If you've played 2/4 LHE in AC before, you already know that the level of competition does not change appreciably from table to table or venue to venue. The game exists so that people can pass the time while handling cards and chips (and have an adult beverage or two if you're into that sort of thing).

Given that the rake per hand can exceed a big bet, it's not a game you're going to profit at consistently or significantly, regardless of your or your opponents' level of play. If you want real competition or money, you have to play 10/20+ at the Borgata.

All that said, there not a whole lot more fun that can be had at a poker table than raising with any two cards preflop in a 2/4 game and watching your opponents' reactions to your play.

couldnt agree more about the 2/4 AC games. Literally just people sitting all day just to "see cards" and in the case of Ballys/Harrahs, wait for the High Hand of the hour.

i used to love limit (and still do but 4-8) but it is pretty damn hard to make any money, yet alone real money playing 2-4. the rake is so high and the blinds come quick. its almost as if its a leak you just cant plug.

what my question is, does the betting get crazier/higher stakes in 1/2 no limit or 10/20 limit? i love the limit betting of knowing the amount you will need to call or raise but 10/20 seems on average like pots would be bigger than a 1/2 game (again, on average)

Since players are never at risk for their whole stack limit structure games tend to get splashier with many multi way raised pots lots of showdowns. Some people hate it because "aces always get cracked". I personally enjoy a friendly limit game over NL. As you said people expect to see many bets and are prepared to call fold or raise quickly.

Does 10/20 limit run at the Borgata still?

bravopokerlive.com gives live updates of games running at a large number of casinos across the country. http://www.bravopokerlive.com/venues...asino-and-spa/ shows 3 10/20 LHE games running right now.

Is the 10/20 mostly regulars that know eachother or is it a loose game? :P

These two options are in no way contradictory.

Some of the worst players in AC are the regulars in that 10/20 game. It's mind boggling to know that this is the only game they play, the only limit they play, and yet they continue to suck at it day after day. And I wouldn't mind playing this game on a Monday/Tuesday but the limit is too small and holdem really isn't my game. Highly recommended it to anyone who is a limit holdem player, though.

What about to jump out of 1/2nl?

What's up with hotel prices this Saturday? That can't be for the WSOPC is it? I'm comped fairly well and even my "reduced rate" is pretty absurd for Winter AC lol

Good question. Not terrible, but not really experienced. I'd happily play more limit, but somehow spending time with the 2/4 players rarely appeals. In the absence of any limit between 2/4 and 10/20, I wonder if it's a stretch to go right to the 10/20.

As a rule of thumb, a lot of people say it plays roughly equivalent to 2/5 NLHE. I don't have a big enough sample size to say, but I buy in for a rack and I rarely lose it all or double it up if that helps.

Do you know what channel it is on? If so, call A Dam Good Sports Bar and RiRa in the Tropicana and ask them if they will show it for you.

Rumor floating around about the Taj reopening the poker room sometime in May of this year - yes, that's 2 months away!

Can't seem to get confirmation of this anywhere but there was something in the Pokerstars nj thread that talked about it.

Old Taj thread is closed so I couldn't post there.

So ... anyone have any further information? ??

Thanks!

Is resorts definitely happening? I know it was mentioned earlier in the thread but there has been nothing about it for a while...

I'd agree with this statement. I personally don't play but this is all my wife does. It's a little swingy but plays similar to 2/5 as far as pot size. She usually buys in for a rack and keeps a rack behind. Average profit per session i would say is roughly a rack. She hates NL but loves the 10/20 limit. She'll go as high as 15/30 which plays significantly bigger. Hard to find that in AC though.

I don't get it. The Taj couldn't drum up business when they WERE open, how is that supposed to change things now? And I also bet there's a good chunk of their player base who have found other places to play now and are happy with their new home. Ex; every stud player in town is now at the borgata...what is the Taj going to do to get them to go back? In any event, their hurdle is bigger now than it was a year or two ago. Fwiw, I was a fan of the room and I also heard some bits and pieces here and there about them reopening but nothing sounded too concrete tbh.

I was talking to a floor at Harrah's a few months ago, and he swore to me the Pokerstars branded room at Resorts is already built.

I've played the 10/20 a bunch at the Borgata. It's a loose game and players are pretty LOL. However, they're not afraid to burn 2-3 racks in the blink of an eye. So be ready to match that aggressiveness, or don't even play.

I'm in town for the weekend and looking for the best poker room to watch the Flyers vs. Penguins game today. Borgota would normally be my choice but there tvs are pretty high in the air, what would be better, Harrahs, Ballys or the trop??
