I'm renting an apartment in Brigantine for three months starting March 1st. Hoping to get a group of people to play basketball with at least once a week. I'm down for baseball/softball, football, and any other sport too.

Man heard about that story but never really read about it. I'm staying at the taj soon. Is this something I should worry about walking on the boardwalk at night?

Planned on valet parking if the taj offers it?

Don't want to come across as a smart aleck, but why don't you just stay at the hotel? Is there something I am missing? If you are playing there several days a week you should start getting comped room offers very soon if you are not already.

I know the Borgata is great and Sunday I'll be playing cash there so Im just concerned with where the best game is within walking distance to the Trop.

Thanks.

First, a disclaimer: I haven't been to the Trop since June of last year, so maybe things have changed since then. But, with that having been said, when I play cash, I prefer to play at the Trop. In my experience, the players tend to be softer there than at Borgata or at Taj, and lean on the loose/passive side. There are a few regulars there you have to watch out for, but they're not that hard to spot.

As for tournaments, those I can't address at all since I've never played a tournament at the Trop.

You're not coming off mean at all man! I am getting comped rooms with my black card but I hate the traveling regardless. It would just make more sense for me to be able to drive 10 minutes away 5-6 days a week and stay there if I decide to play overnight to the morning or something. But regardless, it's just an idea as of now.

a summer place in brigantine(which is very nice) is going to be near impossible at any sort of normal rent. Obviously I don't know your financials but if you're worried about gas you aren't gonna like summer rent.

Best bet would be try to get a year round place at like 8-1k a month if that's your goal. But Rob's right, using the 2-4 days you can get comped at borgata, and pay for the extra days would be cheaper.

For that $$$ your only chance may be part of a summer share house. If not possibly a place more inland away from the beach.

Does anyone have advice for getting from the casino back to the Philly airport? I'll be in the area during the duration of the circuit event, have a way of getting form philly to the place secured. But getting back from Caesars to the airport is another story. I think there is a train that goes direct, but to get to the train station would I need to take a cab? Should I allot a decent amount of time for the train being late?

P.S. if there is some easier way of getting there please let me know!

Trains often do run late, however, there is no telling if it will be on time that day or not. I would check online for your train's schedule that day prior to leaving and allow plenty of time for the airport. As far as getting to the train station, there is a Jitney route that will take you from Caesars to the station. Just ask any driver for the route. Cost is $2.25 and it runs about every 30 minutes.

thanks for the more detailed info everyone.

Are any of the Total Rewards properties still running diamond in a day or platinum in a day promotions?

I would like to make this my goal while on my 3 1/2 day trip. Any advice?

I have heard a rumor that the Caesars properties will make the BBJ start out at quad Kings or better to get beat and then drop it down once every 2 weeks to quad Queens and thus lower after that. The point is to run up the bad beat even higher to really build it up. So when it hits, it is much larger than it has been to draw in more and more players. The same payouts apply I guess, 20/40/20, looser/winner/all players seated at a Caesars poker table.

they've been doing this for a couple of years now. if you look on the tv's in the rooms it will usually say what the "qualifying hand" currently is. although i thought they started at quad queens.

The remaining 20% to the house, presumably?

The whole concept of the BBJ and building it up to draw in players is ridiculous. Here's a foolproof way to build it up to a few million: 89 spades vs AK spades, must be a flop of TJQ spades. Only those two hands, only that flop. People will be flocking in from all over the world! Atlantic City will experience a rebirth!

Looking for some advice on the Lucky Streak. I play exclusively at Borgata and am looking to play more often than my ride/zipcar would allow.
- How sketchy is it, assuming I would be traveling a not-insignificant sum of money?

- I was planning on just getting off at the first casino and taking a cab to Borgata. Is this a solid plan? Is there a casino which specifically has more taxis around 10am and in the early evening?

Thanks

i don't think it's ridiculous. borgata has many more players right now because of the bbj. when the tropicana had theirs over 500k their room was packed. when the taj was over 500k last summer their room was packed. bbj seems to draw in players.

It sure does. I think it's good for the room usually, sure it's expensive but it excites the casual players and brings in tons of action when it gets up there. 20% to the house is crazy though, but i'd assume a portion of that 20% goes back to funding the next jackpot, which is standard.

I feel comfortable on the Jitneys, except waiting for one late at night. ALL of the casinos have sufficient taxis. If it is a weird hour you might need to wait however, but they will get you one, while you wait in a safe location.

Buses are pretty safe. Like anything use common sense, don't wave your damn roll around to the undesirables on the damn bus.

I prefer Academy because I think the crazies are more likely to be on the Greyhound buses (esp at the AC bus terminal...)

No they haven't. It goes down once a week and starts at Quad Queens. The new BBJ would start at Quad Kings and go down once every two weeks. In other words, every other Wednesday it would fall down and go down twice as slow as it does now.

I've taken Lucky Streak multiple times from my area and have not encountered any problems. They offer rebates at the casino you get off at which makes the cost nominal. They also offer open return schedules so you can elect to come back whenever you wish.

As far as the money issue goes, try opening up casino credit where you can withdraw/deposit at your leisure. Renting a deposit box is also an option. Even when travelling with money, I have never felt unsafe on the bus.

When arriving at Atlantic City, the Jitney is your most affordable option at $2.25 and runs 24 hours a day. The #2, #3, and #6 all stop at the Borgata and most of these routes also start at the Boardwalk properties. Chosing a bus drop off location should be easy knowing that Lucky Streak goes to Bally's, Caesars, Trump, and many of the others on the boardwalk side.
