Thanks again for tips and recommandations, one last question: What/where should we stay away from, what does the locals never do etc

locals and the people in this forum are generally two different groups. if you stick to the boardwalk, casinos, outlets and gardiners basin (which is just a few restaurants and an aquarium) you'll get the experience you're probably looking for. if you leave those areas, you'll be in some fairly rough neighborhoods.

I thought you meant they closed for good. Probably good to say they are closed today because of the weather.

Any suggestions for fun non-casino related activities in AC? Not looking to leave the city & close or on the boardwalk would be preferred. We're looking for things we could kill time doing while gambling vs each other.

ie - mini golf (would have to be indoors now)?
Go-Karts?

Not that I'm aware of. The steel pier is closed for the winter. https://steelpier.com/
AC is very odd. Nothing to do outside of gambling for the most part. No bowling, no pool hall, only movie theater is the IMAX at Trop. We would always go to Wildwood on weeklong stays for a break, but that's out too now.

you can probably get anywhere comped tonight as long as you have any type of previous play..

borgata/bally/trop in that order if you want a little poker action.. ballys www room is cold enough to hang meat in right now though

There is an indoor mini-golf course at Showboat that is open, and fun. There is a comedy club on the shopping pier, according to news reports the big wheel on the Steel Pier is open on days when the temperature is 40 or higher, live music at the Trop, Bally's Wild West, Eden Lounge at Harrah's, and other places. Lots of good restaurants to eat in, shopping at the Outlet stores, Showboat has a pool table at the bar, Harrah's has one at the restaurant there. Both are free to anyone dining/drinking there. There are options.

ripleys believe it or not
shopping pier at caesars (nice restaurants at top level, neat fountain show at end of pier, lots of high end shops to look at)
tropicana quarter has some nice shops and a good comedy club
the outlets... large and lots of good deals
if you're there on a weekend ballys wild west has music and acts like a country bar... pretty fun.

Unclear...I talked to someone who works for the Borgata who thinks Hard Rock will lose money in AC the first couple years, but also thinks their real intention is to get a foothold in Jersey so they can be the main player in North Jersey, if and when that materializes.

Ripley's, yes. Sorry that I forgot to mention it. However, the fountain show is long gone. A bar is there now. And the comedy club ticket sales.

Sincerely,

Lee

TRUTH!!
everyone talks about the subs (which are also good) but IMO the gem is really their cheese steaks. totally thought the same about better than philly when I first had it.

Maybe something new has opened very recently, but The Comedy Stop has been closed for several years.
