Re: Heading back to AC, need some input.

Borgata is the only option for poker IMO. I dont step foot in any other casino other then Caesars for the WSOP circuit events.

Looks like I'll be traveling back and forth then to the borgata. What's the biggest spread game there?

Re: Atlantic City General Discussion

Has anyone from the Pittsburgh/Cleveland area traveled to AC by Amtrak train? Prices seem very reasonable.

Hey does anyone know what tournaments are going to be running in AC this weekend?

Anything with a decent structure for less than $500?

Man you must play the $400 Tourney at Borgata this weekend ($350+$50). It will get the best turnout and will be the tournament to play in this weekend. It starts at 11 AM. By the way my brother is from Wilmington.

For NLHE I think it's 10/25, but for mixed games I believe they get 300/600 and 400/800.

Thanks for the advice...

It says that tourny is a rebuy... Do these play like online rebuys... like do ppl take tons of higher variance lines early and keep rebuying to get a big stack? I don't really wanna play knowing that I'm at a disadvantage because I don't really have a roll to rebuy that 3+ times. If not, then I'm probably going to play that one.

Does your brother still live in Wilmington?

No, they don't play as insane as online rebuys. There are some that will play a little more laggy than normal, but it's not that bad. There are still plenty that will only buy once and treat it that way.

Note that this is actually a re-entry tourney, not a rebuy. If you bust you re-enter the tourney as if you're just starting out... new stack, new table and you have to pay the entry fee again. Those tend to play a little more conservative then a regular rebuy.

It's not like an online one that you describe. You can't rebuy at the start to get double chips like an online rebuy. If you bust, you can rebuy in the first 4 levels (2 hours) for a starting stack. It doesn't affect play for the majority of players. In the handful I've played at the borgata, something like 20-30% of people rebought. So for a 400 person tourney, you might have 480-520 entries. And as the poster above said, you have to pay the entry fee again, which discourages people from going too crazy.

Re: Atlantic City General Discussion

Like stated before, it's a re-entry tournament and not a re-buy one. It's a little different and people won't be loading up their stacks by rebuying to add chips. I imagine some will re-enter but most won't after busting. I am playing this but not re-entering if I bust in the first 3 hours. I would treat it just like a normal tournament with no add-on or rebuys. It really is no different unless you intend to re-enter yourself. It's not going to matter at all just going to juice the prize pool a little bit more because of it. My brother still lives in Wilmington with his wife and daughter.

Yeah the mix games are a little out of my bank roll limit lol. But yeah looks like I'll stick with 5/10 at borgata then.

Going to AC April 19th-20th - Where to stay?

I plan to play almost exclusively at the Borgata, but cold consider staying at a Harrahs property. What's your recommendation for a place to stay? I'm at a conference in NY from the 18th - 20th and plan on taking the greyhound down after the conference is over?

Thoughts?

P.S. I went to AC after the conference last year and stayed at the Borgata, just checking if there are cheaper alternatives where I won't risk death....

Harrah's is next door to the Borgata. And, the poker room is very nice there as well. And, they have a great poker rate. What more could you want? Unless you're playing higher than 2/5 NL, that is.....

Thanks! I think I'll try this. How can I get the cheapest rate here? I'm a TR member but I find we don't get as good deals as Americans (I'm Canadian). Is there a poker room rate and how much is it?

Re: Atlantic City General Discussion

If you're playing 2-5 and up the ONLY place to play is borg.
Harrah's will get MAYBE one 2-5.... on a weekend.... Borgata will have over a dozen.... As for a stay Harrah's isn't a bad place but Again if you play a little at Borg. you will start to see comped weekdays

There is a poker room rate if you play 6 hours or more, I believe, in one day. You can also check your offers on the total rewards website to see if you qualify for reduced or comped rates. As far as who gets what, the offers are based on average daily wager, with poker usually comped less than table games/slots. So the more you play, the better your offers should become.

Re: Atlantic City General Discussion

Hey Guys,

a few quick questions for my trip to AC Saturday. I'll be staying at the Trop. That was my first casino I ever played poker in. How is it doing these days?

I'm thinking of playing a few tournies Saturday night. Should I bother playing at the Trop? Is heading to Caesars a better move Saturday?

I know the Borgata is great and Sunday I'll be playing cash there so Im just concerned with where the best game is within walking distance to the Trop.

Thanks.

I would play all tournies at the Borgata. Maybe the Showboat if I wanted a smaller buy-in. You'll be fine to play 1/2 at the Tropicana. The tables are more comfortable there than other rooms imo.

Re: Atlantic City General Discussion

April 19th and 20th is a th and Fri. You can get very low rates on Thurs night but not Fri night unless you have a ton of play.

Feb 18th - 20th is Sat, Sun, and then Mon.

You can get very low rates for Sun and Mon but not Sat unless you have a ton of play.

Stay at the hotel with the lowest rates unless you are just wanting to pop down to the poker room, which is what I almost always do.

On the weekend, you will find 2/5 at Caesars and Borgata, and Harrahs. I am beginning to think that some folks are Caesars reps. During the week, 2/5 does not usually go at C or H. There will be two 2/5 at most at Caesars, and one and possibly two at harrahs. there will be many at Borgata. ( More than 7 on the weekend )

Check the reward program sites before booking a room.

Just the facts.

Re: Atlantic City General Discussion

I was wondering if anyone on here lives in the Brigantine area. I was heavily considering renting an apartment down there over the summer since the gas is killing me. I drive downt o Borgata 3-4 days a week and I drive a Jeep Cherokee so you could only imagine the amount I spend on gas. Is Brigantine nice? Expensive? Any other place that is nice and local down there that I don't know about? Help would be greatly appreciated.

How do the cash games on the hotels in the boardwalk?

Re: Atlantic City General Discussion

I'll be in AC feb 21-24, staying at Resorts because of the dirt cheap rate. Been hearing lately that the Taj PR has really gone down hill, but its a close walk to Resorts so I was planning on playing there. I am a 1/2 player, what is my best option? Should i just play at Taj? or go to Showboat? or walk down to Caesars?

Thanks Lee! What is the poker room rate? I'll be there Friday the 20th and Saturday the 21st. A buddy of mine might join me. Would that change the number of hours I have to play?

Should I call the poker room and book through them or just book normally?

Thx!
