden Nugget).

Also, Foxwoods/Mohegan are a similar distance to NYC, depending on where exactly you are in NYC.

@BlindingLaser

Yes i was thinking to play at Borgata. So no more room offer now?
Any accommodation within 15/20 min distance from casino that you know of?

Thanks!

I’d sign into your borg account to see your offers and what rates you have for different nights. There are plenty of hotels in absecon, nj about 10-15 minutes from Borg (recommend going with the national chains there).

There are a lot of motels in Absecon NJ. Absecon is about a 10/15 minute drive/Uber from Borgata. Check out Trip Advisor to see which ones might be better choices then shop around for price.

Might be a Harrah's promo with 4 hours of play getting a comped room if available.

Harrah's rooms are generally (always?) less than Borgata and if you don't get a 'poker' comped room Borgata is walking distance (even though I always drive).

So far airbnb and hotels are kinda expansive (probably due high season).
I found few cheap places in Abescon around 11 miles away.
Any idea how much that ride will cost every day? Uber? Bus?

Thanks everyone!

I doubt there are buses but why don’t you figure you out your Uber trip by doing a sample trip on your app to get an idea of the cost?

There's public transit (which might or might not be convenient to where you'd stay) that'd get you into AC, but then you'd need to get a jitney out to the marina. Cheap, but probably takes at least an hour. Check transit directions in Google Maps.

Depending on your time of day, an uber between Superlodge on White Horse Pike and Borgata is $12-$20

I haven't stayed there in a few years, but it used to be the best of the dirt cheap hotels. Is that still the case?

Haven't been since end of 2018 and only went to like 3 others, but it was definitely the best. I just looked out of curiosity though and all those motels that were $20-$40/night if you didn't book last minute are now $140+/night....no universe I pay that for those spots lol

Seriously if you are visiting NYC and just want to go play poker and wind up staying in some rathole budget hotel 20 mins away Parx is a much better choice - an hour closer, and the Holiday Inn right in their parking lot is totally fine.

I stayed at the Eldorado which is right on the boardwalk near the Trop for like $70 a night and that was not terrible.

I go mostly to play poker.
My last visit to Borgata was 2 years ago and at 12:30 right after lunch the poker room was already running with 7 table, with an average player age of 75 years old. I REPEAT. 12:30 pm, already 7 table, average age 75 years old.
(Im not religious but it looked better than the 70 virgins for the muslim IMO)
Is Parks the same poker heaven?

Between the lack of rooms for poker players and NYC getting poker in 2023, I can see a mass exodus of players leaving the Borgata.

Yeah I more or less agree with that. I was staying in the motels in 2018 because I wanted to get comps at Borgata because I also go there for recreation, plus I don't drive so I was taking the bus down. Plus the Holiday Inn at Parx is way more expensive than the motels were, maybe I'm cheap but I decided an extra $6.25/hr travel rake was significant at 1/2.

That sounds like it might have to be the move, this was recent right?

Parx has fewer games but still a big room and is definitely already active at 1230 PM.....why is your dream table a bunch of 75 year olds though? Like sure run over the nits and make a steady win rate but wouldn't you prefer young drunk idiots?

Just yesterday I received an email from Resorts offering 2 free nights. Sun-Thurs., between now and Sept. 30. I haven't been to Resorts in decades but seeing how I am a comp room whore, I jumped on it.

March of 2020 was the last time Borgata comped me a weekend stay. It was just at the cusp of the breakout (I believe the day I arrived they had one case up in Fort Lee). I doubt I will ever get a weekend free (or any, for that matter) from Borgata ever again. Oh well.

Harrah's rates are not unreasonable as another option.

Two weeks ago. We wanted a place near the boardwalk so people could have non-gambling fun (we're weirdos who can do that in AC). The room was far from swanky but it was clean enough and the guy who worked there was friendly and let us park there the day we checked out until 3 PM. It's no frills but if location of the room is important and all you want to do is sleep there, you can do a lot worse.

Haha it's definitely been a while since I hung out on the boardwalk for fun, but that does sound like a pretty solid deal, appreciate the info
