Yeah, if you have a car, makes no sense to take the bus. I was born and raised in Manhattan, though, so I've never really driven in my life.

Currently hanging at Rattle and Hum West pounding beers because I missed the NJ Transit bus and the next one is 12:30 Atlantic City General DiscussionAtlantic City General DiscussionAtlantic City General Discussion

Same here, got my license two years out of college and have driven a total of one time after that.

I do enjoy the option to take naps on the bus though.

After reading about the Chinatown buses, I'm beginning to feel better about Greyhound! ;-)

I am a big fan of the NJ Transit bus as well. Also on time, going back at night there are a lot of empty seats. The AC station is sketchy though, full of homeless, but there are cops in the station. I never had a reason to get there too early. Toms River stop is the only drawback as well as no cash bonus, but it is fine. I don't want to wait 30 minutes to get a bonus anyway when I want to go to Borgata.

How do you get from the bus terminal to Borgata?
Are there cabs waiting? If so... how much is a cab?
Or do you Uber?

Slightly off topic of busses but, heading down to ac with my dad from NYC and looking for golf course recommendations either in the surrounding ac area or on the way down. As we will be taking the garden state parkway any courses not too far out of the way would work as well

You have 4 options and 3 are really a play maybe even 2

1. Uber. 7-8 bucks
2. Cab 11 bucks
3. Jitney. You walk one block east towards the casinos and take the little green buses (they pass by every 3-5 minutes. , Take the ones that are going north on Pacific avenue (the side of the street the same as the boardwalk ) 2.25
4. 501 bus on Atlantic going north. (Don't do this one ) 1.50

Hopefully someone with more recent experience will chime in. I played at the Brigantine Golf Links many years ago (pre-poker boom), and from what I remember, it was a nice course. Brigantine is the island just over the bridge from the Marina section of AC (Borgata, Harrah's, Golden Nugget).

Thanks I played there years ago as well and did not like it, it was over a 5 hour round waiting on every hole and no driving range. Looking into McCullough emerald or something like that

Twisted dunes is nice but a very stern test of golf. I'm a 18 handicap and it's too hard for me. I enjoy the seaview courses much more with the course on the sea side is the course the LPGA plays.

Taking my teenage son to AC this Sunday. It's his birthday and he wants to hit a buffet. I'm not a buffet guy so I don't know which is best. We're staying at Ocean and I don't think they have one.

We would like one with crab legs.

What do you all suggest?

Unfortunately the buffet scene is pretty bad in AC. If your son likes seafood, Docks Oyster House is your best bet. If he really want a buffet, the one at Borgata is nicer than the rest. Prepare for long lines though (and lack of crab legs).

The only Buffet worthy of chance is the Borgata, Harrah's used to be a close second but has faded with lack lazy service and reduced quality. I have ate at Docks and rate it at the top seafood shop in A.C. Price wise big, but no disappointments

For a boardwalk buffet,
I know both
Ocean Casino Resort
And Tropicana
Have great poker games
Friday nights

I Googled it. Palace Court Buffet at Caesar's has prime rib and crab legs Sat and Sun (the latter is when we will be going) and Fiesta Buffet at the Tropicana offers crab legs seven days a week.

The Trop is $32.95 while Caesar's is $39.99. Leaning towards Caesar's even with the extra expense.

Haha, I just spent the last 20 mins looking for you, and yes, you're right.

I've heard really bad things about the buffet at the Trop. Haven't been in over 10 years, but I hear it's pretty bad.

Alternatively, I've heard Costal Craft Kitchen at Harrah's has unlimited crab legs, fries, soup and salad for $45 (http://blog.caesars.com/atlantic-cit...gs-harrahs-ac/) but couldn't confirm it by looking at their menu or Yelp Page.

If you're looking for the best buffet in the city, crab legs or not, it is Borgata by far.

Walked by the new Bally's sportsbook.
They have 3 big screens.
They are very well set up to sell
Beer. Serve yourself.
(Just give them your
Credit card first.)
Ocean Casino Resort has
$1 hotdogs on the 27th.
But, if you can't wait,
There are $1 hotdogs today
On the Boardwalk at Bally's

Greyhounds from DC are as bad (I know no one goes to AC from DC since we have 3 new casinos now but I do). Mostly missing drivers (I guess we deported them all?).

Tropicana sports book is a joke after all the talk a year ago.

Oceans have the only sportsbook you can drink for free (just insert your card into video poker at the bar). But I guess Borgata builds the same layout.

I got free rooms at Borgata (two nights max for free and $99 third day) Sun-Thu for playing 20 hours straight 2-4LH a year ago. Still works for me.

My best places to eat are cheap:

Cafee next to club500 in Oceans (it's not Villian and Saint) but I think they get their food from there and bread is the best on pizzas etc.

Mr. Steak Halal Food Restaurant:
This is a lot of great middle eastern food for $7 before taxes (a little spicy and I don't even like spicy!)

One cool side affect I'm looking out for, how does the El Dorado and Caesar's merger affect the Tropicana's poker room. I think being able to use your CR card there instantly makes it the biggest Caesar's room in AC. Thoughts?

Same, I've always had a soft spot for the Trop. It was the first poker room I ever went to, and it was really something back then, 2005ish. I miss the pink game

New rooms is nice, just no one goes there. I think that may change once you can swipe your CR card there.

Quick SPORTS BOOKS review: (from what iv'e seen)

1; Ballys -Biggest and least crowded; very nice features like the private rooms and beer bar alot....

2; Oceans -Good size, good feel, good bar ....good room overall

3; Borgata - more of a club feel, nice bar, still do not like the lines and bet menu

4; Resorts - smaller but has a lot to offer ; like the self serve machines

5: Golden Nugget - nice location comfortable size ; self serve machines everywhere ; No NBA hurts overall rating.

6: Tropicana - Not bad ; not great ; average

7: Hard rock - need to check back was under construction last visit; could have some possibility tho...

8: Harrahs - Small token site for betting only

Overall some real nice options to choose from and come football season thing could get fun..................
