How easy is it to get a room rate from Tropicana or Harrahs? Bravo mentions needing 4 hours of play but are these rooms typically comped after 4 hrs? Is the process just to play 4 hrs and walk to the front desk and ask for a room comp?

What's so bad about the 5/10 stud game at Borgata? I haven't played in it, didn't even know that they had one.

If the rake doesn't get you the 6 people to the river every hand will.

Having never played in it, but having previously played 10/20 LHE there, my guess is that the denizens of the 5/10 game are probably various sorts of obnoxious -- slow, lots of complaints, lots of arguments that extend beyond the hand that spawned them, and so on. Rule nits for days!

I played one single time just to get a sense of stud and had a guy berate me and then as he left he got in my face and threatened to hurt me in the parking lot. It's the worst experience I've ever had at a poker table by far.

The 10/20 game is no peach, either. Some of those guys are miserable humans.

Do they only play Wednesdays now? Down from 4-5 days/week?

Yikes! That is bad. And a good reason to stay away from the Borgata altogether. Why should management allow such things? They have to know what is going on...

Since it's germane to the recent topic in the thread -- Ocean almost got a 10/20 mix going on Friday evening. It got up to 7 names on the list, but the 2/5 started and I think the 10/20 probably had a lot of the same names in it.

How much are you sitting down with at that 5/10 Stud game at Borgata?

Thanks.

I used to play $5/10 stud when it was at the Taj. My bet is anyone still alive* from those days moved to the Borg. When I played it, $300 was plenty to start with. I used that much since it was also my $1/2 NLHE buy-in so I was able to move for whatever reason. You can probably start with $200 and not hate it (the min is $50 if memory serves).

*Which reminds me: Do you know the average age of a stud player?
Spoiler:
Deceased.

Be advised it's a private game and even though you can get in it many of the regulars get special treatment when it comes to must moves etc. That girl dealer from B that plays in it gets whatever she wants. They don't enforce third man walking and many of them go to meals to together for an hour and leave the game short.

thats a lot of nonsense. they have different rules, and a bunch of swing employees that only handle 1.3. vs 2 mistmoves and a bunch of "regs" so its tough to keep everyone happy.

5 bet cap. vs 4 everywhere else. they also do a guarenteed 9 vs keeping main 10 handed during must move. which is super super smart and good for everyone.

they might not have a 3rd man walking rule. i think you only get 60 minutes away from table.

ive never seen someone locked out or treated poorly. the paper list before room opens is super honest the times ive shown up early.

So funny but does prove my point. It's a private game. When the must move is short and a darling reg who wasn't on the list just walks in and gets a seat at the main game which is almost full and doesn't have to go through the must move that is a private game. It screws me who isn't a regular that has to play 5 handed when it's my turn to move to the main game.

They don't because the people running the game made a deal with the room that 3 of them can get up and leave the game for an hour to eat together. It's BS for players that aren't "regs" who now have a table for an hour that the avg pot is nothing and are just paying rake.

Yea the paper list of the people running the game so people checking Bravo don't get the info. Real nice. It's fine I know the Nugget will do anything to get people to play in their house but they should be a little more up front about it.

the first part is nonsense you sound like a whiney baby. ive never seen some skip the m.m. and go straight into main. maybe you saw it but i play there most Wednesdays and have never seen it. nor would i idly sit by like some clown n let what youre complaining about happen.

how do you go on bravo when the room isnt open ? if you want to be in the main game show up @630 with the rest of the degens and wait.

if you are upser playing 6 handed at half rake getting almost $8 an hour to play 10-20 o.e you have seriously misjudged the situation and really should try to think about it from the start again.

its not a private game the end.

Well they did if for Lucy, she wasn't on the list and cut the whole mm list. I did protest and the floor didn't even listen. At that point the guy who made the deal with the room came over and explained (not that I needed it) to me. It's a private game if you want to be in denial go right ahead.

What are you talking about. Every other casino puts in how many ppl are waiting before the game is seated. They don't. I mean it's obvious when there is no list for interest on bravo and you show 10 mins later and the game is going full. Parx does it for the 6/12 OE I mean are you that dense? Or just looking to argue?

In a split pot game anything short of 8 ppl you are wasting your time especially with that nit infested social security festival. Even at half rake. Again if the rules are not applied to everyone and certain people get special treatment that is a private game. It is a private game and the guy who put it together told me they have an understanding with the GN. It's fine if I bust out of a tourney at Borgata I will walk over if the table is full and I can get a seat fine if I get caught short on the mm I will leave my stack and walk like the regs do. It's a shame I just wish it was run like Parx's OE but then again they have a great new casino where they don't have to beg people with special treatment and 3 times comps to play. I wish I could get a OE game at Borgata but PLO will suffice.

Game should only run at ocean imo.. for people who actually want to play and enjoy playing the 2 way game. Not looking to horde comps. Better dealers too. All former Taj dealers who know how to deal that game... nugget is so bad on every level.

last post im gonna make. anyone wants to tell me im wromg or dense feel free to find in person there or borgata and maybe we can sort this out without all the confusion, and snarkiness

if you cant beat a game sub 8 people sorry? i think its fine, and beatable. maybe im wrong ?

and for the player you mentioned i havent seem them there in months, whomever told you that was wrong, and being rude. while i cant control others sorry you dealt with that.

last how do you put yourself on a list if the room is physically closed prior to 8am? how do you call to get on bravo? im really not sure what the solution is, have someone sit in their closed poker room from 3am-7am to put you on a list? trust me that isnt going to fix things. it may make things worse as evidence by rampant fighting at borgata over when you could call in for 80o.e. on weekends. no system is perfect, but the nugget does a good job handling it.

briefly on the ocens thing. i dont make it there often, but i think the nugget dealers broad brush do extremely well with o.e. given they deal it 1 day a week. the time or two i saw it at ocean was fine too. id say if someone is worried about playing short, then 'hording comps' has to have a lot of value going from $2 to $7.50. why take $5+ less to play at oceans?

If anybody got a room Friday with a bed to spare, please hit me up. If you'd like to, I'll show you how to play SitnGo's on WSOP.com (I'm trying to put in some work online on this trip...)

You can play 1/2 everywhere and 2/5 reliably at the Borgata always. Download the Bravo poker app. Good luck!

1) You can find very cheap Airbnb accommodations if you are so inclined and then after you get some play in 1st week - hotel offers will start to pop up
2) If you are a serious player (i.e. you want to make a reasonable amount of $$$), Borgata is the only place you can play at
3) For online I recommend WSOP.com - you can make a deposit and withdraw right at the Caesars cage - NL100 and NL200 6max run around the clock
4) If you have a car - bring a car. Public transportation in AC isn't great

Jitney and/or Uber isn't adequate? Vegas doesn't even have a Jitney equivalent (there are a couple of monorails, but they have limited destinations). And walking between most boardwalk casinos is pretty easy.
