Cool thanks. Was leaning Bally's due to price. Will look into Trop as well.

Have a few more general questions as I've been to Vegas but am an AC newb.

Are drinks free while gambling? (excluding tips)
Is it worth it to park in garages/hotel lots or should I valet?
Is the $20 trick a thing in AC?

+1 for Bally's/Trop for the beach access alone.

Maybe I am biased because I live here, but having been to beaches all over Eastern hemisphere, NJ has some of the best...plus being able to dive right into the ocean after dusting off a few buy-ins is cleansing in it's own right.

That sounds nice.

I was planning another Vegas trip originally so I wasn't too concerned about when to go wrt weather. How is the weather in AC in early May? Would I be better off going early June for outdoor swimming?

I never valet , but parking is free if you are platinum or higher or if you put in a couple hours of poker (they give you a voucher)
20 dollar trick works wonders. I get comped 7 days a week (3 at Trop , 3 at taj ) , and a 10 or 20 will get you super early check in /better rooms and all that jazz.

Agreed. 10 / 20 often plays tight passive. Could be like watching paint dry, though with jackpot chasing it is generally looser compared to what it used to be. 20 is a much more aggressive game. At borg, 10 game may see 4-5 people limped to flop. 20 game could be 4-5 people 3 bet to flop. WITH THE SAME HANDS. An exaggeration maybe but likely... and of course there maybe plenty of raising at times in the 10, or passiveness in the 20 but overall...

The casinos was still somewhat busy and they give me free Friday and Saturday nights with a little slot play. Idk if I'll be risking it and staying there again tho.

Apparently, Christie wants to break unions
In Atlantic city and pay the cops and fire dept
With IOUs. This is outrageous. Write a letter
To the editor of the AC Press.

No union busting, pay the cops
And firefighters in cash!

Busting up unions sounds like a great way to get labor costs under control. Fact is AC is on its way out and cost cuts are a band-aid. The city needs to be reinvented.

Have a bachelor party in July in ac. We will need 3 or 4 rooms. Any tips on getting a better group rate? I plan to attempt contacting a host at ballys and provide 3 total rewards numbers. 2 of us are big slots players and frequent horseshoe Baltimore. I am a table games and slots player. My deals are slowly eroding because I'm not local to a tr casino and to extend my points they run 5 bucks through. I'm hopeful my play at Taj in the high limit Asian game's room will help me get a deal out of them.

Looks like it's almost time to reopen the Taj Mahal Thread!

Curious how their new poker room is going to be.

Opening May of this year.

Just saw the billboard as you're driving into AC (AC Expressway) saying that the Taj poker room is opening MAY 2016.

Great to hear, hopefully the room is ran well. Wasn't sure if there was any other info anywhere (couldn't find any.) Time will tell! Thanks

I hope so too)

It'll be good for us to have some competition down the street. Right now it's all borgata(and they def have a nice room) but sometimes not having to compete with much makes one tend to fall on their laurels. Just sayin'.

All Borgata? What happened to Bally's, Harrah's, Golden Nugget, and Tropicana?

I think it's going to be set up as a living museum with live poker before the internet as the subject matter. There will be a taxidermy setup showing the 15-30-45 game complete with two of the regulars signaling to each other and a 2/4 game with two homeless people making death threats to each other, as well as a third outside near the bathroom begging for his next buy-in.

I really enjoyed playing there due to its character (and characters), but I recognize that it wasn't for everyone so I don't expect it to do any better than the other boardwalk rooms if/when it reopens.

Taj's website has a banner at the top as well - "Let the Games Begin (Again)"

No links, though, to anything about the room...

I wish the taj the best of luck in trying to make a comeback in poker,, they are very liberal with their comps , they are on the boardwalk. Outside of it having the bigger games and bigger tourneys i rarely set foot at Borgata . they will have a hard time selling the room to anyone under 30 and with resorts/pokerstars making a play soon as well, it seems like it is fighting long odds on it surviving long,,, TROP and ballys have benefited some from taj closing (and trop getting added to bravo), but unless borgata poker takes a downswing, at least two of these will fail.

Yes, for some reason, I always liked playing at the Taj. It was my first AC poker room. I remember when it and the Trop were the rooms. I wish they would bring back the USPC.
