Hey, Frankie. Do you know if Ocean Resorts Casino (former Revel, for those who haven't heard) is planning to have a poker room? Seems like you would have heard at least rumors.

Thank you. The indoor mini-golf course is perfect; exactly what we were looking for.

Hi E...as with any new properties, I have heard rumors both yay and nay, but nothing that could be substantiated either way. I'm sure announcements will come in due time from their new management team!

I heard they're keeping the floor exactly as it was so I would lean towards yes.

It would be nice if they moved the poker room to the main casino floor. There was talk at one time about it being moved to a spot on the windows with an ocean view. There was a lot of dead space on the windows between the casino floor and the parking garage that would make for a nice room with a lot of visibility and foot traffic.

I know the exact spot, I found it while walking the property early on and proposed the move but it never came to be. Sits right next to the garage entrance behind a wall, all glass overlooking the ocean, 3 stories up, plenty of room for tables and tournament area, food service and bathrooms. It also has access to the outside for a smoking area and any other outdoor amenity you could want to offer. Unfortunately it never came to be and the area still sits there vacant and unfinished for its intended purpose, whatever that may have been! Would be the ideal spot in AC!

Re: Atlantic City General Discussion

What would be the best things to do and best place to stay for 2 couples celebrating a 40th birthday on Sunday April 29th?

We like to party and get after it. Comedy shows, good bars/restaurants....anything lively on a Sunday in AC?

Would love some recommendations for fun and festiveness.

The guys will gamble a little, but we'd probably do more non-gambly stuff.

Comedy show at Borgata is usually pretty good $20 a person. Borgata has the indoor pool too. Check the AC nightlife schedule and see if any bigger acts are playing that night

We had a good time at comedy on the pier. Was reasonably priced too.

You might get more suggestions if you ask your questions at the AC forum on Trip Advisor.

Wed and Thu the Hard Rock had open interviews with invited former Taj employees and less than 20 were invited back to the auditions, perhaps this makes a statement that the Hard Rock is looking for a clean fresh start .......Good news

without a dog in the fight, and not knowing how many people showed up, seems disingenuous to make big production n media foot print about interviewing the ex taj employees.

Re: Atlantic City General Discussion

The article linked below is sort of starting the hype on a would-be Ocean Resort Casino (former Revel) poker room. I agree that if they have one, they need to not repeat the mistakes of the past, but I don't think most would agree with what he thinks were the mistakes that need to be changed.
https://www.uspoker.com/blog/ocean-r...er-room/21424/

He says keeping it in its old location is one of the things to keep. That is probably the #1 complaint about the old room. It seemed almost universally believed that it shouldn't have been isolated from the main casino floor and shouldn't have been such a trek to get to from the parking garage.

He says to add HD TVs. It already had many, although more wouldn't hurt. I don't think that was the problem.

He says the the luxurious carpeting and the relatively dim lighting are not the atmosphere that poker players want. I think most players thought the style of the carpet and tables was nice. Brighter lights would be OK, though. Keep the large 9-handed tables. They were much more comfortable than being crammed into Borgata's 10-handed tables.

The main things that would need to be changed are: Locate the poker room next to the rest of the casino floor, start with the comps similar to those they ended up with that became the best in the city, offer good promotions similar to what they had when they were preparing to close the room (one of the things the author got right), and have a smoking area within a short walk of the poker room.

Wouldn't anywhere closer to the floor be *further* from the parking garage? (OK, aside from directly below where it was.) The hotel is between the garage and the casino, so there's no getting rid of that walk. Which really isn't so horrendous and no more than most of the other Boardwalk casinos: garage at the street (or across the street) and casino abutting the Boardwalk is standard.

The poker room was on the nearest edge of the casino right after the empty shoppes and the restaurants...you just had to know to go up the first escalator.

It was weird to see an author who might not even be based in Atlantic City say that the room location was good and the problems with the room were the TVs and the lighting. I never had the opportunity to visit Revel due to the opening of Maryland casinos around the same time, but it could not have been clearer based on this community's feedback that the #1 problem with the room was its location.

No, there are many places it could be that would be closer to the casino floor and be a shorter walk from the parking garage. It could be on the casino level between the casino and the parking garage along the front of the casino by the ocean. It could be in place of one of the restaurants in the front as was the talk at one time. It could be below where it was like you said or along the walk from the parking garage, which is even closer (and is not the hotel).

The hotel isn't between the parking garage and the escalator on that level. That was dead space. You had to go several floors up from there to get to the lobby of the hotel (casino was on elevator floor 6, I believe, hotel lobby on like 11 or 12), and even on that floor, there is a lot of dead space between the parking garage and the lobby. On the casino level, there was some random seating and stuff, but it wasn't hotel lobby or hotel rooms, so I don't know how you classify that as hotel.

Well, something's holding the hotel up, right?

My recollection is that there's a bunch of non-casino space in between the garage and the casino, and the escalator to the theatre and poker room is right at the nearest edge of the casino that you come to. But I was only there a few times, so maybe I'm remembering it wrong.

agree. total garbage and lazy work. room was beautiful and comfortable. location and just a cyclic lack of action (people not playing there because people weren't playing there) were the only downfalls. room was well-run, well-dealt, and the only room to give the players more in perks and comps than borgata.

This man writing the article has absolutely no clue and obviously never played regularly in the Revel poker room.

I would suggest a bigger bathroom.
From what I recall, the bathroom closest to the poker room was comically small.
